There are very few other features that are actually exclusive to XB1, to be honest I can't think of anything that will remain exclusive other than Snap and HDMI passthrough, where as the tech specs will always remain a huge advantage, on a games console.

We're getting really off topic now, it was an off the cuff remark to point out you'd be paying more for less and that's why you would be disappointed,

So I haven't read the entire thread, but for this new gen scoreboard, we have:

Wii U OS = was fucked at launch
Xbox One OS = Is fucked a few weeks from launch, will most likely be at least somewhat fucked at launch
PS4 OS = Hopefully pretty good, but we'll have to wait til launch day to know for sure.

Is that about right? If so, what a change from this last gen.

Shit, I agree with his tweets too. Seems like there's a lot of 'LET'S TEAR THIS COMPANY'S REP TO SHREDS' mentality going on. However, there is also a lot of things going on in the background with this launch that have made people weary, such as the DRM debacle. As someone who is not getting either console day one, I'm approaching all of this with caution.

Two things

1) CBOAT hasnt posted. That indicates that even if this is true, it cant be talked about yet.

2) The mods are being extremely quiet. They are staying out of this thread for a reason.

I wouldnt expect further confirmation until launch, where this will be self evident if true. We will get further info then.

Xbone doesn't have DVR, if you want motion controls (lol) getting a ps4 with a camera is still cheaper than buying an xbone.

or they could simply wait until Halo and see if MS fixed their shit and if it is worth it to buy $499 console just for Halo.

Im not so sure about that, people want to know for either console that there big launch day spend on these machines and games isnt going to come with a gimped experience day one and it gets heated when we hear rumours like this. Of course there will be an element that just want to see sony or ms burn but for the most part i think its just consumers wanting to know they arnt getting a lemon for their cash investment day one.

A stability test takes longer than 2 minutes, this also likely doesn't have many of the buggy features.

Just a general reminder, particularly since there's so much chatter between either here or twitter where people seem to have entirely forgotten the fact that we've seen the xbox one dashboard in action on a real system with a game running simultaneously alongside it. For example, a image I saw posted involving a back and forth with phil spencer had a guy seemingly suggesting that you can't use the xbox one guide button at area one events, insinuating that it probably doesn't work, or that there's maybe no dashboard there. So I thought that video was appropriate, since it's largely at the heart of what's being discussed.

I agree Skeff. A stability test does take much longer than 2 minutes, and you could see some slight responsiveness issues, but they did seem to acknowledge that it was a beta (or maybe he meant ryse,) and that there were bugs as a result.

I wonder why he isn't outright denying this? it would make sense to stop the false news that's quickly spreading among gamers. Sounds like it's actually true.

I have both consoles on pre-order. I'm not as excited for the Xbox One, so I'll pick up my order on the 22nd, but I won't set it up as soon I get home. My plan is to follow how the launch is going and what others are experiencing during setup, updating and system use.

Good, good. As I was writing I got on twitter and sent people at my wife's account. The trolls gave her a hard time and one called her a tranny.

And then we laughed. It was funny. I know that things are super serious in this industry and even that back and forth probably offends some people... but that's how we talk. The 12 people who listen to my podcast can back that up, as I do one with my wife every month (or 6 months, depending...).


My night thus far has been this:

Ate food

Poured a glass of wine and sat down to watch the world series (I'm a lifelong red sox fan).

Got a (message of some sort) in the first inning with incredible info.

Spent the next several innings (yes, innings are the length of time now) talking to this person. Another person. A third person... and then tracking two other people down.

Got mad when St Louis scored.

Got excited when Boston tied it up.

Got my first partial verification that this info was right.

Got info from two others almost simultaneously that it was right.

Gomes slaps a home run that makes me go apeshit.

I'm feeling bad that it's taking so long to write up what ends up being a gramatical nightmare anyway that I point people at my wife because she's the funniest person I know.

She is laughing hysterically as she tells me what people are writing to her.

Shemale thing (we both laugh).

I finally decide that it's done. Oh I forgot to mention, the entire time I was writing it here - in a gaf box - waiting for Bish to tell me it was ok to post. He never did. So I moved it to my blog. I know this red flags! HE WANTS CLICKS! Look up the site, it's wordpress, I don't make a dime. In fact I pay many dimes every year.

I post it.

Mik (mormonrage... or Mike on the Player One Podcast) finds every gramatical error in 2 seconds and tweets them at me.

Twitter/email/gchat/etc go nuts.

I respond to things as best I can, it's really, really fast.

It approaches midnight and today (monday) is my wife's birthday.

We go and do birthday things for a few hours.

I come back and talk to friends, try to respond to tweets... the red sox already won. Everything is awesome.

I keep responding to stuff. I find it fun. Someone is fucking mad as fuck... don't mind, like to give what info I have. Someone is thanking me... I thank them back. Someone is excited I ripped MS a new one... i remind them that Sony fucks up... a lot.

Then, at some point, I made a post here... and I think a tweet that made people think I was suicidal or something. I kept getting messages saying I needed to relax.

It made no sense... tonight has been an obscenely good night and I'm fucking off from work tomorrow!

It kept happening!

I wrote a long thing and a friend made me feel like it would seem desperate so I erased it.

He was wrong.

I wrote this and formatted it just like kevin dent's post the other night.

TL;DR I've been nothing but happy for a long time. Also, my wife is fucking awesome. Don't believe me? Listen to this.

Smart decision, if it doesn't live up to your standards then you can always return it if you keep it unopened. and of course if it turns out great, you won't miss your spot in the pre order queue.

Yeah, during Eurogamer I hit the guide button once during my time with Forza. Took a few seconds for the dash to load properly, then it crashed the system entirely. The rep didn't really know what to do

People are on any negative news like vultures because of a lack of trust in MS/Sony
We've been lied to over and over (and over) , they've done nothing but try to obfuscate the truth and damage control.

That's ms/sony's fault and is a perfectly reasonable reaction.
People don't want any nasty surprises on launch day but with all the lying and witholding information that has been happening it becomes increasingly worrying and likely.

Any celebrating done is celebrating them getting caught pants down (so they have to do something before consumers get fucked, not after), not celebrating that there are issues

I certainly wouldn't wish a broken UI on anyone (anyone here use steam from 2004-2007? the friendslist and invite system NEVER worked it took them 3 frigging years to fix it, I hated steam back then for being a worthless piece of shit)

MS knew about rrod before releasing the 360, publishers and game journalists knew about the 720p/900p games , neither of them bothered to tell the consumers and fans though, you know, the people who NEED to know these things since they will be putting down their hard earned money.
So again, don't blame people for just wanting to know what's what for once.


off topic: why are people trying to character assassinate mortimer? Pretty sure that is highly against the forum rules to derail a thread with ad hominem instead of arguing the validity of the rumor/discussion at hand.

Assuming this is true, if he denies it on the hope that the OS team fixes it by launch... but they don't, Spencer destroys his own credibility.

Better to shut up if there's even 1% chance it'll bite you in the arse.

you guys must also realise that the Day 1 update for PS4 launch as well essentially installs EVERYTHING that should have been in the first place. It might be an iffy launch for PS4 as well .
