Rumour: PS4 Slim leaked ?

When it's the choice between two identical products, yes they do. These are discerning features. If you're in a store looking at two game consoles that cost the same and you ask the clerk what's the difference: "Well, this one is 4K/HDR compatible." The 4K boom is happening, not having 4K is a fucking mistake. Period.

Also: Multiplats with HDR support will look better on One S than a PS4 Slim.

News broke last night, could have got a train from Brighton in the morning.

I find the idea of a grown man probably jumping on a train with a lunchbox to snap some pictures of a console that might be fake quite entertaining (not saying it's stupid, DF actually doing this kind of fieldwork is pretty cool, hehe).

You are giving the general public which still overwhelmingly buys regular DVD's if they're among the few who buy physical copies of movies at all waaaay too much credit. By an overwhelming margin, people with 4K TV's are consuming 4K content via their TV's built-in smart apps like Netflix (don't need a separate box for that) and are generally not buying UHD Blu-rays when they're $25 and the regular Blu-ray is like $5-10 in the vast majority of cases.

Dude, the devices aren't identical in any way. What are you even talking about at this point.

Ummm, they're both game consoles/media devices with extremely similar software content libraries (barring exclusives).

I love the people who believe that the hardware/software performance differences is an easier sell in Walmart than "This one does 4K/HDR (terms people are being made familiar with daily) and that one doesn't."

BUT I'M IN THE BUBBLE, lol.

EDIT: Do we know if 3rd party titles will support HDR this Fall? I imagine if it's apart of the Neo requirements than they will (in some capacity).

It really is a funny image, I would like to know how it went down.

So would ps4 S be 4K Blu-ray player? That's the question

I can't see that they would, would they? Main selling point of NEO would be "plays 4k" media." Since they cannot really be so dumb as to advertise how GAMES run better on NEO than OG ps4 or slim, they really have no other selling point. Just my thought.

I doubt the Xbox One will suddenly start to sell just because it supports 4k now and got a new case.

'This one is more powerful than this one.' - *points at PS4 Slim*

The above is more likely to actually happen, because it's still just as true as it is with the current PS4/XB1 models. Acting like 4KBR/HDR is this trump card that's swaying people is just hilarious to me.

but don't forget multiplats will look better on the One S somehow!!

The Xbox One S is an easier sell if than these two units if PS4 Slim does indeed launch without UHD/HDR support, which would be incredibly nonsensical and pretty OLD Sony. If you've managed to sit out this generation and those two are sitting on shelves right next to each other, at the same price, you go for the Xbox One S—it's better looking with a wider feature set.
Yeah buy the less powerful system for playing games but with a richer multimedia suite, always a winner. If only MS tried this tack with the original Xboxone reveal we'd have a historical precedent we could apply.

I'm having "power of the cloud!" flashbacks.

But seriously, people saying Xbone S will win cause of UHD is like when people said PS3 would dominate cause of Blu-Ray. "Its the future!"

Remind me how that turned out?

A midnight phonecall. "Richard, get on the first train to Manchester! No time for questions, we will tell you the details later!"

"I arrived; where do I go?"

"Ok, get a cab to this address. The neighbourhood is a bit dodgey, but you'll be fine. Ask the cabbie to wait outside; and let him call 112 if you haven't returned in 15 minutes"

"..."

And at the end of the day it will turn out, that this is the PS4 Neo. Not the PS4 Slim ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ

Can't believe people are buying 4k TV's this early, just wait a few more years like 2018 then it will reach how 1080p TVs are now in standard non-premium price and the tv tech all settled with low input lag, it's still too early for 4k tv
I bought a 4K Samsung on sale during Prime day because my old tv was dieing on me. I wasn't sure there would be much 4K content out there but you would be surprised. Between Netflix, Amazon Video, and YouTube, there's a lot of stuff out there to watch. And it all looks amazing even though it's being streamed. I just recently watched Mad Max in 4K pff a UHD and it looked amazing. And the deals out there for these tvs are great right now. I honestly think this holiday will be a boom for 4K and for consumers I think Joe's the time to get on board.

lol.

- 'Hi, wich console is better?'
- 'PS4 is more powerful but XBOs is 4k/HDR compatible'
- 'I don't understand, what is HDR?'
- 'ffs leave me alone I was about to take my lunch break'
- 'Oh... sorry, I'll just take the PS4'
- 'Sure whatever, all XBO games are on PC anyway"
- 'What's a PC?'
- 'GTFO'

Not to mention that's pretty much the kind of answer the Wal*Mart clientele is expecting, saying "this one does 4K and HDR" pretty much guarantees you will have to explain what both of those things are.

Are there even people who go to a store, Wal*Mart or otherwise, to buy a console, WITHOUT knowing exactly which console they're buying? Even a kid's parent is going to get specific instructions like "I want a PS4" and not "I want one of the current gen consoles".

It would really make more sense for the ps logo to have been rotated.
Also, I don't see how this could be put vertical, but if it was the logo being sideways would look even weirder.

I'd be down for a PS4 slim is the price is right.

But my lord, merely being in the presence of a PS4 turns the damn thing on. Mechanical buttons please.

This thread has been epic. From the first pages of "fake!" "ugly!" To the .. ."Looks great!" "I like it!"

Ha ha ha.. Great stuff!

Make this slim 199 Sony. I'd love one!

I agree with this poster. Every time I go into Huppins, or on to Amazon the prices keep dropping. Jan next year will be the perfect point of entry. I bet you will be able to get a 65 inch Sammy HDR with Quantum dot technology for about a grand after the holidays.

The content is there. A ton? No. But Netflix, YT, Amazon Video have quite a bit already. With 4k capabilities coming to the console world, it's just going to make content providers more incentivised to push it out there. I, for one, welcome our 4k overlords.

I don't this '4K revolution is happening' stuff. Most TV channels still aren't 1080p.
. The bold is important. More and more people consume content from additional sources. TV is becoming a dinosaur. Plus, I've heard rumblings (disclaimer: anecdotal) about the NFL getting some 4K stuff and if that happens many, many people (Americans) would be on board. Sports is huge here.

I wonder if the Slim got made so ugly on purpose so people buy the Neo

not serious, obviously

While you're not serious, you're probably on to something. The Neo would have seen the chunk of the investment into a premium industrial design, and it's the "high-end" PS4 so it *has* to stand out from the cheaper model.

Think of it like how Nintendo kept 2DS around in America, alongside the N3DS XL.

The 2DS is the entry level device, but it's purposefully austere though unique in its own way (wedge design). But it's obvious where the bulk of Nintendo's industrial design efforts went to:

Here's some pics. Amazing device.
