Hmmm... it sounds pretty cool. Like some massive changes. Especially to combat. Don't want to get my hopes too high for this series again, but I am looking forward to seeing it in action.

Not getting hyped been burned by good AC games before and between all the various editions and you know the game will have microtransactions the earliest I'll buy this game even if it is clearly GotY (its not likely to be with Zelda) is BF at half price, maybe later.

Its not a matter of the games quality its the companies policies that prevent me from going all in on any of their products anymore (same for EA).

I didn't get at first what that feeling was that I got when I looked at the screenshots and saw that there was tomb raiding with puzzles, but now I finally understand. The atmosphere from this setting and the puzzles remind me of Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time and the 2008 reboot.

... I wish I hadn't realized that, because now I'm super bummed that Prince of Persia is dead. :/

If we're lucky. Would be cool especially since they said they won't contradict lore.

Wait, they said it ?

And all of this seems to be good ideas, apart from the parkour controls. But we just know what has been removed for now.

Sounds amazing. First AC since 3 too. Bar any hijinks, Ubisoft has me by the hooks with this and FC5.

Edit: Yeah, no way this is 60 fps on Scorpio. Folks are really overestimating that thing.

They should really go all out on the modern day stuff or just skip it all together. All this middle of the road shit is getting stale.

At this point I really wish they'd just skip it. The story post AC2 is an absolute mess that they should have stopped with back at AC3. It's clear the 'modern day' AC game is just Watch Dogs at this point anyway and we'll never really see a only modern day AC game.

If they stopped being strapped down to the future stuff I think they could really work on the past development more. It's pretty boring to play through the past characters when you know that they are pretty much going to succeed 100% of the time as they have to live long enough to have a kid and most of the protagonists are generally young at least at the start.

This sounds cool. I like that UBI is continuing to push the boundaries of whats possible in open world games.

That sphere grid type leveling system and no instakills on high level enemies is going to really annoy the slightly OCD part of my personality that wants to level everything to max.

Getting this one for sure. Currently the game I'm most excited about heading into E3 right now. Wonder what else will show up there!

This almost all sounds pretty good to me. I'm one of those people who like the modern day meta narrative, so I hope that's in this and better than it's been in the past few games.

Gotta say this sounds hype. Most interested I've been in an AC game for a long time. Guess we'll be fighting Romans and shit if it's during Cleopatra's reign, sweet. Not sure about the levelling system though.

So is the protag black or nah?

He could be but he wouldn't have to be. The native population of ancient Egypt wasn't black (they weren't white, either, mind you) but black people did certainly exist in Egypt at the time (there had even, a long time before this game takes place, been a black Nubian ruling class in Egypt). On the other hand, the ruling class and most of the upper class in Ptolemaic Egypt was of Greek/Macedonian origin (on that note, I can't wait for people to start crying about the supposed "white-washing" of Cleopatra once they show her). So he could be black, brown or white, really. None of that would be historically implausible (depending on his specific backstory, I suppose).

I think the rumours said he was "mixed", take that as you will.

Either way, can someone more proficient in history confirm to me the possibility of seeing the Lighthouse of Alexandria around the time the game takes place?

Lack of mini map doesn't bother me because I played both Unity and Syndicate with HUD off. :)

Scorpio running smoother than PC currently? I hope they at least optimise it for its release.

Looking forward to the trailer. I hope we get some gameplay footage or even a live demo.

Interested to see how much the scorpio version is boosted and what the level of effort was to get there. Might be a gauge for other Ubi titles to follow, maybe 3rd party in general.

Do we expect there to be a huge empty desert connecting different cities?

Most long-distance travel in ancient Egypt took place on the Nile (or at the very least along the Nile) and pretty much all big cities were located along the edge of the Nile so I wouldn't necessarily expect to see too much desert while travelling between cities (though I'm sure that there'll be a good amount of desert areas to explore - you just probably won't see too much of that if you're travelling from city to city).

If we visit Alexandria in this game (which the article says we will), then we will see the Pharos. It had been finished for I think like two centuries or so by the time Cleopatra VII took the throne and it wasn't destroyed until centuries later.

I'd wager he slightly misspoke and "Optimised on Scorpio" means the Scorpio version will be enhanced rather than just a carbon copy of the X1 version that runs slightly better.

They also have a marketing partnership so of course they would mention it.
