And can someone tell me if under water exploration and dual sword wielding are new to the franchise or not? I have not played a AC game after Brotherhood

The problem is that the game will never do half the cool things in this trailer. If it even tries the pirate ship scene it'll drop to 10 fps, for one.

And the series has moved so far away from good assassination and stealth segments that I really really want this to be Pirates of the Caribbean the video game, but I just can't imagine that it will pull off half of what it wants, especially considering all the time and money AC3 got and how badly it dropped the ball.

Edward looks pretty cool so far.
Since he's the captain you might be able to recruit crew members.

It would be pretty awesome to have your assassin recruits working alongside you on the ship. And to purchase upgrades for it like you did with the Aquila, and build your own pirate cove like the Homestead.....really hope it delivers on some of this.

Was the naval combat in AC3 any good? I'm really curious if they're going to fully embrace the pirate theme and design the game mechanics around it, or this is just a game about an assassin who also happened to be a pirate

The naval combat was probably the best part of AC3.

Seems like Ubisoft realizes this.

What the ...

Yes, exactly! It's a GAME thus it should be stimulating. Having a bunch of soulless, repetitive shit to do doesn't make it fun. Adding lots of it doesn't make it exciting.

AC3 is the most soulless game I've played in years and feels like a robotic, sterile experience.
To me, soulless would be the trading and crafting. Fuck that shit. But a game giving us things to do within the game asking for unique uses of their systems is stimulating. Have you done the club missions/checklists? They're great! Best of all, they're open and you can try them how and when you want.

Why can't this be a character trait? I admire Ubi for giving us a flawed character. People complain he was a mouthpiece yet complain about something like this? He could have been worse, a super Native hell-bent on destroying white people in a super-cliche fashion. get over it, folks. We have a flawed hero with an amazing turn in the Homestead missions. Was great seeing how he reacted to the romance questions.

Yes, exactly! That's why I loved him, he was really shallow cold in his demeanor but you can tell he was holding a lot of shit in. The moments he lets them slip out, it's a lot more intense and interesting. My favorite scene is when he lashes out at Haythem and shows a moment of weakness. He kind of breaks a lot of stereotypes of lead characters.

I was really excited for AC3 because of the setting but I heard it was garbage and didn't want to spend the money. These games just seem rushed.

The treasure hunting side-missions (can't remember the captain's name whose treasure you go after) were also a highlight in the game. The gorgeous environments were a breath of fresh air compared with the amount of shite areas in AC3. Given where AC4 takes place, fully-fledged missions in jungles or whatnot will be incredible.

AC3 was definitely not rushed, it was overly baked and burnt at some spots. But I can't really tell why people think it is horrible all AC games have had a ton of jank associated with them. It was an ambitious series.

The problem is that he's just freaking boring.

And I honestly didn't see much of a turn in the homestead missions. He's just nice to everyone and would probably even wipe their asses if they asked him to.

The Homestead missions really are integral to really seeing what Connor is like. There is a lot to him if people just listen to a lot of those conversations and how he responds to things. That and when he's interacting with Haythem too. If you don't spend a lot of time in the homestead or really just don't pay attention while there it's easy to miss a lot of it I think.

A clean shaved blondie. Exactly what I want to look like in a game about pirates...

To be fair, the protagonists in some AC games have changed in appearance throughout the game. Ezio grew a beard, and apparently the stress of wearing the Assassin's robe aged Connor five years in a instant.

Cool setting, and a clever way to expand upon one of AC 3's greatest success (naval combat). Can't wait to see what the next gen versions look like.

Looks great. Another awesome CGI trailer. I can't wait to hear more details on the game. Hopefully they take the next step with the Naval Battles.

So it was Blackbeard lol

And I see they are making the new guy a force to be reckoned with if the legendary Blackbeard is giving him that much props.

A good trailer I think, consistent for first unveilings of the franchise. Overly action centric, but a good set up for the tone of the game (?). At least the protagonist looks interesting this time, if a bit of a dick. But hey, pirates were dicks, they can pull it off.

My favourite CGI trailer still remains Revelations. Just something about the music and timing of the sequences gives me chills, even if it wasn't my favourite entry in the series.

For comparison.

The original had one too, but I couldn't find a decent video of it on Youtube.

Never quite understood trailers with nothing but CG. Unless that is PS4 real time footage, but I seriously doubt that.

I hope so, but probably CG bullshit that won't make it into the game.

no, their CGI trailers have all been based on things that happen in game and stuff you can actually do.

Assassins creed cgi trailers usually are somewhat representative of things you'll actually do in the game, I think there will be some form of underwater exploration, I just hope it's actually fun

... Or what the guy above me said xD

If you look at the logos below you will see that they listed current and next-gen consoles. Considering that they didn't mention 'PSN' I guess it is safe to assume that "XBOX LIVE" is the name for the new console.

Makes sense?

Agreed, Revelations trailer is incredible.

Here's a reminder what the AC3 CGI trailer was like:

Incredible Right?

Game... not so much.

Just keep that in mind.

Actually i remember the mission this trailer was based on and while it was different ( many of the core ideas were in it )

Also boarding ship ( like the guy does in the new CGI trailers is something we already saw done properly in at least 2 missions in AC3 so i'm not worried )

What i want is a city intresting enouhg to explore and a personal pirate base to upgrade

Nah, they probably don't know what the system is called yet.

Story setting looks pretty awesome.

And then we see the Assassin in action and it looks like the same fucking game, same fucking costume, gameplay, etc. Blah.

Ill pick it up real cheap- I hope critics get on them for becoming yearly and not making big gameplay upgrades.

Nice trailer, I'm already excited. I hope AC3 was just a slip-up as AC2/B/R were really great games. Still no fatigue for me either with the yearly sequels as long as they don't mess it up again.

Setting looks cool, and everything related to pirates in AC3 was ace so I'm kind of hopeful even if I'm burned out on the series
