God Of War PS4 playable from start to finish

Yas. I was hoping for a 2017 release from 2014 when Cory said that a new GOW was in early development.
Although it could get pushed to March 18...

That's what they call the alpha state in terms of game development, right ? Playable from start to finish but in a very unpolished and unbalanced fashion. Presumably, this is also the state where they are not supposed to look back and change too much of the core game I think ?
It really depends, it the more traditional sense of software release cycles it could even be classed as Beta but in the public realm stages like Alpha and Beta are almost interchangeable. On consoles, I assume it's the same on PC, you see early versions of games being released but they seem to now fit into either "running really badly" or "running OK but not quite as well as it will at release".

I don't necessarily think that the publicly listed release stage is the same as their internal labelling of that release stage and it becomes more of a marketing label.

Playable start to finish could mean a lot of different things. Could mean alpha complete, or could mean they have all the load zones and maps stubbed out and half the content is "press X to progress game" so far.

This feels like the sort of thing where in like March they throw a Holiday 2017 date at us, then at E3 it's announced for like mid-October, then in September it gets bumped to December, then by November it's March-May 2018.

This is the way of Sony.

A good counter argument to a 6 teraflop system would be to release a god of war game. Microsoft is going to have a hard time showing why 6 Teraflops matters. Because we all know graphically GOW is going to look amazing.

I had this pegged as a 2018 game along with spiderman. If this and days gone make it for next year I will be pleased.

It probably still is a 2018 title. God of War is a March series so I'm betting on 2018. Spider-Man should've been out by this summer to capitalize on the movie hype but someone dropped the ball on that.

That makes Q4 2017 a possibility, but Sony has no reason to rush it given they have marketing deals for:

- Call of Duty 2017
- Destiny 2
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Battlefront 2

Gow ghost of sparta was a november title though. And if there's a gow game that's going to break the march release tradition, it could be this one. I mean they're already doing a major shakeup gameplay wise, why not go all the way with the release date?

Yeah, I wouldn't be so sure of that. :)
Time to spill the beans dude

I heard from GAF they had start from scratch on everything tho.

:)

The E3 version was all smoke and mirrors. They are pretty much starting over from what I was told. 2017 will be a miracle.

That's pretty exciting! I hope it doesn't turn out to be the Uncharted 4 of the series. I can't imagine Barlog allowing that to happen though.

Potentially a new assassins Creed too depending if it releases and they go with Sony again

Just because a game is stated to be playable from "start to finish" doesn't mean it's content complete, so people hoping for 2017 are being a little naive.

Really wonder if Kratos can be the big Q4 2017 PS4 exclusive, but the real question would be once again : is any exclusive needed in a period we are supposed to get Destiny 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 ?

Damn so much is unknown about the timing of all those big games. GT Sport, Spider-Man, God of War, Detroit, Days Gone,
Knack 2
, not to mention whatever Sucker Punch is cooking.
Definitely not. Destiny 2 is going to be a MONSTER! I'm super excited for it and even when the game is "dead" there's still more people playing it than some of the best shooters out there. Star Wars and a new R* game added to the year? No...The only thing that should possibly release for Sony around that time is Gran Turismo because it speaks to a completely different audience and it's still very very causally appealing with all the car porn going on.

Unlikely. I think Sony won't do a 2nd marketing deal for another open-world game in the fall. Fully expect MS to have secured it and will likely use it to showcase Scorpio 3rd party support.

If it's an all-out God of War game it'll release in 2018. They'll surely need at least that time to make the level that dwarfs the Cronos fight.

If it's all The God of War 1886 in the same vein as the E3 demo then maybe it'll be a 2017 release.
