16 hours of data obtained from the mocap sessions, not 16 actual in-game hours of possible/different sex cutscenes.

Remains to be seen then. As Witcher 3 has 96 animations just for Geralt's combat moves, which are unique to him, there's also a ton of animations for things like swimming, conversation animations, contextual animations like running down hills etc. Plus the game has almost double number of animations of Witcher 2.
http://www.gamereactor.eu/news/119424/The+Witcher+3+to+have+12,000+animations/ That's just 1K below AC:U. So it definitely remains to be seen.
They really can't think of a better way to introduce a female character that Geralt cares without a porn scene ?
"Through sex we have shown that this is a person who Geralt would be compelled to chase after if she went missing.
"We couldn't just tell you to go find someone you don't know or care about," he said. "It wouldn't work."
I mean CDPR is good at making games but this is laughable.
Probably the worst way to establish a female character is through making her a sex object. They just can't wrap their heads around making a decent female character :/
For one, they're not actually having sex when you meet her. It's after, basically.
Two, Europeans are generally less prudish about sex. The developers don't see nudity or sex as some bad or shameful thing. It's perfectly appropriate for the world they've created.
Witcher 2 was sex first too with Triss, so it all depends in how well rounded of a character Yennifer is in addition to that. I'm more concerned with the potential woman in fridge trope if Yennifer is absent from the game for a while. They really can't think of a better way to introduce a female character that Geralt cares without a porn scene ?

Then what about Ciri his daughter ?
I mean we gotta find her too..How will they introduce her ?
What didnt you like about Triss? I liked her in both Witcher 1 and Witcher 2. There was the whole "rescue the princess" feel in TW2, but at the same time you could never trust her 100% and felt something was going on in the background.Triss was a fairly terrible character imo ,and I hope they don't constrain Yennefer into Brunette Triss...That would be disappointing.

No idea if they're rigid or the exact process that they used to update their animation pipeline for Geralt but judging from gameplay videos the transitions look much better than the witcher 2 and the general animation quality is better. But remember, the original convo was about why Geralt's animations wouldn't look as good as Nathan Drake's and if he would have more. Which considering that W3 is an open world game with only one fully playable character throughout the campaign, is pretty likely. However since UC4 is more linear, it will undoubtedly have much better animation quality. But are those rigid set-animations? I think the full-body physics would have potential of pulling in more unique animations even outside ND's implementation as it was stated similar to the Euphoria engine from R*.
As other have said before, Yennefer isn't introduced via sex scene. Nudity=/=sex scene.I amnot saying they shouldn't do any scenes.
But I just strongly disagree that Sex scenes are the best way to introduce a main character.
TW2 yennefer flashbacks were far more interesting for instance!

and what I have heard and read, Yennefer isn't introduce just with after sex scene and showing butt, but also there's a conversation between her and Geralt and overall everyone at all the previews events thought that it was a great moment and it presented well the relationship between the two.. man, in the books some sex scene are described in great detail - not even the games have such scenes.. intimate scenes can show how close two people really are - and that's how CD Projekt RED decided to show at first the relationship between Yennefer & Geralt.. nothing wrong with that

The female characters in Witcher books and in Witcher games (even in W1) are complex, strong and deep.. one of the best when it comes to games... and what I have heard and read, Yennefer isn't introduce just with after sex scene and showing butt, but also there's a conversation between her and Geralt and overall everyone at all the previews events thought that it was a great moment and it presented well the relationship between the two.. man, in the books some sex scene are described in great detail - not even the games have such scenes.. intimate scenes can show how close two people really are - and that's how CD Projekt RED decided to show at first the relationship between Yennefer & Geralt.. nothing wrong with that
Phillippa? Cynthia? Shani? White Rayla? SASKIA?
All I see in The Witcher series is interesting, complex, intriguing, strong and 'decent' female characters. Sure, there's also the whores, the oppressed, the ones who'll offer sex to be spared, but that's all part and parcel of the medieval-like setting.
The opening sequence with Yennefer isn't just going to be, "Hello > Sex > Now the audience knows Yen/Geralt are a couple" ... Of course there will be more to it, it's just the Developer breaking the sequence down to its most simplified form. I can almost guarantee that not only will there be plenty of dialogue in that sequence, but you'll probably realize more about Geralt/Yen's relationship just through the way they interact with each other, and then the sex will just 100% cement it. Also I heard in one preview you don't actually see the sex scene, it's just implied.
I know when I started The Witcher 2 the subtle element of "Oh these 2 guys probably had sex last night" was there, but it wasn't what made me realize Triss/Geralt were a thing, it was the way they spoke to each other, it was the basic interactions between the two and how "comfortable" they were together, and seeing her naked at the start just cemented that them being together was definitely what the situation was.
I 100% believe it won't be as shallow as it initially sounds.

It's so weird to me seeing all those accusations of sexism in the Witcher series (outside of the cards from the first game), when the games feature some of the strongest female characters in gaming.
Do some just automatically equate women having sex with sexism?

Triss is actually a very badass and deep character. She wasa war hero, she saved Yennefer, she helped train Ciri.
She had a weakness, that is Geralt. Basically the girl is crazy for him but he is madly in love with Yen.
So yeah, overall Triss is awesome.
Definitely.
Yen wouldn't react nicely to what happened in the previous games though. She knows Triss is crazy about Geralt and she tries to ignore that as much as possible because they're friends, but this is different. They've been in a steady relationship throughout the first 2 games. That is something Yen wouldn't ignore and CDPR should tackle that issue.
Heh, I wouldn't say they are friends, something close to that but not quite. They are more like 2 people with the same interests in mind, care about the same person, but also competing, frienemy?
If anything, I would like to see her give Geralt craps about all that affair because she knows Triss can't help it. Plus Yen alreadyTriss once. lol.threatened
Triss kinda does takes advantage of a Geralt who's not quite the same since losing his memory. There's potential for an awesome scene here.
Apparently, the game will have at least 16 hours of se..cutscenes.
It still wouldn't look bad even for PC. I really don't fucking understand what impresses people anymore. Its no wonder publishers are spending ludicrous amounts of money on making these games, because people are so quick to shit on anything they deem 'not the best looking thing ever'.

How is the article misleading? They specifically point out the difference.
The post you quoted was misleading, if anything.
Not only that but it seems ND is pulling all stops to making the transitions as fluid as possible. I'm pretty sure that's going to take more than just X defined set animations as you need something to fill in the "blanks" - that possibly being the inverse-kinematics or full body physics systems. Question is however, is how diverse such systems are because if it's procedural than ND has almost a near infinite way of interacting in the environment whether it be falling, fighting, climbing, rolling etc.
Let's be honest here (and keep in mind that ND and CDPR are 2 of my top 3 studios). If I was doing a linear game that only has a fraction of the size and depth and with a bigger budget to boot, I'd make damn sure to at least beat contemporary open world games in the animation department. This comparison is completely unfair and I'm not even sure where it came from. Did anyone hold Skyrim to Uncharted 2's animation standard? Come on...
A user on their forums found a interesting comparison shot. An example of how the time of day/weather conditions can affect a scene.
Are these both from the same build of the game? Or is one of them an old shot vs a new shot?

Think this should be used as an example whenever says that a lighting change=downgrade. With (actual spoiler)a tutorial flashback showing Geralt training her as a child.
