so.....how do summons exactly work.....or do we still not know yet?

I saw someone say Shiva shows up when she feels like it, kinda. Something like that. It was in a thread where the Shiva summons were shown in a picture. Not sure if it's true, but it sounds like you can't summon her directly.

I'm so excited that Sunhi's playing the game lol.

Wow @ those Sunhi GIF's.

I have not played the demo - do we have any idea as to what the max level and max stats are etc, is it classic 9999 damage or do we know anything different yet

I hope there's an incentive to go back through areas with early enemies when you're powerful enough to one-shot them. Find that even in RPGs without level-scaling, I never get to try out my late-game abilities and strength on easy enemies unless I seek them out.

Have we seen any spells with power above 99?

w567v9P.png

Also notice how Tier 3 says 200+ and not 200 to 299 meaning there is no limit?

Picture if from the miniguide by doing the amazon roadtrip bonus of the last day btw.

Yeah. You can have up to 99 of each element, but when you combine them, it adds the different elements. So, let's say you mixed 80 blizzard with 50 fire, you'll get a 130 powered Blizzara for a base, depending on what you mix it with for an item.

The hell is this. it looks like a mix between fire and ice O__O

It's got a question mark as the icon, meaning that fire+ice+lightning, of relatively equal strength, was used to make the spell (or maybe only two elements, don't remember if you get the same icon), so it attacks with multiple elements.

I think I tried mixing them, but it didn't work with me days ago. Gotta try it again when the game comes out.

Also I feel dumb for not giving bio gun to Noctis, because for some reason I thought only Pompto can sue it...

For a while the OT is probably going to be filled with people having a lot of fun with the game mixed with people saying that the entire game is variations of the word "garbage".

Yeah, I'm afraid of this too. I still have some hope though, as this thread seems mostly free of people who have no interest in the game other than to crap on it; they've flocked to the Conan thread instead.

I'm really hoping that those people will stay out of the OT and just let us enjoy and discuss the game. They don't have to like it, but they don't have to crow so loudly about that fact either.

I guess I'll ask here since this thread seems more interested in discussing the game, but in the Conan segment Aaron mentions
the wedding gets called off.
Did we know that or is that new info? I wasn't aware of it.

Rote negativity is draining. Not talking about well reasoned and nuanced negativity, like a good review (review doesn't have to be one I agree with to be good imo, just well reasoned and written so that I can understand the perspective even if I disagree).

But long strings of posts like "this game is a piece of shit", "hot trash", "so bad, really terrible pre-order cancelled" don't really add anything to an OT imo.

I want to open it up on release day and read people's impressions, but it's not going to be as fun if the same people are just randomly drive-bying repeatedly each page demonstrating their ability to use synonyms of garbage.

So rather, to showcase your Pro, you'd rather get a pixal mess to show off that fancy Pro (assuming you have a HDR 4k TV). Logic.

It was rather than show off the pro, I should continue the series from where I left off so when I did get to FF VX the game would actually make sense to me. Logic

Once the OT goes live, I'll leave a message and disappear until I beat the game.

I don't think there will be a lot of that in the OT. You'll have the mix of impressions sure, people who like it, people who are neutral, people who dislike it but I doubt the mods will let people wantonly go into the OT to shitpost.

ditto, except I leave when my game ships (so I'm out after Nov. 25th)
10 more days and then i'm out and not listening to the hyperbole anymore :'3

It super sucks that I have finals a week after release :S
So I'll probably be back on gaf in mid december

Considering some mods in the Conan thread were joining in on the shit posting, I can't trust you on that evaluation.

I don't think it's been mentioned before, but I mean, it was supposed to be a symbol of peace, and then Niflheim attacked and took the crystal. There's no point to the wedding. Noctis and Luna do love each other, but not in that way, they haven't seen each other in more than a decade, after all.

Yeah exactly. Fair and articulated criticism, that's great and I look forward to it in discussions. But needless negativity just doesn't contribute anything. Even some of the more detailed criticisms are presented in such a way that they seem to be dismissing taste as a factor in enjoyment. Regarding the character designs, art direction, music etc. that's all down to taste and enjoying those aspects is just as valid as hating them (and sometimes if they click well enough with a person it results in a net enjoyable experience despite some big flaws in, say, narrative or game design).

I definitely sense a strong hatedom for this game and desire for it to fail. It's a shame because this might make nuanced criticism and discussion difficult if it clogs up the OT.

I finally beat the Bandersatch last night, but I really can't get a hold of dodging and parrying. :/ It feels so hard to read some of the enemies' movements. The camera was also really weird because it would sometimes go to a top-down view when I was fighting it. I hope I'm just not getting some of the mechanics because of the language barrier. I play a lot of action games fine, e.g. Bayo, DMC, Type-0, so it's frustrating me that I can't get used to the dodging at all in this game.

Its mentioned on their way to galdin that the Marriage is written into the peace treaty as a sort of "symbol of peace" or as one of the bros puts it: "A Marriage of convenience". Its very likely that the people of Altissia don't know the wedding is off since the treaty was never put into place (you know, because of the invasion).

But that goes back to my original statement. If you have a 4k/HDR tv, wanting to show off exactly what a Pro can do, FFXV should be your obvious choice. The fact that DF is saying it's the best implementation of HDR they've seen, should have you overly excited. As others have said, each FF is it's own contained story. Go big.

Finished the demo. Need to spend more time with the combat. So as far as the expanded universe stuff goes what order to I watch brotherhood and kingsglave?

Lol, that thread is bad. Old school argument but

If Colin praised it as best game ever, there would literally be 5 pages max, just saying oh it's a clueless gamer thread and he doesn't know anything.

There's been 2 negative things this month about it, CG segment, which I guess was bad, he apparently always at least days something nice about games... Whatever that means.

And then the overblown edge article, which actually said some good things about the game just the story was a bit of a cluster fuck.

But I am not going past 1 page of that review thread. May pop into OT here and there for questions.

Nah, the mods were pretty cool in the Conan thread. And part of that is also the difference in purpose of the thread.

The Conan thread isn't about the game so much as it's about a hilarious segment. So you can naturally go into it and say stuff like, "wow, this game looks as bad as I thought."

But making the same post in an OT is a bit of a drive by.

Is Kingsglaive a "need to watch" or it would be nice to watch it before the game. I don't really plan on watching the movie so I'm hoping the story works good stand alone.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
So where does the anime-series fit in?

Hard to say without knowing what XV actually communicates with you, but from what I know I'd say Kingsglaive is a need to watch, albeit unfortunately one I found to be mediocre

As far as I can tell it's basically a long ass intro to the game, with lots of important info and emotional beats you won't get out of the main game

I just watched it yesterday and found it good. Not amazing, but good. Only watch it if you want more knowledge of the setting going into the game. I found the anime to be better.
