Dengeki interview pt. 3 - final

Q: You also put lots of effort in the minigames.
Hayashi: When selecting the minigames we focused on 'how girls would look', like butt-battle it's focus is butt. And when the girl loses and falls in water, we focused on what we wanted to see happen. That's how the the clothes falling off idea came from.

Q: what minigame do you want fans to see?
Hayashi: The director put lots of effort in rock-climbing. Rocking-climbing in swimsuit doesn't really happen in real life.
At first I thought the director wanted to show strong healthy girls, but when I asked it wasn't the director's intention. It seems he wanted to see the pure image of girls spreading their legs to climb the rocks, and see that in various different angles. He is crazy lol.

Q: In the demo we were able to view from inside the rock. Was that a bug?
Hayashi: No it's there because we wanted to users to look at the girls in 'various different angles'

Q: At night you can go to the casino. what kind of place is this?
Hayashi: DOAX3 is a healing game, but some players have the desire to work hard to get the swimsuits asap. Casinos is place to fulfill that desire.

But casino is very risky and you could lose money.. I guess it's a place you fight against your desire..

Q: Seems casino is difficult..
Hayashi: We are using random number to reproduce the individual games for the casino. There is a lot of luck involved, but card games follows the logic so you can earn money if you follow the logic.

Q: If I bluff and raise, they just fold.. Nyotengu raises even in no hand..
Hayashi: the girls have different styles in how the play in casino. Understanding their characteristic and style of play will help you win more.

Q: If you work hard in casino you will be able to see the pole dance. Can you go into detail?
Hayashi: Pole dance was in DOAX2 and was very well received. So we wanted users to enjoy 'softer' pole dance in DOAX3.

But pole dance is like end-content of this game. So you will need to play the game for a while to unlock it.

Q: In DOAX3 you added 'owner mode' Why did you add this mode?
Hayashi: In the past DOAX games you pick a girl that represents you, but in gravure mode you get to watch that girl. So the player's position in the game was a bit weird..

Of course the game still works, but you want to be closer to the girls, right? You get to talk to girls in the island, and make them say "I like you" You can feel more empathy in these situations, so we made girl mode and owner mode.

Q: Calling it 'owner mode' instead of 'jack mode' is to make it feel more personal?
Hayashi: If we tell you 'you are jack' then you can't really feel empathy can you? lol. That's why Jack is more of a guidance in DOAX3.

When you play, Jack will give you certain missions like 'give swimsuit present to a girl' By following these missions you get the hang of the game naturally. Of course, you can ignore and play in your own style.

Q: By completing these mission you raise 'owner level' what is this?
Hayashi: Higher level makes easier to play. DOAX3 is repeating 14 days of vacation. So owner level will be incentive for multiple playthrough

Q: What elements can you carry over in multiple playthrough?
Hayashi: Everything. Owner's Jack-money, girl's jack-money, swimsuits, etc.

Q: What is your plan for future of DOAX3?
Hayashi: Like I said before, I want to increase the number of swimsuits. Also there is one more thing I want to add. That is adding more situations to take picture of the girls.

Q: Will there be collaboration with other products like in DOA5LR?
Hayashi: There is no plans at the moment. Since this game is about swimsuits, there is limitations on how we can do collaborations. Of course there are games with swimsuits in them, but they are mostly just typical swimsuits. So in the end it won't be much different from the swimsuits already in the game.

Well, why not just ask here? If there is any companies that want to do some collaboration work, please contact us! lol

Q: How about the girls that missed out on the poll?
Hayashi: Adding one girl means adding 260 swimsuits as well. We are listening to the fan's feedback, but at the moment the priority is adding new swimsuits.

Q: Do you have any plans to add new girls, or new ultimate edition of the game?
Hayashi: This is like a anniversary title after 10 years of wait in the series, so no we don't intend on making a added on version.

Q: Do you have any last message for the fans?
Hayashi: Well, first of all I am sorry for the 1 month delay. But in the end I think we made a product that we are confident on. We want users to feel the shock when they play this game at home, so please buy the game.

Let's get the Christie train going!
MEGATON. DS4 touchscreen features confirmed? We can move wind, can we also move boobs?
I think that same line disconfirms that -- "the actual touch pinching is exclusive to Vita."

Whether you hate this game for what it is or not, it's refreshing that they are not fronting any of this. Really great interview overall, and I am excited to play some rock climbing!

Again, big thanks for the translation raven777.

Even Hayashi overestimated the pure intentions of the staff. Haha

So does that mean each DLC swimsuit can be given to each girl? If so expect $5+ per swimsuit.

And does anyone know if next week's famitsu has their special DLC codes, and if ordering the digital version nets you those codes?

Whelp after reading that interview if they could have gotten away with it sounds like Team Ninja would have made this sexy beach. I think its even less likely this game ever comes west now.

I was really happy to hear their were 260 swimsuits not counting the slight variation ones all the girls share. Hopefully that means recolors too so there are actually 260 designs. Easier gifting is great too. Can't wait for next week.

I don't post here often, but might as well share this here :)
Looks like somebody got the game early, they posted two videos on Youtube.

Intro + Character Select

Some volleyball gameplay + Kasumi gravure

Super jealous. No lavish CG cutscene intro though? Noooo.

Yea I think next week's famitsu has the DLC. And yes, you can get the DLC when you buy the digital version I believe.

But the code will only work in JP PSN store... and not sure if Asian version of the game will recognize the DLC.

If this gets its western release: Box quote right there.

lmao, that interview is hilarous.

I mean, atleast I can appreciate they're straight and honest about what they wanted to do with this game but...

Whelp after reading that interview if they could have gotten away with it sounds like Team Ninja would have made this sexy beach. .

Totally.

Not saying that's what the players wanted, btw.

There's undoubtedly a market in there just for the teasing and gravure scenes, but I'm sure most wouldn't exactly be repulsed by the shackles of institutionalised puritanism finally being released, and Team Ninja's true artistic vision jiggling forth into the light, free and unburdened of archaic notions of decency, shame and decorum.

Which issue of Famitsu is it exactly? Might get it in an order with other stuff.

thanks for the translation raven

no surprises about swimsuits being the priority for DLC, still think characters are coming

i don't believe a word about the outfits being easier to gift . . . maybe it'll be easier because there are less suits to give than in previous games

nice to see confirmation that the doa costumes work for everyone

i wonder if they'll bring that to the main game anytime soon

The one that releases on March 24th I believe.

around $5 I assume?
You can buy the digital version from bookwalker and I think you can use paypal. Not 100% sure so someone who bought it from there can confirm.

Thanks again raven777 for the interview. LOLed so hard. XD

I thought it was very obviously a nod to DOA6.
Great if it's DOA6, though personally I wish Soft Engine would be used in other games as well.

Just reconfirming what raven777 posted above. It's the issue that goes on sale on March 24, and you can buy the digital version from Bookwalker. The price should be the usual 350yen and they accept payment via PayPal.

They went super low budget for everything. Which doesn't make sense since they want to build upon this game with DLC. Base vanilla game should have a good foundation if they want long term investments,

Most animations are reused from previous games with a few new ones included. The minigames seem to play pretty much the same as the previous ones, licensed music seems to be mostly gone, Jet ski and Water Slide minigames out. Im pretty sure the intro Zack is in Helena's ship and a lot of the assets seem to be reused with touch ups. No CG intro and the little CG is reused from previous games.

I wonder how much was actually spent on the game.

Thanks for that! It's just that I was planning to buy something from amazon japan since you can buy games from them now, and they sell magazines too, so cheap addition to orders, already did that in the past. I like paper too :)

Shame. Budget was probably blown on ass jiggle engine.

Shame. Budget was probably blown on ass jiggle engine.

New gravure animations, Soft Engine 2.0, new bikinis and Rock Climbing.

I wonder if later down the line they add more game modes / minigames via DLC if there is demand for that.

Agreed. Trash most of the minigames and instead go crazy with "Xtreme" sports. Tennis, Volleyball, Golf, water balloon fight, w/e other summer/beach sports there are.
They are on a resort that could have all that stuff really but the thing is budget to make it.

EDIT: They could have done something like this maybe in a smaller scale.

Hell. Xtreme Ping Pong would've worked.

Even down for some Xtreme Badminton.

I'm well aware, my expectations are firmly in check for this game. I doubt they'd be able to sell enough to develop a game with all that and make the gameplay anything beyond simple.
