Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards 2015 dated for December 3rd.

I never understand comparing this to the Oscars. Sure, the winners are real head scratchers sometimes, but the Oscars still celebrate the past year of movies; they aren't a four hour trailer reel for next year.

Can't wait, the last one was fuck tons better than all the other previous ones thanks to Geoff Keighley.

You go Geoff, I've got your back, I believe in you. I'm happy that we have an awards show like this and I hope it keeps growing and improving.

December 3rd - 6th is gonna kill me. Game Awards, PlayStation Experience and Capcom Pro Tour finals, back to back, all in the US which means many late nights for me. But why on earth on a Thursday night? Bruh

Award shows for games are still in a place where they're finding out what they should be. They're finding out how to appeal to the viewers while still showing appreciation for what those in the industry have created. You also have Youtube gamers that may pull in viewers, but then you have hardcore gamers that groan whenever they popup. So what do you do there? Some people praise the BAFTA's, but how many actually watch it? The 2015 BAFTA thread had fewer than 800 posts. The 2014 TGA's? 14k+. So while some may praise the BAFTA's more, the TGA's are the one that people actually want to watch. And since Geoff paid for that out of his own pocket, having people watch the show is critical.

They'll eventually find their way. But it's going to take some time to find a real sweet spot. And I don't think that sweet spot will ever be something like the Oscars. That's just not going to be appealing to gamers.

No, instead the Oscars start out with a four hour intro segment where the host just talks about all the celebrities in the crowd.

Had a good time watching and drinking a little last year. I hope Geoff improves the formula and doubles his online viewership. I'd like for there to be some gaming recognition and awards that aren't practically shameful to watch.

No one else remember the 2013 one?

"Hah, here's the game of the year award, it's GTA V, so let's go over the other awards"

That was terrible lol

Cool, can't wait to see what they do this year. Great that Geoff has gone out and done this off his own bat. We should stop bitching and be thankful he has. If you have something constructive to say about it, contact him.

Did I mention Zelda?

I'm a party pooper but please keep your expectations in check (low, pretty damn low) this year with Nintendo at the game awards. This year is more likely they will not talk about anything big or Zelda U again until a special event/Direct in 2016 so it can be re-revealed there and announce an NX version as well (Well, that's what everyone is hoping)... Unless they throw a semi-megaton at the game awards and reveal Twilight Princess HD there! That'll be nice :(

Last year ranged from boring to hilarious. The best moments were the King's Quest segment and the end with Koji Kondo and Imagine Dragons.

Whatever happened to the caveman indie game with the moaning theme song?

That was VGX, a Spike awards show that they worked with Geoff Keighley on. Last year and this year are the Game Awards, an awards show BY Geoff Keighley as a response to his dislike for how the VGAs/VGX was handled.

The fact that Spike stopped doing the VGAs/VGX makes it seem otherwise, but they're two different shows.

Huh, that explains. I thought that they just changed the event's name or idk. I can totally understand why Geoff made this decision lol

"Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime will be on The Game Awards’ advisory board. He’ll be joined by other well-known executives and industry figures such as Xbox boss Phil Spencer, Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Shawn Layden, and Hideo Kojima"

I guess we will see something interesting from them, this year. Hoping its a Zelda trailer without ppl having to do screen inception.

So, Dec 3rd is when they reveal (sort of) Grux for Paragon. I wonder if that'll be at this and they also reveal the full game.

Aside from a few pacing issues, I thought last year's show was pretty good. Granted I am comparing this to the awful Spike shows of the past, but even still it was entertaining in its own right. I hope he puts a little more focus on the actual awards this year and a little less on World Premieres. There are names in this industry that should be household names (for those with at least a passing interest in games). A solid award show that focuses on creators can help do that.

Actually, the Oscars are a huge selling point/advertisement of movies. All these televised awards shows are basically ads for whatever entertainment platform they are "celebrating" these days.

And PlayStation Experience is the same week. HMMMMMMM.....

Come home, Hideo. To your real home.

There is no guarantee of anyone doing anything. Last year all the same people were on the advisory board, and only a couple of people were there to show anything, while there rest were absent.

The show won me over last year with Roberta and Ken Williams being honored.

I do hope that the board of voters at least nominates Undertale.

Hopefully Geoff added the best art direction/graphics category.

Also, if eSports player of the year comes back, TSM | ZeRo better be one of the candidates.

Last year wasnt that bad. I'm not convinced we need one of these, but if anyone can do it and have it not be a trainwreck, it was the people behind last year's.

The show — called, simply, the Game Awards — is now the closest thing the games business has to its own Oscars.

Oh, come on.

BAFTA Video Game Awards is leagues ahead.

I'll be there, the first one waiting for the stream while eating some Doritos and drinking Mountain Dew (imported, they don't sell it here in Spain).

Hail to the great Doritos Pope! <3
