SO many good films. You left out my favorite, The Last Waltz. Some of my favorite live performances are in that film.

or Hugo which really resonated well with my father and I when we saw it.

I find Goodfellas to be kind of boring/cheesy now. It's been parodied and referenced so many times that I can't really take it seriously anymore. It's great obviously I just rarely watch it now.

Taxi Driver is my favorite Scorsese film (and fav film of all time) followed by Raging Bull and The Aviator.

I can see why Goofdfellas is the most popular. But I just really, really love Gangs of New York. Mainly because of this guy right here.

I'd rather have a 45 minute version of this movie with nothing but DDL's scenes and all the removed scenes replaced with old-timey text like in silent films. Leo and Diaz in this movie.....blecchhh.

I agree with you OP, Goodfellas. But I would put Casino at a close number 2, with Taxi Driver probably at number 3. He has yet to make a movie I didn't love.

Only two Scorsese films I've seen completely are Taxi Driver and Goodfellas. Out of those two, most definitely Taxi Driver, it's one of my favorite movies of all time.

1) The Departed
2) The Gangs of New York
3) Goodfellas
4) Casino
5) Shutter Island

I also love The Aviator.
So many f'n good movies!

The Color of Money, if for no other reason than the Richard Price screenplay. And there are a LOT of other reasons - including, yes, Tom Cruise.

This man is a freaking god, that list of movies is amazing.

1. Raging Bull
2. The Departed
3. Goodfellas
4. Hugo
5. Shutter Island

All the rest are awesome, just not as awesome as these.

So am I the only one who's seen Who's That Knocking At My Door? It's the only Scorsese movie I don't really enjoy at all.

Easily 3 of those could be my top, but have to go with Casino.

Bob D, Pesci and Stone are all flawless. Amazing film.

This is one of the few wildly popular directors that I think deserves everything's he's got. His movies have gotten very subtly worse as he grows older, though. He has never really misfired in his entire career, though. At least I don't think so.

I think the best was Casino. Some brutal scenes that stick in my memory a lot more than his other films. Not sure if that makes it the best but whatevr

Taxi Driver, because it perfectly captures the experience of being an alienated, disillusioned loner.

Goodfellas is more entertaining, and just as masterful, but there are several other great gangster/crime movies out there. I don't know of any other film that captures what Taxi Driver captured.

His latest movie, American Hustle is 'effing awesome. As for favorite I'll go with Taxi Driver or The Last Temptation of Christ.

? I don't think he had anything to do with American Hustle lol.

Anyways I've recently "discovered" him and omg is he amazing, he's already probably one of my top 3 fav directors of all time. Of the films I've seen I'd rank them, based on enjoyment,

GoodFellas
The Departed
Wolf of Wall Street
Shutter island
Taxi Driver
Cape fear

I greatly enjoyed all of these films, except Cape Fear which I thought was trash. Planning on watching Casino, The kings of Comedy, After hours, and Gangs of NY this week as well.

Well, I just finished watching Raging Bull...and I can confidently say it ain't that!

My favorites:

(1) Taxi Driver
(2) The Departed
(3) Goodfellas

Still need to see Gangs of New York.

I'd say The Departed followed by Wolf of Wall Street, but need to watch his other movies again. I didn't really like the end of Goodfellas and thought the way they were caught was sloppy, but its based on a true story so whatever. They just should've been smarter than that.
I guess a similar thing happened in Wolf but it didn't seem to ruin the end of the movie for me.

1 - Casino
2 - The Wolf of Wall Street
3 - The Departed

I just watched Wolf of Wall Street this week and absolutely loved it. Goodfellas and Taxi Driver could have been on my top3 also

You mean besides Goodfellas? Because it is Goodfellas.

Goodfellas.
The Aviator
The Departed

That's my top 3. I guess I'm the only one here that really likes The Aviator. :p

Zeus Molecules

illegal immigrants are stealing our air
My top 5

Casino
Goodfellas
The Color of Money
Wolf of Wall Street
Mean Streets

I've always felt the departed was overrated except for jack nicholson and Ray Winstone's scenes. They made that movie and didn't get nearly enough screen time. Raging Bull is amazing but I rarely watch it and I need to see the aviator too but I hear good things.

Also Wolf of Wall Street was the best comedy of 2013.

The general critical consensus is that Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and Goodfellas are three of the best films ever made and hence, trying to choose between them is pretty pointless.

(I'm ashamed to admit I haven't seen any of them...)

Havnt seen raging bull or taxi driver in a VERY long time, i dont remember nothing from them. (except the mirror scene from....taxi driver)

Im going to go with Cape Fear, especially since it spawned one of the best simpsons episodes ever.
