Spider-Man E3 2017 Gameplay - PS4 - 2018

It will be interesting to see if we are only seeing only the surface level of Spidey's web slinging. I remember there were some aspects of Sunset Overdrive's traversal mechanics that I didn't even know about until I unlocked them in the game that made that game soooooo much more fun.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
I need more gifs of the combat, that looked absolutely amazing.

Also, I really hope there's a gameplay mechanic where you can play as Peter Parker for side-missions in this game. I want to run around the office of the Daily Bugle and turn in my photographs to JJ! I want to take Mary Jane on a date, only to ditch her at the restaurant when I have to rush off as Spiderman to deal with Mysterio! I want to boastfully play the piano with expert precision in jazz clubs and dance like a lunatic in the middle of the dance floor! I want it all!

I felt Enter Electro was pretty lame in comparison to the first game. Could never put my finger on why, just felt off to my childish self.

The first game had MONSTER OCK, motherfucker!

the ending was amazing

Venom: "Hey Spidey, could you get us Captain America's autograph?"

The only issue I had with what was shown is the suit looks gross. Hopefully that have different suit unlocks or something in the game.

No Peter parker in this game unless they doing multiple Spidey. Miles Morales looks to be main Spidey.

Edit: as I been told, probably missed that Peter is Spidey and Morales was the teaser. Awesome to have both then

All I really remember about it was having trouble with the Lizard boss fight, to such an extent I had to email a friend about how I was supposed to defeat him (never wrapped my head around the best way to use the internet back then). Dude was frustrating.

Lizaaaaaaaard!
Oh man... this brings back some funny memories. I got stuck on the first room of the Lizard level because I didn't know how to leave (just had to hit a switch). I didn't have a memory card, and was young, so I left the PS1 switched on overnight so I could figure it out the next morning. I wake up and see my that the game had somehow progressed, which I later found out was thanks to my sister deciding to play the game while I was asleep. I then finished the game shortly after with no difficulty.

I could breeze through the game but a switch stumped me.

haha, this got a good chuckle out of me

I'm fine with the QTE's because I know if we didn't have them we wouldn't be able to do cool things like that, and would probably just get a lame segment in place of them. The game looks like a spectacle, so I'm gonna play it like one.

I do hope we get more of the chase-esque segments than the QTEs though, but with Spiderman I 100 percent get why we have them

Miles shows up at the end clearly looking at what the main Spidey just did

Like, seriously, how the hell else would you accomplish scenes like this without QTEs? Platinum does QTE scenes like this all the time and people gobble it right up.

That isn't a QTE, he is web zipping to the sign right as it explodes which triggers that special animation / camera. The player doesn't have to hit that at all

For instance if the water tower doesn't explode he would've zipped to the top of it, but since it did it changed the animation so he lands and vaults off

Not really sure how you make that mistake he refers to himself as Pete several times.

Miles role in the game is just unknown.

Edit:
On topic, I'm really excited for this game. Looked like a lot of fun; I'm hoping we learn more details soon.

Damn those visuals are fucking insane, anyone else feels like this is the next benchmark for open world visuals?

Can't believe Insomniac has surpassed GG.

Have to admit that I was disappointed by the actual gameplay, I'm not sure about the game having so many QTEs every minute.

Most people going to be swinging about the city or doing random stuff for most of the time .
So they will hardly seem like they have QTE unless it's a set piece .

I don't mind the QTEs, as long as failing them is handled properly. If you have to repeat the sequence over again then that's really going to break the flow.

My interest in this game slowly dwindled over the course of the demo the more button prompts and indicators came up. I would think one of the advantages of having a Spider-Man game is the potential in the degree of control and freedom of movement you would have.

The combat also seems to be very much in the Batman Arkham Asylum style unfortunately.

wut

Those are usually the most hated aspect in their games. Mercifully, Nier Automata doesn't have this crap.

....I'm not a game dev or a creative person in general. I'm just a consumer and I can tell you that pressing QTEs is just not fun for me and many others. Like I said, replacing the button prompts with other cues would help. Button prompts just look cheap and lazy as hell.

There will be a time when the QTE problem is replaced with something better. It just sucks that this game might not be doing that because Spider-Man has tons of potential as a video game.

Never said they were fun.

I'm just not sure how you implement that crane or helicopter sequence without a scripted moment.

Not saying it's impossible, but scripted set pieces seem like the safest way to do that.

I'm hoping for freedom and unscripted Spidey moments as well. But GAFs usual overreaction to QTEs is baffling, they are in so many games now but people like to forget.

I hope you have a lot of stuff like that in the game.
Make the city feel more alive .

The animation is so good seem you guys put a lot of work into it .

Loved it, though I have zero issues with QTEs and thought everything else looked great, really loved all the movement animations.

Its gonna be like God of War 2 where you start off with all your powers, but then Peter dies and Miles takes over and has to re-learn the abilities in the game.

It could be done without a QTE. It's basically just passing through a hole, which shouldn't necessarily require doing it for the player. The only thing the game needs to intervene with is the animation Spider-Man performs, which could easily be done (games trigger animations at precise moments all the time!) If you screwed it up and didn't quite perform it right, swinging too high or low, or to either side and smacking into the crumbling sign, then you could still recover and continue the pursuit. The upshot is that you left the player in complete control the whole time.

That's not even a QTE, it's pretty obvious to me that he web zipped there and it triggered that animation, just like you're saying, you most likely won't have to go through that sign in the full game. Not every button press is a QTE guys.

Very, very impressive stuff.
