This GAFfer has been visiting the Gamescom building the last couple of days, and this is what he reported in one of his posts:

Hanging stuff from the ceiling will be done first because you can hardly reach the suspension points later on. Playstation, EA and Acitivision are most advanced but also seem to have the most ambitious constructions.

And i do not know where to put it because not related to playstation but there is for sure something going on with EA/MS and FIFA. They are not only located directly beside of each other but EA(!) has a huge XBONE banner on their booth and are showing FIFA banner only with XBONE on it. And the text on them is hidden with black fabric.

It makes zero sense to me. If EA doesn't hold back the release of FIFA on PS4 till the XB1 is released, then you can still buy FIFA earlier and cheaper with the PS4 than the XB1.

Why not bundle an actual exclusive instead of a game that'll be released in September and potentially October for PS4?

I would also think that the majority of FIFA sales will still be on current gen platforms anyway.

Well, obviously I didn't say "megaton", I just said it was a massive win. It just sounds better to say "get this game you wanted to buy FOR FREE". I don't think this is the sort of thing that would make a lot of people change their preorders or anything, but if Xbox fans were a bit hesitant about the One at launch and thought they would just get FIFA on 360 again this could help push them over.

Still, if true this would cost MS a fair bit of coin.

Well yeah, but who knows how much it'll help those who see a PS4 and Fifa for Christmas. Will it get people to go X1? No doubt, but people can buy a PS4 and Fifa and still get it for cheaper than an X1.

That $3 billion price for the chips is a lifetime estimate for AMD on what they'll make on the Xbox One not how much Microsoft is spending upfront. They have $1 billion reported in games, $700 million in new infrastructure for Xbox Live and $100 million in the controller.

That 3 billion is 6 times more expensive than the 500m dollar investment it took Sony and IBM to develop the Cell...

Who knows. It could be per console sale so Microsoft pays a less than wholesale price but still profitable for EA because they will be moving a ton of copies. I mean they already have exclusive content lined up for one of the most popular game modes in gaming in FIFA Ultimate Team, so sticking it in with the system to help them push the system could be massive.

Depends on how they define "launch units."

I'd imagine it wouldn't be much more than a million units; so back of the envelope I'd guess somewhere around $30-40M or thereabouts.

1. Phil meant the bundle deal is exclusive to X1 and thus can be any 3rd party game

or

2. Phil meant exclusive X1 game but that's changed since he said it

I don't think it's just MS. Pretty much the biggest electronic retailer in Germany throws in a t-shirt and a Hobbit Blu-ray in with every pre-order. PS4 gets nothing because they are already sold out.
