GTA V reveal @ IGN tomorrow 9am PT/12pm ET/5pm GMT with exclusive gameplay #1

First-person mode has lots and lots of options that can be toggled. Almost like an FPS loadout. You can be in first person on foot then set it to automatically pop into third person when driving. Stay in first person when in cover, or leave first person when entering cover, etc.

This is perfect for me.

I was expecting first person to be a rather slap dash effort but it looks like they spent a fair bit of time remodeling vehicle interiors and setting up the guns and such, though maybe the hip fire positions for some guns feel way too big and off a little, nothing some tweaks can't redeem.

Excited as hell to double dip. Fuck yeah. Between Smash, ORAS, Halo MCC, and this, I'm not going to do anything productive for the rest of the year.

Definitely. I mean it's southern California, so it's just sometimes overcast, regular rain, or full blown storms (though those are cool with wind and lightning / thunder) but they're in there.

Thank you.

Yes like in RDR loved how turned overcast all the sudden, adds to the immersion, I swear in that game when it rained I could imagine smelling the wet dirt and vegetation lol.

:)

Few thoughts from CVG GTAVO'Clock

  • first person mode is a fundamental rework of the game, not a 3rd person version where the camera has been tricked to look first person."
  • 3,000 animations for the gun reloads?
  • New "locomotion animation" when you start running
  • Phone exists as full 3D object
  • If you look down you see your legs
  • You see tracks changing on the stereo in the car
  • You toggle First Person mode using the touch pad on PS4... Maybe the back/menu button on X1?
  • Controls in first person are very customizable... With new aiming settings
  • There is a setting to have it change to 3rd person if you get hit by a vehicle or something else disorienting. You can turn this off as well.

Still listening..

They also say they will not reveal details on the new modes or missions.

Totally. If you enjoyed that in RDR then you'll love the storms in here. They can get intense.

And the details are impressive. Water pools on roads and sidewalks, dampens the character's clothes, gets sprayed around by car tires, etc. The lightning and thunder looks and sounds impressive also.

Interested to see what the "enhanced" weather effects will be in this version.

man, if you can keep the first person camera on when falling or being hit / spun that is amazing, will be really scary to jump between buildings up high.

Man it is so tempting to try and go after that gta v ps4 bundle after seeing this, though I'm also salivating for the pc version cause I know somebody is gonna mod in oculus rift support in like the first week it's out. Conflicted!

More:

  • You can toggle depth of field on and off. Fully customizable... Suggests more customizing options for visual settings.
  • If you look in the distance from Vinewood hills you can see cars/lights driving over the distant bridges.
  • 150 new songs on the radio
  • A lot more dialogue, and "hours and hours" of new in game audio... New ads, new bits on the radio, new chatterbox content

New radio station by chance?

They've confirmed hours of new music, but no confirmation on new radio stations. Sounds like they're expanding what they have for stations, just adding more. Apparently 150 new tracks.

From CVG:

When driving in First person mode, if you hold down on the Dpad, the character ducks below the dashboard to avoid being shot. This obscures your view but let's you avoid taking damage..

New settings:
- Assisted full, assisted partial, free aim assisted (brief lock on), completely free aim
- first person on foot field of view sliders, ragdoll setting for first person
- Map is at a different angle in first person mode

Jesus.

Did anyone actually expect 60 fps given the scale and enhancements in this game? Cmon...

Anyways 30 is good as long as it holds. Been playing lots of ACIV lately and it's fine

What enchantments?
A few extra bits of foliage & more cars on screen (who the hell wants that, the traffic is already dense as it is in the game).

From the video, the shadows still look like ass after a few feet in front of you. The Anisotropic filtering still looks bad & I could spot jaggies, so no huge jump in Anti Aliasing either.

& fuck 30fps being "good enough". Maybe for a state of the art/made from the ground up/fully maxing the system, but for a last gen port?

This is as bad as the recent GTA San Andreas PS2 port being 30fps on XBLA.

Ugh, I'm going to have to go through hell upgrading my PC, reading pages upon pages on what is compatible with my existing hardware & what runs what at what settings to be able to play GTAV at a good framerate.
I was hoping that it wouldn't come to this.
