Fun fact: That 53 MHz increase in terms of computational power is greater than Xbox, PS2, GameCube, Dreamcast and Wii computational power combined
So that's why the box is so big!

Perhaps something like...
"This increase in clockspeed is a significant improvement, closing a lot of ground in the very minor difference in performance between the two systems."
Wow, MS bumping specs while Sony takes RAM away from games. It's time to rethink who has the momentum going into next-gen.
Back compat with OG Xbox confirmed!
Can you name a few?Sony has been doing that for the last 6 or 7 years. Just not for multi-plat titles.
What kind of temp increase would 53mhz show? Just curious. Can't imagine its that much of a difference
53Mhz is not worthy of an announcement.
Point and laugh at Microsoft.
If the Wii U got a 53 MHz bump, it would be a game changer. ;D
This thread is making a 10,000 times bigger deal of it than the actual podcast does. They present it as "tweaking some knobs" and then quickly move on. It takes 15 seconds.

You are a gentlemen and a scholar. Could you recommend a good head examiner? I'm getting a XboxOne?Microsoft continues to scramble to get their house in order. I really wonder what kind of launch these guys are going to brew up. Anyone buying one of these things at launch really needs their head examined, especially with Microsoft's track record.

Regardless of the sick awesome console warz waging in this thread, this is good news I guess. I'll take whatever MS can give to raise the bottom line, even if it's tiny.
Is 53mhz a lot?
Funny to see microsoft acting like this. Feels like they rushed things a bit...

The PS4: now only 40% more powerful!
Sony has been doing that for the last 6 or 7 years. Just not for multi-plat titles.
This has bumped up the framerate by 1.
what an odd piece of PR
I don't get that feeling. It feels more like they're just finally nailing everything down for production.
Hopefully Sony shifts over to a more traditional means of dedicated servers moving forward:
Not sure if they already have.
Video as well? Thats cool. I didn't know thatSkype on Vita could also call PC, phones... basically any Skype. Of couse X1 was going to be able to do the same.
An X1-to-X1 only Skype is basically no longer Skype.
MAG, TLoU, Motorstorm, Warhawk, UT3, Killzone, among others.
Mostly first-party though.
A 6.6% increase on what was previously assumed. Not exactly a game changer.
Good thing I mentioned it! You think someone over there might be taking notes?now as you mention it - should be an easy task for ms.
Can you inform everyone the exciting features that the ps4 will have?

Sold! I'll take two PS4s, please. It's Naughty Dog. That's all Sony has.
Apparently its a 6% increase

Did they really "announce" it though? lol. Just seems like a little tidbit to me. They're making use of the huge box by squeezing every bit possible out of their graphics processor. Good shit.
I wonder if Sony would be able to do the same, or if the size of the PS4 prevents that.
A 6.6% increase is not going to make a big difference, but the more interesting part for me is that MS is releasing a podcast to tell us about it. This is all part of the marketing and presentation and since Mattrick left it has been MUCH better. It's clear that they've identified their weak points and then thought about what information they needed to put out there to win people around. Personally I don't think they've made any big system or policy changes apart from scrapping the DRM, it's all been a question of presentation. But they're definitely managing to turn things around.
Since their chip doesn't have embedded ram (which is typically hot) they SHOULD be able to.
This console feels so rushed and MS seems so unsure what they need to do.
I concur 100%
