I mostly subscribe to Max's channel for Max Reacts and Akuma casuals because hype is good

Then MvCI comes out I expect I'll pop the casuals playlist on while I fumble about learning how to play the goddamn game

Edit: Top of the page, oh. Hi!

Cloud and Bayo in Smash, Akuma in SF5, Rock in KoF14, and now Strider in MvC:I. Might as well say who you wanna see be playable in KI cause I'm pretty sure it'll happen at this rate.

Baiken too. If Spawn shows up in Injustice 2, I'm assuming I have a guardian angel of some kind looking after my every wish.

Im not the kind of person one would call a negative nancy but the trailer looked absolutely awful compared to 3 like they had an even tighter budget and the hud looks like the most mobile game i've ever seen. I mean i can see people being excited just because it's marvel but this failed to excite me really.
I feel the same way, no hype from that trailer to be honest. I really like MvC games and I'll support it but this wasn't what I was expecting/hoping to be (from the visuals perspective)
I want to see gameplay now.

You would be too if your favorite fighting game character was announced for the main roster.

Must be a blast hanging out with folks like you.

How dare you be excited about a new game in a series you enjoy having a character that you love? Why can't you just be cynical and jaded like the rest of us?

How can it be 2017, you being on a gaming forum and having relatively more understanding of game development than your average consumer, not realize that DLC is planned in advance no matter what as games are treated as a service and have been for basically a decade, and be upset that developers have announced post-launch content and support?

Y'all really think developers wait for first week sales then suddenly make multimillion dollar decisions for whether and what they should do in terms of DLC?

With this naivete sometimes I feel like some gamers are permanently stuck in 2005, jesus christ. Also, boo hoo if it hurt feelings by announcing it sooner rather than later. At worst it gives me better context for my purchasing decisions (e.g. Sigma being one of the DLC characters).

Was anyone mad that there was DLC? I expected it as much. Just seems odd to have the other main antagonist as DLC when normal Ultron is apparently in the base game.

Maybe I'm spoiled by the look/artstyle in MvC 3, but I really actively dislike how characters look in this. And given how poorly Capcom has handled SFV and it's updates (IMO) the idea of getting a season pass for anything from them is laughed out the door from me.

Still need to see real gameplay, button layouts etc, but visually it's really unappealing to me.

After SFV you'd have to be almost blindly optimistic

I like to think that capcom is learning, but really why the hell would they release it this year???? When there is so much competition from Tekken 7 and Injustice 2. Also avengers New movie is next year why not wait to cash on that, it's like a free publicity.

Some of you guys are gonna die when you hear about the control scheme/gameplay mechanics.

But can we talk about the netcode? Anyone? Bueller?

Outside of the stuff revealed in the trailer making me flip shit, rewatching it a few times leaves a lot to be desired. Mocap animation everywhere, audio mix was wack and none of the fighting really had any impact. MVC3 cinematic trailers still the best stuff when it comes to actual cinematic MVC fights.

IMO it makes sense at this point to be excited about an MVC game. The last two games in the series were very well received. For me personally, UMVC3 is my favorite game of all time. My enthusiasm for MVCI is dampened by the lack of 3v3 with assists, but it's still a new MVC game and that's worth getting excited about. I mean, it's not like this is a Sonic game.

Sales disagree.

Sales wise sure, but the enthusiast crowd that actually posts on here has very little interest in it.

They might sell more but I'd guess it's a lot of casual consumers that don't really give a shit about DLC practices and just want a simple game to mash it out with their friends, capcom's recent fighting games don't really appeal to that market as much as NRS games do, from what I can tell.

Bringing sales into it is kind of a moot point anyway, I was responding to a post about the reactions to the games on this forum, no shit MK and Injustice sell more than capcoms games, but nobody seems to actually care on this forum.

I know I stopped giving a shit about NRS after MKX.

i think to an audience like gaf, and probably the fgc at large, we will never accept these bullshit practices and always long for the "good old days" when we would just pay for the game up front/put in a quarter and get the entire game. so you're going to see these negative reactions to dlc for a long time. until the minecraft generation grows up, replaces us and don't remember a time where it was any different.

but of course it makes business sense when you think about it for more than 5 seconds. games as a platform is here to stay, too much money to be made.
They are not bullshit practices though. Having DLC characters is a good thing.

yeah and the MVC almost every single iteration has been developed by Capcom, so I don't get it

no, man, understand.

When one says Marvel in the context of fighting games they mean either the series itself (COTA, MSH, XMvSF, MvsSF, MVC, MVC2, TVC, MVC3 and so on) or the gameplay of the series.

When people say "in marvel town reusing is a thing" they don't mean Marvel comics chooses to re use, they mean the series has a long history of asset reusing, which has been true for the entire CPS2 era and most notably in Marvel vs Capcom 2.

So it's not "Marvel comics is to blame" but "this series has a long history of asset re using".

Yeah no offonse to Enzo but Sigma being dlc in particular is strange to me. Goro and Darkseid were dlc too but they weren't already involved in the game.

Honestly, I won't be surprised. Marvel is now the epitome of mainstream. Expecting them to lend their properties to a fighting game series known for its complexity without requesting changes to appeal to casuals is naive.

Of course, if they wanted casuals it would look like Injustice 2.
