Cabal me excited - Destiny 2 Gameplay today!

It's not a trailer it's a stream, which will probably be about an hour. 1 PM eastern, 10 AM pacific.

I believe that after the stream they are letting all the folks that were invited to attend, to play the game. So expect an awesome hype twitch at 10am, then live game impressions throughout the day, then write ups and maybe even recorded gameplay within a few days after the event.

This is just a guess of course but thats what I am expecting.

I'm getting more and more excited now as well. But man...please, please Bungie, get a new voice actor for Lord Shaxx. I can't take anymore of his awful, mismatched voice and eye-twitch-inducing quotes

This is the worst post to ever be posted.

(They do need to change the voice actress for Efrideet though. She's one of the coolest looking characters in the entire game, someone who somehow survived a terrible event like 100 years ago. And she sounds like a 15-year-old.)

Console people are weird. I'm gonna be really disappointed if it doesn't run at 60 fps on the Scorpio. Locked into the Xbox version unfortunately since it's where my friends are. I'll be looking wistfully at the PC version...

I agree, but it can still be a great looking game graphically.

D1 was cross gen and looked passable at the time but other PS4 launch titles were blowing it away. They have a chance this time to really impress.

It sure can, but like I said, I'd be happy with the way it looks like right now with double the frame rate.

But yeah I'm sure it'll look better. HDR alone would be a visual upgrade.

I still haven't played the original Destiny. I was really into the story and everything pre-release, them when they started detailing all these MMO elements, I completely lost interest. I'll still be paying attention to this to see if it's finally time to jump in.

Bungie isn't going to have 30fps and 60fps fighting each other on consoles.

And if they are improving the visuals drastically, you shouldn't be expecting 60fps at all. Personally, I would rather have that boost over 60fps.

The only direct impact that 60 fps has over 30 fps, if they don't intentionally change how the gunplay feels, is improved control responsiveness and I can't imagine that having any kind of negative impact.

My take on the craziness this thread has evolved into:

1. Not wanting the shooter to go 60 FPS is total crazy talk. Bungie, don't disappoint us here. A 30 FPS game in 2017 is sheer insanity.
2. Shaxx commentary is the single best thing in the game. "Three opponents down... This is amazing! I can't believe what I'm seeing!!!!! LOOK AT THEM FALL!!! With 10 like you, I could end war...". Like seriously, best commentary in any game ever.
3. Cayde is actually a little annoying
4. PC / PS4 cross save sounds amazing. With regards to exclusive content and how to handle it, there's already a template in Destiny for that. If you have a normal edition but sign in on a friend's PS4 who has Limited Edition bonus stuff like that exclusive ghost shell, you'll be able to see the item in game but not equip it because you're "missing a requirement". And you happen to have, say, your Hawkmoon equipped on your PS4 then log on to PC where it's an unavailable item? It'd probably behave the way the game does now if you force equip double exotics. (You have an Exotic like Ice Breaker equipped in the Special slot. Your primary is the Legendary Y1 Eidoleon Ally. While equipped, you use a Crux to upgrade into Necrochasm. Double exotic get, game fooled!!! No. Your primary slot will just be empty until you switch out to something you can use)
5. You can say you like one controller better than another without causing controversy. You can say one "kills your hands" and have it sound merely hyperbolic but illustrative of an opinion. Going into stuff like "this is the best, if you have *real man hands*", though... it makes you sound like Trump. Which I think is fair to say is fairly close to the absolute worst possible comparison that could be made of a person so it's best to avoid those parallels when possible.
6. Tick rate is 10 for ammo and scoring. Actual damage and shot registration is much higher than that. Still, just a technicality - the game has a massive issue in this department. No game should have you trading kills this often.
7. 1 more day. So hype. Nami's GIF has never been more apt:

Um 60fps destiny would be incredible. Can't believe people are against it, would be perfect for a game like Destiny.

It seems less like not wanting 60, and more like not feeling the need and preferring other improvements in its stead. 30 is fine, it doesn't matter what year it is, if people think the game is still fun to play then that's what counts.

I'm not against 60 fps. I'm against the game looking like shit and running at 60 fps.
If bungie can do some magic and improve the visuals and unlock the framerate, that's great. Hell, give me 120 fps while you're at it.

Destiny's artstyle is fantastic and looks fine even on the last gen versions. I can definitely see them hitting 60fps and retaining good visuals (at least on par with what we have now)

Edit: typo lol

What does (Microsoft is holding back the Cross Save for XBox) even mean? Will Destiny 2 have a Windows 10 XPA version like COD Infinite Warfare?

It means someone 'leaked' him some 'info' with an obvious narrative they want to push:

Big Bad Microsoft is holding back cross-saves!!!
Playstation v.Next is coming!! (Please don't buy a Scorpio)

OMG. Please stop.

Last sleep! 30 fps? 60 fps? Cross save? Cross play? What will happen? 19 hours away for at least some answers.

You could say this about any feature and still be technically right insofar as "fun" is obviously the final determinant. Doesn't mean you shouldn't aspire to modern standards which help achieve it. Like:

"It seems less like not wanting 1080p, and more like not feeling the need and preferring other improvements in its stead. 480p is fine, it doesn't matter what year it is, if people think the game is still fun to play then that's what counts."

"It seems less like not wanting a good soundtrack, and more like not feeling the need and preferring other improvements in its stead. Mono beeps from Pong are fine, it doesn't matter what year it is, if people think the game is still fun to play then that's what counts."

These statements aren't wrong either, but they highlight the issue with this line of reasoning. You don't *need* anything really as long as the game is fun, but there's some things you just expect out of a big release like this one.

I love Destiny and have played more of it than the vast majority of people out there (last I checked I was in the top 0.7% or something in total kills and time played), but 30fps is not something I'd ever try to hand wave away as trivial - it's definitely one of the game's weak links.

Agree to disagree then. I (and many others) just don't see it as big of as a deal as a lot of the people really pushing for 60 make it out to be. I personally don't care what other shooters are doing, I just want to play more Destiny.

If they can't that's entirely on them nothing to do with technical limits

Battlefield 1 runs at 60 and is one of the beat looking games of the gen

I would be fine with everything but crucible at 30... But crucible desperately needs a better framerate

Edit: this 30 fps is great nonsense is all over halo threads too... It's as if bungie has the magical power to make fan boys everywhere stupid as hell

Anyone who has played halo 1-3 on Mcc can tell you it doesn't ruin their feel it makes those games better then they ever were before

I don't have the time to commit to the grind anymore and neither do the friends I raided with in 1 so I'll probably stick to just enjoying this on streams. It's a shame too, Destiny had some of the best gunplay I've ever experienced.

You don't want Shaxx to practically orgasm when you go on 10+ killstreaks? :p For real though, they should tone it down a bit. He catches me off guard when I have my headset on

nah. don't tone it down. that "FIIIIIIGHT FOREVER GUARDIAN!!!!!" is exhilarating and reinvigorating

How many open world 60 FPS console games do you know of?

This isn't Call of Duty.

60FPS or bust. Won't go so far as saying I definitely won't buy it if it's 30 again but it will really lower my interest, and I played something like 800 hours of the first game.

Guys, if it's 60fps, that will be a pleasant surprise. But why do people expect this?

The graphics are going to be better and the worlds are going to be much bigger with, from what the rumors sound like, far less singular "instance areas" like in Destiny 1.

Why are people acting as if a game like that being 60fps on consoles is a given?

Because they aren't thinking of the scale that has been rumored to be associated with this title. 1 world is rumored to be bigger than the entire 1st game. They need to let that sink in.

I don't think it's a given. I just think it's a bad decision if it isn't. Any game with a competitive scene in 2017 should be 60FPS in my opinion. It would be really hard to get back into a 30FPS game after playing so much 60FPS the last few years.

I don't think many people expect it, but it would be good. I'd be fine with it looking identical to D1 and being 60fps because that looks and plays better. Some extra effects mean jack shit to me. Destiny has good art design and that alone is huge for looks, as Nintendo displays constantly. If they can't do 60 because of huge, wide open areas with lots of NPCs or something like that, that's a different story. Will be a moot point by tomorrow once we know though.

Pvp is the most important part of Destiny, if that isn't 60fps at least then Bungie fucked up.

It's not.

Hopefully the game is 60 fps. it has to be, but i totally understand why it might not be. As long as it's unlocked on PC it's all good.

Destiny is not a competitive game, people need to stop pushing that idea, tomorrow will finally know if Bungie gives a crap about that or not, but so far, they don't care and it's fine.

This is so true.

In before someone argues upping Destiny's signature 10 hz tickrate will mess with how the game feels.

Those people can fuck right off. It's the reason I no longer play pvp. Would get so angry at the random shit. Like literally winning the match and having it start the countdown for someone to get revived while they were all dead (and no not a self res)...

Yeah I am with you, if the choice is Destiny 1 graphics running at 60 FPS or true next gen graphics running at 30, Ill take 30.

I'm very excited for this! My friends and I are going to replay through Destiny and it's expansions. We haven't touched it in ages so we're hoping for a really good time. I really do have huge expectations for Destiny 2.. I'm hoping for a more robust PvP.
