And they're offering better value considering the power of their console. And they're not putting major features behind a fucking paywall. But continue fighting the good fight.

The game coming as a pack though it's not a big deal since people can get it for PS3/PS4/360 and still pay less...
The same thing for BF4 in NA... as long as it is not exclusive, it's really not that huge.

• People that weren't going to buy a PS4 with FIFA, seeing as that is still cheaper.
• People that aren't going to buy the current gen version.
• People ok waiting for whenever Microsoft can actually launch their platform in your country.

Seems like a very small portion of the FIFA audience in there. Current gen sales are going to dominate, and PS4 still launches first and cheaper. This seems more like a desperation move to add value to an overpriced package so they can keep the Kinect in the box.

Bite the bullet Microsoft and pull the Kinect out of the box and drop the price. It will hurt less in the long run.

It honestly makes me wonder. Yes, MS have a colossal war chest to spend but why Xbox? They have been very quick to drop products that aren't making big money in the past, yet the Xbox division seems to have been given a blank cheque time and time again and now this. Is this still Bill Gates' baby?

I think it has more to do with the living room war against competitors like Apple, Google and possibly Amazon, hence the TVTVTV and multimedia focus. It's an insanely lucrative market if they can get a foot in the door. For example, iTunes made revenues of $13 billion dollars in 2012.

Futuristic console? They have completely did a 180 on almost every single bullet point that they presented in their initial philosophy. They had a vision that they've completely turned their back on. The bundled in the Kinect is essentially the only leftover from a company that has perpetual cold feet.

Microsoft are really working over time to get people back on their side. It's certainly working on me, I've went from totally being against the system and actively discouraging people to purchase it to now being open to the idea of getting one myself. Keep up the good work.

Whereas Sony's momentum has faded, and judging by recent rumors it seems to be a conscious decision that they can afford to slow down their train. It's still the platform of choice for me going into next gen by I'd love to be energized by them more at Gamescon.

Please. This "momentum" is PR release after PR release, 180 after 180. You can't surely be so fickle as to buy into hype this easily? Do you really need some new PR approved article with someone proclaiming, "This console is the BESTEST EVAH" each day to hold your attention?

Sony look to be biding their time rather than issuing a new statement each day, no frantic need to correct any mistakes because, well, I don't think they've made any.

In other news, a "free game" is good for the X1 purchaser. I hope it's a proper exclusive and not a moneyhat scenario, mainly because I think moneyhatting is an awful practice.

I don't care about Fifa in the slightest but it certainly would grab attention for the Xbox One in the EU. If Sony are trying to beat MS but launching earlier, MS has to do something to negate that possible unit advantage that Sony might have.

Yeah, I'm from the US and I don't even buy Madden so FIFA is totally off of my radar. But as a guy with a PS4 preordered (who's also getting a 180 next year) I want competition. These companies respond best to direct opposition and it's in my interest that they both stay competitive to fight it out for my money. Hell, even if you're just a diehard fan of either one you should want both to be successful so that YOUR platform of choice stays in top performance.

Kinect features will exist in FIFA, probably mere voice commands but it will add to the game. PS4 will still have the graphical edge but the price advantage is almost no more. FIFA is a game most europeans will want with their console.

It is definitely big. It may be cheaper to get a PS4 and FIFA in Sony territory but for Xbox gamers looking to switch, they are less likely to switch now if they enjoyed the Xbox 360 last gen. And never under estimate parents who don't consider all the things that we forum dwellers do...

They cancelled the launch in 6 small European markets. I live in one of them

The reported preorder allocations in UK were hugely in favour of PS4, so I'm not sure MSFT gain enough units from these markets to get most stock in the UK.

In the US MS shut off preorders for the Xbone well before Sony did for the PS4 and there are stores that have 3-4 times more PS4s on preorder. Anecdotal sure, but that is a lot of ground to make up.
