'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

Unless you're a horrible shot and dont explore anywhere, there will be absolutely zero struggle, desperation or anxiety over a lack of ammunition or crafting supplies on Normal and below, which to me kills a major part of the whole experience and what ND was trying to convery when creating the game.

Exactly this. That first playthrough will be the most memorable, and playing it on Hard the first time is unforgettable. Playing on Normal first, then trying the harder difficulties after lacks the impact of not knowing what's coming next, and having minimal supplies to choose from.

1. I heard the cutscenes will still use the ingame models, and as those have been dramatically improved, expect nothing PS3.

2. You, AND EVERYBODY ELSE, who didn't take the plunge into MP owes it to themselves to do so this time around at 60fps. I am a competitive focussed player, not pro or obsessive, but I love social contest - and this game is my MP of the last 5 years. It is intensely tactical, cooperative, credible, stressful, real, in all the ways that countless military shooters claim to be, and this is not one of those. In terms of references: Gears of War for it's small team 3rd person arena combination with strategy, emphasis on revives and following-through with executions, teamplay. It moves like nothing else, so fluid traversal, your avatar touching and connecting with the world, and the pace is forced to a more gradual, considered, cagey rhythm which I adore. Maybe more Splinter Cell, or Day Z.. life is precious and all of the values of SP carry over. Listen Mode is your radar, that makes careless players lighthouses, and stealthy ones predators. It is beautiful to have matches erupt into occasional crescendo firefights that ebb and flow and dissipate as the stakes get too high. TRY IT. You will get butchered at first, I did, there will be dozens of seasoned players returning. But skill is the only advantage, it is balanced. You will find your own style, and love will ensue. At least play yourself through 12 weeks of getting your head caved in, and by then you'll know..

3. Yes, Grounded Mode. It is brutal. Actually the ones already there are pretty brutal. So much to enjoy.

Excellent post. Never played the MP tbh, enjoyed the SP a lot, but this post makes me wanna play the MP.

The lack of any gameplay footage is a little concerning. They still have a month to show something but yeah.... they should hurry up and show it already.

Quick Random question on Retail version of The Last of Us. I have the Steel case from my PS3 collectors edition from The last of us. Will the PS4 bluray fit in that case, are they basically the same Dimensions just different disc speeds?

Because I don't want to ebay the EU steel book for PS4.

PS3 copy was a Bluray, PS4 will be too. Identical dimensions in terms of the disc.

This sounds great. There hasn't been a game since the original Gears of War that really captivated me multiplayer wise. Heck, hardly any multiplayer games even have a system where dying really matters. It's like playing poker for fake money, no one cares about playing like a jackass and it completely changes the dynamic. Really looking forward to digging into this. Thanks for the great write up.

Ha! Thanks everybody. You like my words because they spill from the heart for this game, and most of all, astonishingly.. for its MULTIPLAYER.

Yes, it's really concerning. ND are known for poor games and I can't imagine TLOUR being any different ... They clearly daren't show it for fear of huge repercussions. It's not as if they can risk low sales because it did so poorly on the PS3 ...

How is easy mode compared to normal mode? Like, too easy?

I was wondering because in the beginning of a new game I really suck at it(like WD), and later on I change it to normal or higher.

I assume we're getting some gameplay footage soon. I mean, the game releases in just 4 weeks! All that teasing on Twitter from ND, makes me want to see it even more.

I imagine the difficulty is like an inverse of the Rambo series.

I'd suggest normal with Listen Mode turned off. It's challenging enough, but not too easy. You'll find plenty of crafting supplies to upgrade with, and just enough ammo to not completely remove the challenge.

Tlou:R and GTA will be absolutely new to me.

So, so jealous. Played these both on PS3 and they were great, but I'm picking them up again on PS4. Can't imagine how floored people like yourself will be by the better versions.

Just imagine for a moment, the handful of Elite PC gamers who's last Grand Theft Auto experience was GTA IV on Xbox 360 or PS3, some years ago.

They happen to have (or purchase / build) a very high end PC configuration: newest/newer Intel Core i7 CPU OC to 4.5+ GHz, gobs of RAM, fast SSD, SLI'd graphics cards, etc etc.

They skip the PS4 & Xbox One versions and go straight to PC GTAV. They download some brand new ENB / iCEnhancer graphic mods from the GTA community and they're able to play @ 60 FPS in higher-than-1080p resolutions, maybe even 4K. Tons of AA, post process effects, just Ultra everything.

And with all that it looks nearly a generation beyond this:

I wonder what their reactions would be.

"Gezus Fucking Christ!"
cannot even begin to describe GTAV on a PC

Thanks! Will try on normal first.

I hope my mother likes the story from TLoU, we played the Walking Dead together and she really liked that game. So I hope she will be watching me playing this :)

The single most important thing you need to do to truly enjoy TLoU is turn off listen mode. It is seriously atmosphere destroying and makes so many areas which should be intense blood chilling experiences become: lol gogo gadget x-ray vision!

You are welcome . I will be in Italy on holiday when the game is being released though :/ I almost can't wait to get home to experience the game once more and try the MP offcourse. But then again, the Italian food and women are too good to pass :D If I get home, I'll try to hit you up. Enjoy!

Am I the only who gets OCD when the framerate is different between SP and MP? It makes me not want to play it.

Either make it 60fps for SP/MP or 30fps for SP/MP.

Don't want no hybrid shit.

The fact it's censored in Europe, and features only a competitive mode, makes me pass it, again.

Its optional, I never used it. I beat it like it and had no problems with the game. But its a good tip, not to use it at all.

Read my earlier post, and buy US. And this is the most collaborative competitive you'll get.

But wouldn't I lose everything included in the season pass by doing so? Anyways, I still wish the MP had a horde-like mode against the infected and the hunters.

Why? The whole game runs at 60

So you're playing the PS3 version for the SP and the PS4 version for the MP ?

I'm so confused.

Pay attention everyone:

I'm still putting my money on SP=30 fps en MP=60fps

I hope she
ntkrnl
can confirm that SP is running at 30 fps

I'm mocking him.

Though he didn't seem to get it:

Agreed.
SP will be 30 fps :) you should mark my words

I'd be in the dick
You want to believe 60 fps....do so, be my guest. But don't insult my believes in 30fps.
If you want me to believe you, you need to offer some proof when you're directly contradicting developer claims. I'll gladly admit that you are right and apologize if you can put forth some evidence. Multiple programmers and designers at ND have mentioned the benefits of 60fps in this game for both SP and MP. You even just claimed you aren't an insider so why should I believe your hunch?
