I like Battlefield campaigns tbh so I'm super excited
While I don't like the overall stories or often the mission structure, I appreciate that they take their time and make it feel authentic. Should be pretty cool to do that in a WW1 setting.

Hopefully this game sounds more like BC2 than BF3/4. The sound design and mix are great in all of DICE's games, but the guns sound so much better in BC2 imo.

Battlefield formula and BF4 dont go together. The true Battlefield formula can only be found in Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield 2. You can find signs of it in Bad Company 2. The rest is trash, its not Battlefield after 2 really. They tried to hard to go after COD. I hope this changes things. I have been playing the series from the launch of 1942, it's time to bring back the real Battlefield formula.
I've also been playing since 1942, but completely disagree with the bolded. To each his own I guess.

Its weighted gambling. It's been proven that you are more likely to get new weapons when you pay real money than using in game currency.

Nope. You could but battlepacks yes, but they only contained cosmetic items. Everything else could he unlocked through normal gameplay.

You could get attachments and such, too, but nothing that could really sway the tides of battle. I don't see them going the straight BEST VALUE! road for this game. Battlefront is their most recent game, and I don't think you could buy weapons and credits in the store. You had to earn it through gameplay.

I foresee them sticking with the method that has worked out for them in the past. New weapons through DLC, Battlepacks give you some cosmetics and attachments. Premium gets special drops, events and early DLC.

There were experimental helicopters around in WW1, probably had more involvement in the war than America.

There were, but it wasn't until close to the end of the war that real advancements started being made in the industry. They were clunky, and I'm not sure they could handle the weight of more than one person. Heck, the VS-300, which was one of the first helicopters, could only stay up for 1 hour in 1940! These machines are actually pretty recent.

eeeh. I don't like olden times....
But, I still don't know shit about the game (and no one else seems to either). We'll see in 3 hours. Still looking forward to next gen explosions and physics. I'm curious to see if the animation is also noticeable better or not. 4 was really good in that department.
They better use that classic Battlefield theme and none of that dubstep bs.

That sounds way to calm, horns in the first quarter sound timid and the middle part sounds silly and outdated and makes you imagine a marching band can/is playing it.

I don't hear the power. I don't hear the boiling excitement. If it's pure nostalgia for you, then it ain't enough.

I like how they edit and change it up every release.

Some people are saying its set in an alternate history ww1, but that hasn't been confirmed. So wait a few hours and we'll know for sure

It's not WWI that's the problem, it's the question of how the hell are they going to make the Battlefield formula fit in that setting.

My favorite thing to do in BF4 is hop in a chopper and provide air support and drop players off at capture points.

That role can't exist in a WWI game. What aircraft will there be? Biplanes?

Sure, WWI is in interesting setting, it's just not interesting for a Battlefield game in my opinion.

Good thing this is a Video Game and not a documentary. You know? Video games? Where you're allowed to do the impossible?

As Sartre noted in his contemplation on Hell in No Exit, the true horror is other members.
Okay yes, that's fair. Ideally I want something that's totally self aware and pulling from both implementations (on opposite sides of the political spectrum) of the plotline, since that'd fit both directions the series has gone, and would actually be an interesting product to discuss.

Didn't Killzone try something like that, is a sci-fi setting? Oh I would love that kind of similar deeper story in our world and history, but 6 Days in Fallujah and any other hope of that kind of thing will never see light of day.

Fun fact: There actually is no Battlefield or Battlefield 1 in the series. The series started with Battlefield 1942, then Battlefield Vietnam, and then Battlefield 2. Being set in WW1, an era before the very first game in the series, it actually makes complete and logical sense to call this Battlefield 1.

Kinda like how Star Wars started with Episode 4 :p

Yeah but what do they call the next Battlefield? Battlefield 5? They're ruining the numbers!

Trench warfare would be fun. I would like to see how DICE can design their maps based on that. Having an enormous battle in trenches and then your team mates all throw in smokes or poison gas into the trenches sounds awesome.

if it's realistic, can't wait to instantly die or freeze to death.

I'm loving the name. It makes perfect sense. Its set in world war 1 and there never was a first battlefield, just 2, 3, and 4.

It would work well because you can die repeatedly in multiplayer games, which was pretty much what trench warfare was all about.

That looks very wrong for WWI what is on his right hip. I would be more excited if it is a steampunk setting as others have said like bioshock which I have to say is something I never anticipated but looking at the image could be intriguing.

WW1 would be a crap setting. Does anybody really want a a game with just bolt action rifles and stationary maxim guns? That sounds horrible unless all you take in these games is a sniper. WW1 combat went the way it did for a reason ; the weapons were garbage so everybody trenched taking potshots till somebody( who I guarantee was nowhere near the frontline) decided it was time for the boys to go over the top and get killed. There was poor ability to bring in game changers such as tanks or airforce support to push the enemy hence people stayed in trenches or got slaughtered.

Have you seen how popular metro is? People love trench warfare.
