Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4 is much, much better now. Bless.

Right, I bought the game from the US store. I deleted it and re-downloaded without the patch, so time to check some shit.

I'm both sad and surprised that this passed certification like this.

It kind of makes last month's PS Blog post from Gio Corsi seem really shallow, given he (probably?) didn't know any better about the state of the game:

"The amazing team at Other Ocean Interactive is putting the final touches on this fantastic version of the Capcom classic. I’d love to get it to you sooner, but honestly, we’re playing it too much, so you’ll just have to wait!"

:/

Hopefully it gets fixed soon, was looking forward to a solid version of this on current gen.

Holy crap dude, we get it. Why do you keep posting about how great its working for you?

So sorry for bothering you. Having you waste a whole 2 seconds to read my post in a thread of over a thousand at this point.

But if I can get a handful of people to be vocal where it really matters, than your two seconds will have been worth it to me.

K bye.

I've already done that but go right ahead.
Spent about an hour searching for anything and it seems like its exactly the same.

Heh, didn't see that.

Going to try once I get my new stick tomorrow. Got a switch on it between PS3 and 4 modes so I can give that a spin too.

Wasn't Sony behind this port? I guess this is #4theplayers

Other Ocean developed it, though Sony's third party production unit would have had a say in making it happen (possibly project management too), and it really shouldn't have passed Sony certification either at the end of the day.

It's weird, given the system exclusivity for the series, it's in Sony's interests to ensure this was a top notch port, but it hasn't turned out that way. Big shame.

Quoting so people see.
Just tweeted him. I really hope they patch this game in time. I was gladly surprised when news came out since I wanted to use my PS4 as the definitive fighting games box.

Yall don't need Hexadrive levels of passion to fix a port like this, just someone more competent. My gut says the dudes that have worked with Capcom on PC ports lately (forget their names) would be good.

Don't blame QA. As much as people want to think QA can stop a game from releasing I have seen it not to be true despite the discovery of ship-blocker issues. Even Sony Compliance can fail a submission in which case a little massaging of issues by those in charge will lower issue severity until the game passes. Those in charge of Production has the last say here.

Reach out to the producers at ocean and external producer at sony. They are ultimately responsible and made the decision to release despite these obvious issues.

I hope a message is released soon with an apology and assurance that a patch is in the works. Unfortunately i dont expect patch 1 to fix issues to the FGCs satisfaction. The complaints about input lag is very concerning and may be tough to resolve.

Interesting, thanks for the heads-up.

It's a shame we'll never know what actually happened, I'm sure many different factors across all parties involved caused this result.

Yeah, sounds so icky like hollow PR stuff.

I've been playing all morning with no problems outside the menus.

THOSE OF YOU HAVING PROBLEMS: SAY SOMETHING ON SOCIAL MEDIA!

But then everyone will know

and I don't know if I'm ready to come out like that.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
I love how publishers are still trying to release unfinished products and then pretending they didn't notice any issues during certification. They rake in that sweet day one cash and then suddenly discover the product is riddled with bugs? Bullshit.

Buy the Steam version away.
Terrible netcode aside, dunno if they ever fixed that.
Though I think there's better DS4 drivers out there. Or use the Xinput wrapper which doesn't emulate the touchpad. But oh well.

Once again: This was outsourced to an "internal" Sony team. Capcom didn't do the work. Meanwhile, DMC4: SE is being done in-house by the DMC4 team. Apples and Oranges.

A better comparison would be the PC version of Ultra's port to Steamworks from Games for Windows Live/X-box Live. That was a pretty bad port, same with the other Capcom out-sourced PC ports that removed GfWL.

Thanks for that! If it's on sale in the Steam Summer Sales then i'll try and get it...and since SFV will be cross play in terms of MP...if the netcode isn't massively better on one platform over the other then I'll probably stick to the Steam version.

I am Korean.
This is year two of the PS4?
And, everyone is sure that its a lazy port and not because the PS3 is technically more
powerful or capable, in certain respects than the PS4?

This is a game that runs on a toaster.

OS: Windows XP.
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz or better.
Memory: 1 GB RAM.
Graphics: GeForce 6600 or better (except GeForce 7300)
DirectX Version: 9.0c or greater.
Disk Space: 12 GB free hard drive space.
Sound: DirectSound, DirectX 9.0c Compatible Audio.

There's no reason it should be getting bogged down on a PS4.

So your posts will change everyone's minds that the bugs and other issues they've been experiencing are ok because you marshaled a party of anecdotal ostrich brothers?

By their comparison:
Ultra Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 720p 60 FPS 5.1 frames 85ms
Ultra Street Fighter IV PlayStation 3 720p 60 FPS 6.4 frames 107ms
Ultra Street Fighter IV PlayStation 4 1080p 60 FPS 8.0 frames 133ms

&
Killer Instinct Xbox One 900p 60 FPS 4.9 frames 81ms
Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- PlayStation 4 1080p 60 FPS 5.3 frames 89ms
Mortal Kombat X PlayStation 4 1080p 60 FPS 6.4 frames 107ms

Seems like 5-6 is the baseline for most games for their test.

QA is definitely not to blame as they're usually strapped for time, might not have the knowledge or the resources to do the proper testing. I mean, if they were exceptionally could QA they could figure it out but ultimately, they could still get overridden in decision-making.

All parties are definitely at fault though. Other Ocean for being shit, Sony for giving it to them after their incredibly awful track record, and Capcom for not closely supervising their flagship title (and probably not getting DIMPS to program it better, lol).

I don't fully like their method of comparing between consoles at all as they're using an off the shelf converter that's converting a USB keyboard to the various consoles signals. I know that the same device can have wildly different results between consoles.

That said, Guilty Gear on PS4 shows that it's a bad result in general.

Yeah, I think the only interesting info you can get is a relative comparison between games on the same platform. So by their test, maybe it's about 2-3 frames slower than what is expected?

Yeah, MKX is kicking its ass too which I really wouldn't have expected.

That test was as accurate as timing F1 race results with your handwatch.

Don't be ridiculous. It's accurate enough to show that the PS4 version has more input lag than the PS3 version, not less as advertised, at least when using a PS3 stick.

I'm sure others will be able to offer something more conclusive, though.

Holly shit, this is terrible and i was playing Guile yesterday and told myself something feels off. My combos were not responding as i'm used to and thought it was my fault for not adjusting to the Dual Shock 4.

This makes me mad, especially when Gio himself said the game is the definitive version and that input lag was resolved bla bla bla.

This is straight up lies. No respect for the fans.
