Lain is still my number one anime. Remember watching it when I was younger and the concepts it presented and how it's message and themes still ring true to this day. Now I have to find the damn theme song again.

Please stop killing my favorite porn stars, actors, and animators, cancer. The world is a sadder place with you depriving it of entertainment.

This is a huge bummer. I just watched Serial Experiments Lain and Kino's Journey this summer and they were both pretty incredible, Lain especially.

A requiem for what might have been, and will now probably never happen.

I wish he'd let someone else take over his work when he fell ill.

Damn it. I absolutely adored his work, Lain is easily one of my favorite animes in a very long time. It's a huge loss, might he rest in peace.

First Kon, and now Nakamura. This sucks so bloody much. RIP. I loved Lain, and now I must watch Nakamura's other stuff.

Pretty much the only one I can think of now who can take over Despera is Tomokazu Tokoro, the Lain alum who directed Haibane Renmei, Niea_7, and the first four episodes of Hellsing Ultimate.

But it still just wouldn't be the same. No one understood the impact of good audio design quite like Nakamura. :-(

Would there be any interest in a scheduled group discussion/viewing of Lain, or would everyone rather watch it on their own time?

I never saw Lain, but Kino's Journey is my favorite show and one of the best ever (IMO). He was such a unique and great artist.

RIP
