What does Mighty No. 9 bode for ReCore?

Don't really know why everyone here is so down on ReCore. Looks pretty cool to me and impressions from people who have actually played it have been pretty positive so far. I think how this game ends up will be mostly on Armature as they are doing the gameplay systems I think and this seems to be a more "gamey" game for lack of a better word.

It's a Microsoft game and this is Neogaf...

The impressions for MN9 are a shame (thank god I retracted my KS pledge) but I'm not writing off ReCore as of yet. The trailer was not exactly what I expected; I thought it wold be more of a Metroidvania type thing with the orb being the catalyst to where you could go in the world.

Maybe it will be like that but it's hard to say until we see more game footage. In any case Inafune was tied to Soul Sacrifice and that game was really really good so it's not like his name immediately means a game is shit.

It will probably end up as a mid to low 70s game, even if you take Inafune out of the equation there's still Armature not-so-stellar record.

Oh get outta here with that. Why start your time here with generalizations and such?

Quite possibly, but what was shown looked pretty interesting surprisingly enough. A little rougher around the edges than I expected, but we'll see at launch I guess.

Not too much I'm hoping. Hopefully Armature and Microsofts involvement will make sure the experience is solid.

I think Inafune's actual involvement in both games has been minimal at best. They kept posting videos of him playing Mighty No. 9, and every time it looked like he was totally unfamiliar with the game, which leads me to think he was more of an ideas person then he'd disappear for weeks or months and show up occasionally to play a new build. I expect his involvement in Recore has been even less than that.

I get the feeling ReCore is more of an Armature joint. Arkham Origins Blackgate makes me more wary of ReCore's quality tbh.

The game looks dull and boring to me as of now. The gameplay trailer sparked 0 interest from me. It has never made a good impression on me from day one. I hope it is a good game, but I feel like it will be otherwise. I also get the impression that your hand is going to be held the entire game. That's just my opinion though.

ReCore didn't wow me to be honest. Now it didn't look bad but it definitely didn't scream 9/10, must own game either. It feels more like one of those 7/10 games that's enjoyable but isn't going to be a game changer.

Have you looked at Recore? The game is already behind schedule, it was supposed to come out in spring of this year, and it looks and runs like shit. Sure is another fucking comcept gem. Seriously, it looks like Yaiba.

I really don't like when people say early impressions of the game were good and use that as a metric for if a game will be good once it is released. Early impressions are almost always good for every game. Early impressions for MN9 were good. Look now. Early impressions should be taken with a grain of salt. Early impressions for Alien Colonial Marines were good. Need I say more?

I don't know that Inafune had much to do with MN09. Looking at the dev diaries he seeme dto be newly discovering the game whenever the actual developers showed it to him. That's just my own impression obviously

I don't think anyone behind MN09 gave a shit about it.

In any case, Soul Sacrifice was pretty good. If that can be good with his name on it, so can something else. Recore looks cool to me so far.

is there a fully 3d, action platformer megaman game?

because now that i'm looking at the gameplay vid, switch out the main character for megaman and it wouldnt be weird at all

Stephen Totilo dropped his preview from what he played of the game. Very positive
ReCore (Xbox One/PC, September 13) - I was sold on ReCore last year, when I learned that it was being designed by the lead creators of my favorite gaming series, Metroid Prime. This third-person action game is by no means a clone of the classic first-person adventure series, but there are similar qualities.

The art direction is strong, particularly the look of the game’s heroine, Joule, and her robot companions.

The game design seems to cater to players who want a game world that feels like a big puzzle, even during combat. Joule shoots a laser that can fire one of four colors, each performing best against enemies of the same color. She has robot companions, each of whom have their own special attacks and color-coded traits. The robots are also used to solve environmental puzzles. In the game’s E3 demo, for example, the spider bot can be used to ride up tracks on walls, a bit like Metroid Prime’s spider ball.

As for something not at all like Prime, Joule can do a sort of fishing game to finish off weakened enemies instead of shooting them.
