Seeing that the demo wasnt announced at the end of the american Nintendo Direct, it might be the demo that is the surprise.
That was shown at the end of the european Nintendo Direct if i'm not mistaken, but yeah, i think this is the surprise indeed. It wasnt shown at the end of the US Nintendo Direct.

The gameplay is so much more deep than i imagined.
I liked the footage of flying vehicles and shooting down things. So much variety.
This is seriously one of the best games ive ever seen.
We have still yet to see the Battlemode yet!

The game looks excellent between the art direction, and running at 60fps. There is a lot going on for a 60fps game. There's also a fairly impressive amount of geometry in play. Fairly detailed environments and characters meant to have a modeled look.
Sadly, I think some people are going to trash the game's visuals because many cannot distinguish art style from technology. There were already people on the stream, twitter, etc, saying it looks like a PS2 game in HD because it's not gritty.
For many, attempts at photorealism are the only thing which looks technologically sophisticated.

In a perfect world this would be the kind of quality that would be rewarded with Skyrim level sales. Entire GDC panels would be dedicated to talking about how Kamiya always manages to pull off the most amazing shit every single game he directs.

I won't even consider that stuff as "spoilers." We have absolutely no idea HOW the plot comes together. Kid trying to be a hero, eventually making huge mistake, heroes risking their lives cause of that one person, internal rivalries, heroes facing the overwhelming power of the enemy, looking like all hope is lost - this is all standard trailer material, not spoilers!
It just shows how very little we knew about the game. Now we know enough to know for sure if this game is peeks our interests, or if the plot goes deeper than we assumed. Awesome stuff!

Now that I've decided to do pretty much only digital purchases on Wii U, I'm hoping that Nintendo of America does something for this. Annoying how Euro folks get all of these "buy this and that and get a credit" offers on eShop and we in the US get nothing.

You don't even know how it plays. It looks fantastic, but the gameplay could get stale, the game could have glitches, the story could be cheesy and awful, and so on. If sales were based on trailers, Dead Island would have sold 100 million copies.
I loved Vanquish, but the story was below average and the characters were boring. I thought Bayonetta was alright, but the character design and story were awful.
Still, this is looking like the best game on the Wii U by far.

Get out of here, this is a Kamiya game and I've played enough action games to know a good one when I see one.
Just watching the Nintendo Direct and listening to the audio of the trailer I know this is going to be a classic. Sometimes you can just tell.
Cheesy is good by the way, this game has STYLE out the ass and you know it's going to have even more substance. Pure Platinum!

I feel like this game has the potential to do those type of sales, but Nintendo needs to advertise harder!! The Kids Meal toys, tv show, all of that are wonderful ideas. At the very least a big internet and TV ad campaign would certainly help. Skyrim had ads plastered all over the place, which was certainly a huge part of why it was so successful.
