Marvel's new (added) mandate is 'Make epic games,' Spider-Man is just the beginning

Cool, I guess? Not sure what to think of this.

3rd person espionage Winter Soldier title by Kojima Productions

Thor by Sony Santa Monica

Black Panther by Rocksteady

Squad based action Guardians of the Galaxy game by whoever.

Make it happen Sony!
You know Rocksteady is owned by Warner Bros, right? The chance of them making a Marvel game is very, very small.

How would people really feel about Suckerpunch doing a exclusive Ironman? It may cause people without PS4 to start worrying that Sony is hogging the Marvel Game Universe and they may be missing out, if the MGU would ever become a thing that is. I have to admit though, Suckerpunch could do a good Ironman I bet, but I'd rather they stick to making what they want to make. They already have their own super powers IP.

Disgusting. Infamous 2 was cool but I don't rank SP's other games that high so I would be disappointed.

I'll believe it when I see it. There are only a handful of good Marvel games and a ton of crap.

Also, lol @ thinking MVC4 is going to be a thing when Capcom are budget-conscious. The Marvel license is an expensive one, not to mention, a pain in the ass with how you're supposed to represent characters exactly as Marvel wants, rather than being given the freedom to choose.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Naughty Dog could do with one of their characters. But at the end of the day you would want them to make new IP's.

Sony will fund it, PS4 exclusive.

MVC4 please, it would be epic, just like throw money at capcom to make the roster huuuuge.

She hulk promised deadpool and all of us she'd kick his ass there! please!

She can't, Deadpool is banned from appearing in new games. That being said, I could see She-Hulk's generic text quote being "I owed a certain someone a rematch, but he didn't get the invitation". Basically an underhanded reference to Deadpool in all but name that won't piss off Marvel, but the rest of us will know exactly who Capcom's referring to.

I loved the OG Spiderman 2 game. Would be awesome to see some well thought out and unique games like but far more up to date and on a large scale, that are set in the marvel universe. Particularly Xmen!

Sony's publishing the game. It's exclusive.

Which hasn't been true for a while now since Sony are happy to both publish and brand on Steam:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/394510/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/417880/

Of course, this won't be true for the vast majority, but there is always the possibility as it already is confirmed Kojima's project will be on PC after an exclusivity period.

As far as Sony is concerned I think it's a really smart thing to do once the period of heavy sales is over and it is no longer a title that is driving system sales. More money for all involved and more players get to enjoy.

I call bullshit.
Great contribution to the thread there.

Norman Reedus confirmed as Winter Soldier.
I'd buy that!

Ah yeah, my bad. Couldn't think of anyone else on the spot of their calibre that would fit Black Panther.

seems to be a strategy they've been building towards for quite sometime

ie getting a functioning avengers battle game going only to scrap it means theyre not in it for the quick grab

I really hope that Sony doesn't have exclusivity over Marvel games, for the sake of MvC4. Then again, Sony did help speed up Street Fighter V's development.

That Spider-Man trailer looks so fuckin sweet. Don't screw it up Insomniac. Oh mannnn.

I have to get a PS4 for this and Zero Dawn. Where am I gonna get the money, jeezus

Actually I would love an X-Men game based on Apocalypse with playable Scott, Jean, Storm, Nightcrawler and Angel in third person, omg I'm creaming myself.

This is the best news. Never would I have dreamed that my favorite news out of E3 would be all related to Marvel. I'm absolutely delighted by the news of the new direction.

CAPTAIN AMERICA GAME PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

Why not Disney Vs Capcom?

Just go all out.
Mickey vs Ryu
Woody vs Mega Man
Spiderman vs Leon
Mulan vs Iron man
Luke Skywalker vs Akuma

No way. This is probably just because Sony has the Spiderman movie rights and Marvel (Disney) is trying to get a nice working relationship going.

That's more of an exception than the rule.

So Nick Fury appears after the credits of Spider-Man then

And thus the Marvel Gaming Universe is born.
Would prefer Strange recruiting heroes so it's not a complete copy and paste of MCU. #SecretDefenders

Bring on the most ambitious X-Men Online ARPG Trilogy!

Mutants don't belong in the Marvel Universe anymore. You're gonna have to accept Inhumans and Extremis being the reps for an evolving humanity.

Personally I think that's a better option (and more likely) than begging for Marvel vs Capcom 4.
Granted, either one would still be made by Capcom (hence the Marvel Super Heroes 2 naming), but it being an MvC game would guarantee a long competitive life.

Deadpool is banned from appearing in new games.

I've been a X-Men comic book reading ~persecution complex~ sufferer for a long time (this is an injoke among the fandom about how Marvel treats fans concerned with about the way mutants have been treated publishing-side,) I just wanted to ask respectfully, you keep mentioning a hard ban on characters- do we know if that's actually a real thing across all the board? From reading your post it sounds like the CoC devs were told that the X-Men weren't on the table, but do we know that to be true across the board for all purposes?

Actually Contest of Champions was the last game allowed to add whoever they want, with its contract still being active. Every single game made after Contest of Champions is subject to the ban (& I mean all of them). The comics seem to be fine for the most part, but there's a genuine problem with the video game side of things. To not recognize that is pretty much ignorance at this point. Also, of course Marvel isn't gonna confirm the ban, it's bad PR for themselves. Like it or not, the ban is real. You can either help raise awareness so the ban can eventually be lifted or deal with it.
