Just to ask:

Without the FW 1.5 patch, I can still play games on my PS4 on Day 1. The patch is for shinyshiny (remote play, party chat, other stuff listed in the relevant thread on the topic) and for some reason BR/DVD playback (altho I suspect that's related to region coding).

So even if PSN is borked on D1, I can play games when I get my console.

The X Box One - so far as I can tell - is a brick until the Day 1 patch is installed, because the patch removes all the DRM features in the OS.

Does this mean if there are connectivity issues with XBL I can't play my games on D1?

Is this necessary? Why do you want someone to "admit defeat"? I dont understand the mindset of needing the console you purchases to "beat" the other one. I'm getting a ps4 bc I want to play 2k14, and theyve shown all their screens on it. But I want the Xbox version to look just and nice, work, etc.

I can't believe no one is talking about this outside of Gaf either, is this not supposed to be the job of the supposed "videogame journalists"? Like, should this not be a story somewhere, even if they have to say this in unconfirmed but it's looking likely? I have to come here to find people digging for answers. I get the impression from a lot of these industry douchbag tweets that they know something or are privy to more than they actually say. I guess they don't want to lose their access to anything, but going that route makes you completely useless to me.

Didn't Shu also confirm in a intervjue in february that PS4 would play used games? He got some shit about it and was leashed to a PR guy for a while though. But pretty sure I read that he said that.

I don't know - "it could take months" surely wouldn't be shortly after launch. I hope Xbone can get its shit together though, I am thinking of taking a day off of work with some buddies to play some PS4/Xbone. I would be pissed if a broken OS/Online prevented me from playing some Killer Instinct.

Journalists will never pass up a chance to blame the consumers for anything. They did it during the huge reaction to all of the DRM and I'm sure some will do it if the One tanks.

I can already see a future headline somewhere "You cried to get DRM taken out and still didn't buy the system".

Almost any discussion about gaming goes completely irrational in about 2 minutes so if this is real, if any rumours are real, I expect plenty of people to spew hatred, plenty to simply bury their heads in the sand and pretend nothing is wrong, and tons of schadenfreude from those not affected.

It may just be his opinion, or DICE may have simply focused on the campaign this time around. It's apparently pretty short, but I doubt this is the case. i think it's a resolution difference to be honest.

We'll have to see tomorrow, but it isn't looking promising.

Yes it does. I have many friends who were somehow convinced that xbox ones anti consumer bullshit was no big deal. I know they changed it but they only did it because of the huge backlash. I'm still pissed off that they tried to screw us over like that. I'm super salty and want the xbox one to fail hard.

I don't like the MS DRM stuff either. But I don't think it's good to wish MS and the owners of the X1 to fail. I'd like them both to succeed. Especially since MS did reverse their policies. If the institute them again, I hope they receive another beating for it. I don't wish their failure though.

Dumbest thing I have ever heard here. Actually wanting a console to fail. THOUSANDS of jobs at stake, and a product that some people enjoy. Frankly I wouldn't play games any where near as much if Halo wasn't a thing.

If you don't want it don't buy it, but don't wish for it to fail. So stupid.

I bet you desperately wanted Steam to fail too?

Edit: If either Sony or MS were to fail that would leave the other with damn near a monopoly. That is the LAST thing we want.

I would be surprised if a shooter was released without co-op nowadays especially from EA...
