I don't know how many games will support this in the long run.
Shooters most likely won't because PC players would slaughter console players
MMO's probably will happen assuming MS softens their stance on paywalls there
Sports titles, particularly EA ones are probably going to jump on this
Honestly this probably helps ms in this case when more people are on ps4 to be able to say you won't lose playing with friends if you prefer the Xbox one (or the PC).
Megaton. Now you don't need to buy the same console to play with your friends.
Gigaton right here
They're in a losing position either way.
Give up a platform advantage or look like the restrictive bad guys Microsoft looked like earlier this generation.
Smart play by Microsoft.
Yeah, they always said it would be ok by them. But of course nothing have ever been implemented to this day, theoretically thanks to Microsoft's close-minded approach.
I'm just saying all they need is to lit the green light now, there's nothing in their way anymore. And then we're GO.
I'm referring specifically about X1/PS4 crossplay. Of course Sony has been one step ahead with PS4/PC since the beginning of this gen.
Now for PS to follow suit
I notice everyone keeps bringing up big AAA third-party titles (like CoD/Battlefield/Destiny) but, this seems to me like it's clearly only meant for id@xbox games. Like, why else would it be specifically Chris Charla announcing it under the title "ID@Xbox Updates?"
It's still cool, and all, but, not so sure it means all third-party games from big publishers can do this, yet.
Right now, as im writing this, the bolded doesn't make any sense.
On cross network play: gamers want more people to play with. We're enabling that and giving devs bigger MP pools.
Sony has allowed it since ff11. Get out of here with this "Sony is the bad guy" talk. The fact of the matter is that the devs decide if they want to mix pools of players.
So...if this means a Friends List for each game like SF5...
are we seeing the heralded return of Friend Codes?
Embarrassing.
Holy shit. A future Miyazaki directed, FROM game with cross-play between all platforms. Hnnnnnng.
It's fun to take potshots at Nintendo
Well, ain't that something.
Your move, Sony.
Different platforms get different, competing covenants. Taking the console wars to new levels
Hu? Rocket League has a PC/PS4 cross platform multiplayer since launch.(Rocket League is currently PC/XBO cross platform multiplayer at the moment).
Pft at least u apologized and edited more than alot on here can say.I realized the stupidity of my comment and edited it for more transparency. I apologize.
Sony has always allowed it...it's why FF14 is on PS and not Xbox. They haven't had Xbox<-> PS interaction before but that was always because of Xbox's policy.
What the fuck does that even mean?
Sony has been fine with this since day one.
This thread is not for me.
They already do.
