I can't see why anyone would want this... A $299 S can play all the games ($200 OG if you are really on a budget). At $600, it makes more sense to build a gaming PC for the same price thats 2x faster
- i3 6100 ($100)
- 8gb ddr4 ($40)
- Motherboard ($60)
- 256gb SSD or 1tb HDD ($100)
- GTX 960/1050 or R470 ($150)
- case/PSU ($100)
- windows license ($50)
I can't see it being that cheap. I hope your right but He's already calling it a "premium product". So I think we're looking at $499 minimum. Guess will have to wait and see.Do we have to do this again? It'll be 399. You can't sell a console successfully above that price.
Microsoft have learnt from history.
All those people who thought the PS4 Pro would be above 399? They were wrong. Prepare to be wrong again if you think different.
Lol. Go ahead, find valid links for all of those, and who the hell wants a gaming PC with a gaming monitor?
Whacky dreamer.
I realistically see this thing costing 500-600 bucks pretty easily.
Here's a prebuilt PC with better specs than that for $720

More than $600, but shows that a $600 Scorpio would be way overpriced a year from now. $499 is the absolute limit for a machine that won't have any exclusive (non-VR) games for several years. And even that is pushing it, since it will still be a weak 4K machine (compared to what 4K ACTUALLY requires).

Who cares? This is a Scorpio thread. I don't get why some of you PC guys feel the need always come around pushing your platform of choice when no one asked to begin with. Doesn't matter what the cost is, some people would rather use consoles.

I believe 6TFs in 2017 is less cutting edge than 1.84TFs in 2013.In 2017 (or for 2017) would Scorpio at 6TF be any more cutting edge than PS4 was in 2013 at 1.8TF ?
PS4 certainly wasn't cutting edge, it was extremely conservative in most respects, except for RAM.
The GPU is inferior, lacks UHD drive and others things...Here's a prebuilt PC with better specs than that for $720

If MS knew it could be $399 they should definitely announce that right now. Would put at least some sort of dent in PS4P sales.
The PC part lists need to include UHD drives and gamepads.....as those are included in the console price.

A windows license is closer to 90 bucks right now, and the Scorpio is rumoured to push 6 TFLOPS, so you'd need a 1070 to match, not a 1050. So not a fair comparison.
I'm sticking with my PC though.

UHD </= $15, where did you learn how much the rest of the components cost?Guys, this is not going to be $399.
PS4 Pro managed to get there because it has inferior hardware, slighlty overclocked cpu, same ram and cut out 4K Bluray altogether.
This will have a massive bump in CPU and GPU, new Ram AND 4k Bluray.
It doesnt matter if its a year away, its not launching @ $399 lol
I don't think the Pro will drop $100 within a year. Even with that said, they'd be stupid to price it anything higher than $399 and they know this all too well themselves.I really think it'll be $399. When it releases, Sony will be selling the pro for $349 with game or $299 alone (IMO). No way they price themselves $200 higher.

Normally I wouldn't think it'd drop $100 but the generation will be 4 years old by then. I doubt Sony will still be selling a console in the mid-to-high $300s
Does the Scorpio come with a Keyboard and Mouse?
Well the gamepad costs them like $2 to build so that's not a big deal. Profit margins on accessories are built in to be astronomical is all.
$499 with UHD drive and the most powerful console when it launches. Why not?!
Only thing that worries me is that if there are no exclusive games per say on the console (other than maybe VR ones) its going to be hard to justify paying a premium price just for 4k, better performance and graphics of what essentially will be better current xbox games.
Because :
1- It is not a true next generation console, as it will ever be dragged down by the Xbox One legacey. You do not charge customers as much for games that will be released accross multiples systems with only minor perceptible differences.
Sony wouldn't even include a UHD drive because it would increase the BOM by $15. And they increased PS+ by $10/year.
Sony isn't in grind-it-out, by-any-means-necessary mode this gen. They're in profit-taking mode.
Might you be able to find a $349 Pro next Black Friday? Maybe, but I think it's more likely you'll see them do heavy pack-ins like UC4+TLOU or Horizon Zero Dawn and maintain the $399 price.
Playstation is basically the only thing making money for Sony right now. (Maybe their mobile camera components too, but far less so.) Assuming they sell two million Pros post-E3 next year, they're not trying to give away $100m in revenue. For what? They're winning, and they're going to grab the cost-conscious market on the low-end with the Slim.
PS4 waited two years for a price drop. I don't see any reason the Pro and Slim won't follow the same path.
Did you not bother to read the actual chain of comments you're complaining about? JeWho cares? This is a Scorpio thread. It's a premmium product, it says right there in the article, why the Hell are people debating if it's going to be $400? It's going to be $500, the Xbone launched at that price. And no, even if it's a year later than the PS4 Pro, it will have a a 4K BD player which also raises the price.
