Huh? I'm confused! Didn't the issue CBOAT was talking about have to do with ESRAM and not xbox live issues? Here's the post:

IMsory ndont banplees ;but tha whoel post was nfpixeldust

Iwil PM datils on esram to u or evil or bish nf need be,

The details PMed to Bish was about the ESRAM, right? What Morty is talking about looks like a different problem altogether. What am I missing?

At least they were honest

That may be the most mesmerizing thing I've ever seen ....

It really does sound like Sony at E3 completely destroyed the Xbox One. Forcing Microsoft to change integral pieces of the hardware and the OS so late in the game sounds like it has thrown the entire thing off kilter and it is going to take some time to get everything righted again.

Didn't Microsoft peeps before E3 say all the DRM and stuff like that was " built into the hardware ? " Sounds like they basically had to do the equivalent of attempting to erase Internet Explorer from the OS. And we all know what that does.

Probably not your intent to sound so condescending about it, but the dude DID just go through an incredibly traumatic experience :/

I did too for what it's worth. My mom died and that's why I was absent from Gaf for most of the last 4 days. But I didn't know something happened to him.

All I was referring to was the posts I saw in the recent past from him complaining that people were praising Cboat so much and not him. I wasn't taking some random cheap shot at him, the kind of stuff I was seeing from him genuinely made me think he may be desperate for something massive and to be fair this source seems a bit shaky. He may be right, I'm not even saying he's not, I'm just saying that I personally am not buying it until either someone else can back it up or we see it actually unfold.

Is it true that Microsoft is renaming Xbox LIVE as Xbox DEAD?

Wasn't there a quote from Microsoft before saying that if people wanted an offline console they should buy a 360? I wonder if they'll change that?

This really doesn't seem like the catastrophic disaster it was being portrayed as. Debilitating if it's pervasive at launch, but I was expecting some sort of massive hardware failure, not something that can be fixed in an update at or shortly after launch and doesn't even affect all aspects of the multiplayer.

Still, it's unfortunate these issues are manifesting at all. Hopefully everything gets sorted out or at the very least severely mitigated in a timely manner.

Can we please stop giving Kevin Dent the attention?

Yes, please. He's insufferable.

Man. I hate threads like this. Just rumors and whispers and rumors that build into a frenzy of nonsense.

Why do you think there's a blanket embargo on XB1? Is there any reasonable reason why they'd willingly miss the holygrail hype period besides major technical issues? I don't see it. Plenty of people have intimated that what Mort is saying is correct. He just put it out in the open for all to see.

Yesterday was the first I heard of that Kevin Dent guy, but is he a straight up misogynist? Wow his tweets and the linked comments he's made in the past are just awful.

If this is true about the online not working. How is Microsoft going to do that Battlefield 4 tournament on November 1? Isn't that suppose to be with Xbox Ones?

Here is something a ton of you are glossing over.

For someone to use these features they probably have to be a Gold member, you will be paying for something that is broken and won't be fixed immediately. You are paying $55/$60 dollars a year for a service that shouldn't cost that much, and yet it is broken.

Fuck that noise, pay walls are bad enough, engaging in the pay wall and shit doesn't even work? That's abysmal.

Considering how much they are trying to do with the OS I expected plenty of features wouldn't make it at launch.

But I wouldn't have expected these sorts of issues.

And its just rumors. Who knows what he or anyone else knows. We're gonna get impressions from outlets soon enough.

Couldn't those ms employees just CTRL + C then CTRL + V everything in 360 to one?

You obviously have never worked with developers. I used to manage a team of them in a previous job. What I found was that unless they were kept under a tight reign, they all loved nothing more than reinventing the wheel every time. If you have stable code that's been used in production for years, fucking well use it.

Does anyone actually care? This second screen nonsense is worse than 3d.

For MSFT? I agree. PS4 remote play and second screen companionship is legit. If PS3 cross play function is anything to by then it will be amazing on PS4 as it's already been demoed.

how the heck do they screw this up of all things?

All the console, MMO, hardware launches were buggy. If it was Nintendo, Iwata would have apologized on a video and GAF wouldn't have complained. WiiU still doesnt have the summer firmware upgrade, it was promised 9 months before.

First year is going to be rocky. Things are going to crash.

I find this really hard to believe. Not because I don't trust Mortimer but because I just can't see how MS could fuck up something so badly that they had right before. What the hell is going on over there?!

They thought DRM/no used games was a good idea. That's where they are operating from.

Surface of Me

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.
well considering people pay $60 a year for party chat and the privilege to play a game they already bought, I'd say it's still a big deal.

They want to charge people for something, they had eight years since the 360 launched and their online infrastructure doesn't even work. I don't see how this is something you can just shrug off. It's kind of embarrassing and I'm kind of glad I decided to wait a year on the Xbone.

I can deal with 720p. Paying for shit that doesn't even work? That's a different story

I understand that, some posters are just spreading misinformation either due to ignorance to the entire blog post, or other reasons.

I don't get why people are questioning this or thinking this couldn't be true.

Microsoft has been behind on the XBox One since before it was even announced.
They're months behind on the hardware. The software. The OS.
Everything is a complete mess. They don't have the teams they use to with the Xbox and 360.
They are trying to do too many things at once, and none of them are good for gamers. The system is a mess. Simple as that.

if online play is fucked and buggy for weeks after launch, that's a pretty big deal. I wouldn't' write it off so quickly as something that can be easily fixed when Mort's own sources think it could take weeks/months. Think about the number it did on PS3's image when PSN was compromised and down for a month. Imagine that happening on a system where online play is so vital like XBL.

It really is like Sony and MS traded places.

Buying an XB1 on day one with CoD and/or BF4 and not being able to play MP.

Can you imagine?

Won't effect me because I am not getting one anywhere near launch, but I hope those of you who do buy this thing know absolutely what you are getting yourselves into.
