New Dengeki PlayStation Interviews (Gravity Rush, Capcom, Granzella)

New PlayStation Dengeki Interviews:

Horiyuki Kobayashi (Capcom)
- Several games will be both announced and released in 2015

Kazuma Kujou (Granzella)
- A new Disaster Report game is coming in Autumn. Also, two titles coming for PS Vita, and a brand new action adventure game for PS4

Hashimoto Yusuke (Platinum Games)
- A new title is currently in progress

Kazutoshi Sekiguchi (Koei)
- Toukiden will continue evolving in 2015 (*previous interview earlier this year pretty much stated it would also be coming to home consoles)

Makoto Osaki (Sega)
- Unannounced game currently in development

Keiichi Toyama (SCEJ)
- It's been a long time since new information about the new Gravity Daze has surfaced, but people will understand immediately why when they see new footage

I got this:

Dragons Dogma 2
DMC5
Disaster Report 4
2 PSV titles
1 adventure PS4 title
MGR2
Toukiden 2
VF6
GR2 PS4

Because they didn't even try more then a year to save the system. Look what Nintendo is doing with the WiiU and they compare it with Sony and the Vita. They just released games that were too far in development and c1nned the rest.
You actually think Sony would just release GR2 instead of canning it if the only option was a Vita release? lol

The game wasn't exactly far off in development. It was a much better idea to upgrade it into a console game to take advantage of the PS4's momentum than willingly send it to die on the Vita wasteland.

I seriously hope that GR2 is multiplat. The Japanese will probably buy the Vita version while the Westerners will buy the PS4 version. That'll give it the best chance of success imo.

How well did GR1 sell anyway?

As for multiplat, I can't imagine it. If GR2 is developed focusing on the PS4 properly, the Vita version would be so far removed that it'd almost be a different game. Imagine something like Infamous:SS getting downported to Vita. *shudders*

Sony has dropped support for the Vita way too fast and Yoshida is to blame as the head of SCEWWS:

-Studio Liverpool: disbanded after releasing a Vita launch game.
-BigBig: disbanded after releasing a Vita launch game.
-Zipper: disbanded after releasing a Vita launch window game and several others in a short period before. One of their games got hit by PSN outage.
-Sony Bend: moved to PS4 after releasing the most successful Vita launch game instead of doing one more Uncharted or other cover based shooter for Vita right away with the tech they already have.
-Guerilla Games Cambridge: seemingly moved over to console development after releasing a graphically benchmark on handheld platforms instead of continuing with a new shooter using the tech.
-Nihilistic Studios: Yoshida gave them Resistance even though they were known to be subpar shovelware developers.
-Polyphony Digital: the Vita gets not even a token announcement for the biggest franchise Sony has. It would have sold systems on its promise alone and seemingly they never really intended bringing it over.
-Media Molecule: one of the best Vita exclusives gets an extended port on the PS4.

and now
-Team Gravity: sequel to Vita exclusive gets moved to PS4.

Yoshida never supported the Vita. The studios that released launch games could have had their next one on the horizon or released already but instead, the Vita even loses its exclusives. Other big Sony franchises get passed over to bad developers or not even announced.

It's the reality of the market. Vita has no place in the current market, it only appeals to a niche of core gamers and Sony has acknowledged it long ago when COD and AC:Liberty failed to sell, at the end of 2012. They have tried to reinvent the system in different ways, first as the home for innovative and great indie titles, then they tried to place it as a PS4 companion hardware with the remote playing...now it's basically whatever they can still get with minimum costs working close with a few developers to keep their installed base alive.
Also in your list you don't mention that all the titles they made for Vita including Gravity Rush, Killzone Mercenary and Tearaway bombed.
Continuing making Vita titles in this environment is just a waste of resources and people have to accept it.
Gravity Rush will find a much better home on PS4 where it can hope to be recognized, sell well and become an other important Sony series.
On Vita it would be sent to die just to please what....100k potential customers?

No I said that they canned every unannounced Vita games from WWS with GR2 being the exception because they most likely moved it to PS4. If they didn't moved it to the PS4 it would have been canned, that's what is pissing me off.

And the wasteland is Sony's fault, they should have handle the release schedule better.

COD Vita is a shit game and everyone knows it, AC isn't specially great either.
I'm not sure GR bombed IIRC they wouldn't even release a retail version for it in the West but I could be wrong. KM was sent to die by releasing it close to GTAV, Tearaway in November wich is an busy month every year regarding bi games and AC:L and COD Vita released close to their console counterpart which hasn't helped either.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
Glad to see Gravity rush on PS4. Hopefully its PS4 exclusive so they can push the scope of the game, and hopefully an HD port of the first one.. I feel for the Vita fans, but its a fact that the platform is flatlined. The resources are better put to where they actually are going to make a difference.

They could have handled a lot of things better as far as the Vita goes, but GR2 has nothing to do with that.

The only thing GR2 being a Vita game could accomplish is killing off the franchise and fuck that shit. My Vita does not need it, I'm satisfied with what I have, it's best for GR to go to a console where it might have a chance of being something instead of sinking alongside the Vita.

I blame whoever thought of creating the Vita platform in the first place.

Honestly, I agree. I bought a Vita because I wanted the games, I didn't buy games because I wanted a Vita. I much prefer all of Sony's efforts being focused on one console. Tearaway and now Gravity Rush coming to PS4 would mean I could sell my Vita in good conscience and I'd be happier for it.

Not being able to play a game like Killzone: Mercenary until the next Guerilla Cambridge game will sting a bit, though.

Whatever he's referring to, I hope he's not involved with DMC5.

Hashimoto Yusuke (Platinum Games)

A year without a Platinum title is like a year without sunlight. You look forward to it when it's not there, it's usually very enjoyale but it's not always good for you.

It sold like 30-40k. It's not much but most Japan Studio games have relatively small budgets so it probably sold well enough to get a sequel. Outside of the ICO team, Sony Japan Studio's games generally don't really push the envelope so I think it's quite possible.

CoD and AC: L didn't fail to sell. CoD sold a shitload even though it was penned by the press and had probably the worst word of mouth (by people who didn't play it) in the history of gaming. Not bad for a game developed in 5 months.
AC: L did at least 600k (CoD did more) and Guillemot himself said it did ok.

Tearaway bombed but I am not certain about the other games. We only have NPD numbers but in Europe the Vita sells much better.

The thing is I don't thing releasing GR2 on PS4 will give it a chance at being relevant. Knowing Sony they will release it alongside one of the biggest game of the year without any marketing like they did with so many others.

Where did you got that number?
It was its first week sales from mediacrate. I checked back and it's actually 43k.
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/02/1...suikoden-returns-gravity-rush-speeds-to-vita/

It sold over 100k a month later.

Yes, I agree with this. Sony has a lot of good games that don't sell great and Gravity Rush will be one of them.

PS4 release will have >0% chance.

A Vita release will have a 0% chance, by the simple logic that Sony's given up on putting any real marketing dollars into Vita at all.

Potentially excited.

I'm not saying making it a PS4 game guarantees success

I can say however that making it a Vita game is a death sentence

Sorry, but 0% is bullshit and you know it. Games can be profitable on Vita. All this dead talk is getting really out of hand. It isn't a great platform for releases but still a viable.

No it had 0% chance. The game has already been in development for a while and will be in dev at least another year.

Sony is not even giving big games retail releases in NA anymore. What will it take for you guys to get it? It's not because they like being "mean to vita" or whatever.

Also, i hope that the platinum game is not MGR2. I tried the demo and just wasn't feeling it at all, and i was not interested in the MGS setting to begin with.

Make a new IP and give it the same combat depth as bayonetta

Name me some relevant Vita games worldwide.

I genuinely don't know any.

Define relevant?
I am talking about being profitable and there are enough Vita games that are. It won't be a blockbuster but the chance of GR2 being a blockbuster on PS4 are nearly the same. Game doesn't cry mass appeal with its unconventional gameplay, artsy world, crazy and weird story and faux french voice over.

It's good to see Sony saving some worthwhile IPs from the Vita wasteland. First Tearaway and now Gravity Rush apparently. I'd be ok if they ported Soul Sacrifice and Freedom Wars.

Also, I really hope Sony/Atlus port Persona 4 Golden before the Persona 5 release. I want to play P4, but I don't feel like buying the PS2 version knowing that there's a better, upgraded version out there and that maybe, just maybe they might port it.

they should stop making lbp.
If lbp stands for LittleBigPlanet, I'll let you know that IIRC both LBP1 and 2 sold around 5 million copies WW.
