Wouldn't these type of converters add audio delay?

I see Sony is sticking to the "it gets worse" remodel design approach they did with the PS3.

Who's starting the petition.org for a PS4 as ugly as this fucker:
PS3-Super-Slim-top-loading-drive.jpg

I actually have this ps3, my old one broke and this was the only option. It's deffo the ugliest Sony has made but it doesn't bother me at all. It's small, compact and runs quietly. Just sits under my TV and the small size makes it easier to move around. I got it for a cool £120, no regrets.

No way it's gonna be $249, not at release anyway.
Can they price it at $299 while NOT having a 4K BD (which I am sure Xbox will go ham with holiday ads)?
Well I mean sure they can, they still have a massive lead, but will they want to?

those dualshock button symbols on the top are gross if they are pertruding

edit: just realized they're on the bottom, in which case, ok watever

Well this topic showed me that most people in here don't know anything because before today the slim was waived off as nothing by most people talking Sony hardware. The people that do know aren't talking! I'm gonna say those Neo specs we have are not final either.

The look itself is allright, but the disc spinning is driving me crazy.

ps3 slim was nice, but i would have loved a ps3 with the form factor/design of the wii.. obviously a little bigger with enough room to accommodate a laptop hard drive obviously

Not a fan of the design. It looks kind of boring. Although I'd suspect it's going to be a lot quieter than the current version. Where are the LED's? The PS4 uses them to indicate its status

No optical is pretty terrible. I use the optical out into my DAC to power my headphones.

If this somehow ends up still being fake I think that makes every hardware leak ever in the future instantly unbelievable without full video, lol.

In short, if you faked it great but you've ruined it for every other fake leaker! xD

Yes. The lack of 4K BD player is non issue because PS4 is still the more powerful console.

Smartphones used to get etched with symbols and now they just put it in the operating system. Could be the same thing here.
Yeah possibly...
Optical is old and depreciated.

HDMI provides lossless formats like DTS-HD MA, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X and Dolby Atmos.

It's not up to Sony to keep providing ports for legacy formats. Should the PS4 have AV and Scart ports for people with older hardware?
HDMI is better, yes... that is when it started supporting Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA.

Optical is still regularly used by audio engineering professionals though... it's not a dated format at all with continued development with the use of fiberoptics such as MADI. Besides in consumer electronics you'll often find that sound bars use optical from TV as an input source or CD separates that take an optical out. Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 is what is currently progressing forward in the studio though, firewire and PCIE seems to be on a back burner.

GAF I think I may be starting to see things in the slim pictures.

I cropped the side view image that seems to show the square, triangle, circle and X symbols but my eyes see a optical port in the square and possibly another port in the circle!

Officially gone nuts...two and half more weeks to go.

Nah circle is just where they broke is from the 3D printer :p

The OG PS4 had a much better design it looked stylish and sleek, this new device looks fucking ugly. Especially when I compare it to the amazing Xbox One S design.

Man I hope it's quiet at least.

The hole in the circle is most likely a screw hole for a vertical stand. The slim PS2 and super-slim PS3 both had screw-in stands.

I timidly raise my hand to say on this matter that I've always believed that a PS4 Slim was happening if they were serious about keeping both the original and Neo on the market.
It was obvious, Sony has to cut manufacturing costs on current hardware if they want to cut prices and if MS shrinked their APU to 16nm, Sony wasn't clearly sitting back. They're tied to what AMD can do. PS4 Slim was just the logic consequence.
And I was right :p

But honestly there are many people in these threads who discard evidence and common sense to believe in what they want....so yeah I see your point.
