There are plenty of mobile phone party games though. This seems awfully elaborate for trying to scratch that itch.
I can see it having some appeal, but not being a huge sales thing.
I mean back in grad school when I was still having biggish (20-30 people) parties in my home the TV would often be people playing Wii Sports or Guitar Hero. It wasn't a focus of the party, usually just a coupe people playing, a few watching and most ignoring it.
It also wasnt' a selling factor. None of my friends ever asked about them, what they cost etc. or to my knowledge bought a console and the games. It was mostly just my already gamer friends who had the same games at home playing, and occasionally some girlfriends etc. taking a turn.
I see this being the same as best, with potentially some added appeal to being able to do it in as park or at a happy hour etc. rather than just at house parties. There are a lot of bars that have board games etc., not to mention the popularity of trivia nights etc. I'm skeptical Switch will be used in public that often, but who knows. At 38 I don't pretend to be in tune with the young adult crowd anymore.
