unless its the handheld, then you definitely have a limit on the resolution you can display due to the screen. And Matt's rumor never said WHAT the resolution he saw was, only that its higher that what some thought and lower than what others hoped. Which sounds like is people thought 720P, then 900 is higher, and as, (Judging by the "my phone does 1080P in its sleep" type posts, lower than what some hope for.

How did you miss the framerate part? Like seriously, how do you read?

Damn, you got a point there. Stupid of me to not even consider that.

That the obvious has to even written out.

For everyone irate at 900p have you seen what games on Xbox One and PS4 actually run at? Very rarely does any game right now have a solid 1080p with 60 FPS on consoles. So many games last fall fail this pretty hard.

ARM is CPU related, the main problem would be the GPU. If you mean PS4 graphics at 900p on a handheld, no.

If you mean Wii U graphics... still no. Those chips would be too big and power hungry for a handheld. Maybe in a tablet sized sku, some stuff like the Tegra X1 and equivalent from other manufacturers.

A handheld absolutely can surpass the Wii U's graphical output quite easily. Many low-power CPU+GPU combinations already do a better job than the Wii U.

I'd like for this to be true. Making games shoot for a consistent 900p/60fps would be rad. Frankly any game system that makes 60fps a priority is good in my book.

Me and my friends were in a party talking about it, and they got overexcited and that kinda...lifted over to me, lol. I try to keep my expectations low, but thanks to my friends who are incredibly hyped for it...it's not always easy.

Meh don't care. Nintendo games look amazing . only reason I buy Nintendo hardware anyway is for Nintendo games. Still going to buy 3rd party on other platforms .

Not at 900p, and not with acceptable battery life/heat. In a tablet sized machine it would obviously be different.

Wii U-like graphics at 540p on the other hand are definitely possible, and that's what i hope will happen.

Goddamn dude, how many times... there was no video playback! It was photos!!

And that's not even taking into consideration the PS4 in that video is running in 1080p, so all you're really doing is down rezing a high resolution photo.

Codename DS became The Nintendo DS.

Wii U supports 1080p (smash 4 is 1080p 60fps)

Oh, right. The DS was pretty successful, so maybe they are channeling that? Did people know what the DS stood for before the reveal?

I wasn't saying thats what the Wii U could do, but nintendo never outright said the specs of the system. And it hard to believe they would limit the resolution, unless it allows console games to work on handheld and vice versa. We have to wait until any official word comes out.

"Exclusive game franchises featuring Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong and more"
can't spell Metroid without more. coincidence? doubt it.

People thinking it will only do 900p on the console are the most gullible posters on GAF. And the freak outs, haha, get a grip.

These threads never surprise me though with those responses.

What's with two rumours leaking at the same time?

Also 900p/60fps locked would be amazing and makes a cheaper price point quite realistic, and I imagine the resolution will be bumped up for Zelda and Xenoblade-type games.

Assuming this is real, doesn't the 900p/60 fps bullet point suggest that the NX console with at least around the same power as the Xbox One? I'd say thats good news if true.

A sensor bar? Does this mean Wii controllers and possibly a Wii U gamepad will be supported?
I think the NX will be backward compatible, and may even sell the gamepad separately.

The Wii U sold half what the gcn did, and that means there were a lot of great games that didn't get the chance to sell well. Similar to why Sony is porting so many ps3 games to ps4, there will be a new market of NX owners who never bought a wiiu.

Alternately, they could reprogram some of the games to remove the gamepad modes. Would be easy for games like smash, dkc, etc

All fine, you atleast bothered to read the replies.

The posts in this thread blow my mind. Its a fukcing Twillight Zone episode, where everyone is only capable of reading what they want to read.

This is the same company that sells their current console with an included HDMI cable.

Sony sold (and probably still sells) the PS4 without an included HDMI cable, just for reference.

What the fuck is this shit? Sony has been including HDMI cables since the first PS3 Slim model and the PS4 absultely comes with one and always has. I can speak for America, at least.

They're trying to gauge how much people would pay for certain features and a certain package. It makes sense. This was not meant for public consumption.

"They" being GfK who most likely knows nothing about the NX and nothing about tech but googled some console stuff and found that 900p is something people talk about.

900p is not a thing. It's an arbitrary design choice/compromise developers sometimes make, not a technical spec for a console. Even if it turns out that Nintendos current first gen NX titles all run at 900p it would be a silly thing to put as bullet point for the console.

The 900p is presumably just a number on a survey and maybe others got different numbers in their surveys to help them understand expectations?

But if it is 900p, does that tell us anything about the handheld? Would we be looking at a WiiU resolution screen?

Sensor bar is interesting - Wii pointer again? And they talk about video chat on tv so maybe the sensor bar will have a camera built in

He's probably thinking of the PS3, which came with an AV cable (I don't think it was HDMI like you say?)

"DS" was never a codename.
It stood for "Developer System" and once people thought it meant "Dual Screen", Nintendo just stuck with it because people were right.
DS's codename was Nitro.

My white PS4 didn't have one.
I'm from Germany, maybe it's just a European thing? SCEE can be pretty scummy...

My metal gear one in the UK did bring one.

If someone was faking it they would have put 1080p. Putting it as 900p is so out of left field that it feels realistic.

900p can be fake as well.

It's good to throw a little bit of controversy in your fake news.

I have no idea about the legitimacy of this though.

4k video not really a big deal .
It's the 900p that is the problem unless devs can go 1080p even if it mean 30fps.
Still this is coming out 3 years after PS4 it should match it but this is nintendo we talking about .

Most Nintendo games run at 60FPS so I don't think it's a big deal. Even on the Gamecube a lot of Nintendo games were running at 60 FPS.

Even most PS4 games would run at 60FPS if they drop the resolution to 900p. The reason that they don't is saying a game is 1080P is a bigger deal to the average gamer than saying a game is 60FPS. It's more marketable for whatever reason even if your game runs like a slideshow.

That your video is bullshit because the PS4 is physically running in 1080p.

What Sony says means jack shit when the fact remains that you cannot set the PS4 to output at 4K. I have a 4K set and a 4K monitor. I cannot set the PS4 to run at 4K in it's video settings, and neither can you. I'm done responding to your trolling.

If you read the source you'd know it wont do that. it auto adjusts to 4k content, you can't force it.

Incorrect. The PS3 Slim that I got just a year ago did not come with an HDMI cable, to my annoyance. I don't even believe it came with AV cables.

This has to be one of the most eyebrow raising "leaks" we have had so far.

For starters, no reason for a sensor bar. Even the Wii U regular edition didn't have one because it was already added to the gamepad.

The 900p resolution is also silly, MAYBE it makes sense if its the Handheld output, but for the main console it would be a step back compared to what Wii U can do (Who runs 1080p when needs to).

But at the end of the day it doesn't matter. If they nail a $250 price point with 3 powerful launch titles (3D Mario, Zelda and one niche nintendo franchise) the console is going to sell at least decently.

900p for the handheld would be pretty amazing.

900p for the home console would be pretty meh.

Without context regarding which system they were talking about it really doesn't mean anything.

Edit: Just realized it is talking about the console. If true, that's probably the recommended resolution for cross system compatibility.

My guess is that 900p must have been chosen due to the relationship of the console to the handheld. Lower resolution means less processing power, less battery power. It makes it much easier to hit that 60 fps target, which, if you recall, PS4 struggles with at 1080p and Xb1 usually can't hit even at 900p.

900 p is no big deal really. Still confused by all the Donkey Kong hate. I get that people want a new Metroid from Retro but it's hypocritical to say anyone can make Donkey Kong Country. If they could, Paon or Kozumi would have. Obviously they couldn't. Neither franchise should suffer because of one another.

Do you still have the box? Because I can't find anything that says that Sony ever excluded an HDMI cable from the PS4 box.

My metal gear one in the UK did bring one.
I actually do have the box and should've looked at it before writing stuff I don't know because it actually did come with an HDMI cable.
Strange, maybe I misremembered something.
I'm not trying to shit on Sony btw.
Did PS3s come with an HDMI cable? I don't know. D:

STILL, my point still stands that Nintendo put an HDMI cable in the Wii U box when they easily could've used their leftover Wii RGB or S-Video cables, but they didn't.

Yay, first post:

Do you guys really think all NX games will be 900p/60fps?

With other words the very first plattform in existence where every game has the exact same resolution and framerate?

You have to be joking.

I agree. Metroid Prime 4 being a launch title is very exciting!

Samus only unlockable trough Adam Amiibo.
