No New Final Fantasy XV Info at E3 2014

Whoever took that screen cap in their own home theater is an idiot.

FFXIII collection would be possible, they completely overkilled it with FFVII.

I wasn't terribly impressed by last year's footage, so I doubt it. I don't know how anybody can still stay super-hyped for a game that's been in development hell for nearly a decade now.

Development hell has only added to the mystique surrounding The Last Guardian, if anything.

I still care, its just I was a hardcore Square fan from NES/SNES days. This new SE is a different beast then the Square I used to love. I actually liked FFXIII but the fact we only got one FF main title, and a not so great one at that and not much else out of SE this gen (yes I liked Bravely Default) put into perspective with their past output i've gone lukewarm on what they are offering up. I can't stay hyped up for 8 years for a game with only a couple trailers to show. That's totally absurd.

A few trailers? Maybe. But how do you know you'll still feel that way once we see a proper rollout with extensive previews and demoes?

I think what little they've shown looks really, really cool, but the fact is that the whole game still feels more like a proof of concept than a tangible product that's well on it's way. There isn't enough there there regardless of SE's empty declarations to the contrary. Thus I don't put much stock in people just throwing up their hands yet.

Well I am. Let me enlighten you friend.

Square Enix just shot themselves in the foot.I don’t know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I’m an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It’s not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole.
LOL xD

E3 is not the "optimal" moment to reveal new info? The fuck did I just read?

So, at least in the past, there has been a sort of "agreement" between E3 and TGS that they'll split the Japanese announcements between the two shows so TGS isn't completely irrelevant.

So the "later in the year" comment could be indicative that they're saving it for TGS?

I have come up with three theories.

1.Square Enix has has lied about XV going into full production and has secretly had the XV team working on other projects like A Realm Reborn and Lightning Returns. (This is what i suspect has happened.)

2.Final Fantasy XV is having severe technical issues that they are having trouble correcting (which isn't a crazy prediction seeing as how badly messed up with their PS3 engine) or the project is to ambitious for the tools/hardware they are working with.

3.The XV team is just slow and/or doesn't have enough people on the team (In which case KH3 should have never started production).

All 3 are probably wrong.

It just seems like awful management and constant scrapping of ideas.

Is there any truth to Hashimoto saying development is going smoothly?

As smoothly as this.

At this point I wouldn't even be surprised if Half Life 3 is announced at E3 for a late 2014 release. Just imagine that. Half Life 3 coming out before XV and the Last Guardian.

I've heard various things over the years from different people about how bad the development situation on Versus and S-E Japan in general are. Poor management, resources being wasted, gameplay not coming together, staff getting frustrated with how things are going. Doesn't paint a particularly nice picture. The concept for the the game has been really appealing to me from the moment it was announced, but it's been really disheartening to see clear signs that the company is really struggling to turn it into the big blockbuster success they need this to be.

Browsing through the thread, saw this. I mean, dammit, can't you just go back to mocking us for our hope? This cut so much worse. ;; The pain...

This was really the biggest reason I was excited for E3, and having it taken away once more just reveals the bleak truths stated above. I can't even continue to hope against the odds that this game will come out great despite all the struggles. I'm truly heartbroken.

Forget about this game. Accept our lord and savior, Persona 5 into your heart.

Isn't SE more focused on FFXIVARR at this point for 2014? It makes sense if they are since it has been successful. 2015 feels like the better reveal. As for a release date, maybe 2016. But seriously, FFXV is way low on the radar for me. There's so much more to look forward too. When the game comes, we'll see how it is.

I just seriously don't get it. Like, they have to have something there to show off, it's been in full speed development since 2011(when we got a 6 minute trailer). What is a more optimal time to show off new shit?

I have to think this signals the end of AAA development at Square. I can't imagine these projects are profitable anymore. Whether XV and KH3 ever release, I will be surprised if they announce another major title again. They have done nothing to indicate they can improve their rate of content development and that just doesn't fit with the new reality of game making. Sad really.

First I've heard of this but I suppose that would make sense.
But hasn't FFXV mostly been shown at E3 first in the past?
I don't think it would make much sense to break from this now.

But then again, SE has been so dysfunctional the past decade, they make Capcom look good.

Well a good thing from your future scenario would be no Kingdom Hearts 4. I love Kingdom Hearts, but the plot should be wrapped up in 3. Where are they going to find a better villain that the one they have now lol.

This is how it feels. SE dancing around those who wanted and making the most of it.

Well there goes a chance of my December 2015 release date for Japan.

They could, I don't know... hire competent managers?
Review their developping process?

Given how much more complex development process have been established (and are working) in other fields, I can't imagin that SE, with all the talents they still have, couldn't turn around and become much more effective.

But for that they should finally recognize their failure in the past 10+ years (which, from an outsider point of view, means Nomura and some others should get demoted, I'd say), and rethink the hole thing.

Someone, I think from Sony, told me about that arrangement a few years ago.

It could also be that there was a production delay, or Nomura is just endlessly pixelfucking the trailer and thus it "wasn't ready" in time for E3. His "attention to detail" is a big part of the reason why his games tend to take forever to develop, after all.

Then Square parlayed that into a reason to move it to TGS so they're contributing to that event.

Definitely : )

#Enough with fucking lightning and focus FFXV now
So you want to start a Twitter campaign to tell SE to do what they are already doing.... The smart thing to do would be to make them aware of the importance of giving people frequent updates on XV and organizing development to be more efficient to speed it up otherwise they'll just ignore the campaign and rightly so. They already mentioned that they are focusing on FFXV or at least that development is going well so if someone is to start a campaign, be intelligent about it, please.

They are done with Lightning, the trilogy is officially over, they are not making anything Lightning centered anymore and if they ever do the trilogy collection thing it won't have impact on any of the main teams.... People talking about Lightning as if it's a permanent thing is getting really annoying. If you want it to die.. Shut up about it, the joke is getting old.. It's dead, done , over..

#FF15@E3 is probably a better tag.

Would people rather have nothing than FFXIII on PS4 ?

The game would look insanely beautiful...It would hardly stop FFXV from getting made.

FFXV's development is in deep , deep shit that's got nothing to do with an HD collection.

In addition, the HD collection isn't happening anyway.

Even if they had given us a trailer, there wouldn't be a release date on it which would result in the exact same complaints we have now. In least the false hope is crushed and people are saved from disappointment.

With this short an amount of time before E3, that would probably be best. If someone could throw together a well thought out write up as to why we deserve to see it at E3 and link it with the hash tag for everyone to tweet that would be about as much as anyone could do.

Unfortunately though, it's so damn close to E3 I'm not sure there's really any hope that they'd see the campaign and throw something together in time. I don't think they'd bother. Had they outright said it a month ago however, then there may have been a chance or if someone started a campaign when Kagari warned us then possibly, but at this point we might as well accept its absence.

A new trailer would have at least assured us that everything was ok. Now we know something is wrong.
Oh I get what you are saying now.

You may be right, but it could be worth a shot.
