And all I'm seeing is bunch of 'launch exclusives' this E3. MS had chance to shut my mouth and feed me the crow. I guess I'm still stupid enough to gives them the benefits of doubts....

If the reinvestment in 1st party was fairly recent, that's obviously not going to manifest in games ready to be revealed this year.

So this was a lie? What new first party exclusives were there? With scorpio they need them more than ever to get the hardcore gamer.

And Phil says things continues...

2015 as a reminder -
”My strategy is more around our own first party franchises, and investing in franchises that we own, and probably fewer exclusive deals for third party content. I want to have strong third party relations, but paying for many third party exclusives isn't our long term strategy.

”This year, the fact that we're shipping Halo 5, Gears of War, Forza 6, Fable, we can only do that and build that best line-up we've ever seen really on the back of franchises that we own."

In their defense you ain't gonna see stuff this soon, lest you'll have the same problem with The Coalition announcing a ip then it possibly being switched.

This investment to first party talk have been existing eversince 360 era......

And all we got was hook, line and sinker....

OK, this is unfair. If this change was recent, you won't see the changes right away. It's clear that Anthem, Sea of Thieves and Destiny are the type of games and gamers they want to attract.

Those of us who care about single player entertainment will have to stick with Sony and Nintendo for the foreseeable future. Which is fine, every company and console will have its own identity that way.

Best wishes.

There has been no new major investment in first party. If it is ever going to happen, it hasn't happened yet.

If you think 6 weeks is enough time to create major AAA first party games, then yes...stupid is an adequate description of your expectations.

Spencer is safe multi CEO. I will never expect anything groundbreaking IP-wise under his leadership.

Forza Motorsport 7 and Ori & The Will of the Wisps.

As much as I like the Ori series, I can' help but feel disappointed by the conference. Two announcements is not enough to get me excited for the One X and the future of the platform.

They're not Sony guys. They aren't announcing their 2019 and 2020 titles. All their first party games shown release in the next nine months (I believe) I think it's safe to assume they will still be releasing games after that point.

But hell yes it would have been nice to see one new first party game.

They've also had years to get their shit straight for this console. But yet, here we are, over half way through the generation and this is somehow still a discussion.

No amount of BC makes up for this. They NEED the BC as it stands.

It takes a long time to build a AAA title so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until next year, then there are no excuses.

So for the people who kept saying: "This year is going to be the year that shows Phil's direction on first party".

There it is.

That would've been true with not for the fact that the majority of their first party showing this E3 was at the very least already announced for a year.

Today was the day to show the far off future. No one would have complained if they showed games 2 years off.

Huh? That's all people did when they announced stuff like Crackdown, Scalebound, Sea of Thieves, etc.

Phil has even said as much, they're not going to show games super early anymore.

AAA wise... what new (non-3rd party) games even got revealed? Forza 7? Which is as predictable as a new Fifa.

I was expecting MS to have something up their sleeves given the launch of new all-powerful hardware. There was NOTHING there that made me wallet even twitch.

This crap again... Sony have a consistent flow of first party content to their consoles. Always.

So it doesn't matter when they announce them, or how far out they are, there is always something new coming in the next few months.

Microsoft, more than ever now (especially since they are releasing a new powerful yet expensive console) need to tell us what is coming and why we should be investing in their brand. But yet, they showed nothing new.

I'm willing to bet that it's as it has been throughout this generation. The reason they showed nothing is because they genuinely have nothing. It doesn't seem to be part of their business model anymore.

If I didn't already have an Xbox, I'd look at this post and think, "I guess I'm not buying an Xbox for a couple more years then".

Crackdown was revealed years ago so I guess they are sony. If they had something to show I think we would habe seen it.

Sure but even if they do their usual Fall/Holiday release or burst the fact they have zero new ip not even smaller titles or things like Phantom Dust is telling.
