Surprise they made Cindy and Aranea that old, though I don't mind it. Nice to have women of varied ages present, not just women in their teens-early 20s, which seems to be the staple in most JRPGs. Though, for Iris, I DID think she was the same age as Noct.

I'm inclined to say Cindy is a much, much better character than Luna as well. She just got saddled with an unfortunate character design.

Cidney suffered from Tifa syndrome, which is when the devs decide to fetishize a character physically despite their personality being sometimes in direct opposition to their outlandish design.

Cidney was at least aware of it and even purportedly used her attractiveness to bring customers to Hammerhead (which is something defenders of her clothing use to justify its existence, sigh). Even then, both of them are so blatantly different from how someone who would dress like that would actually act that it's almost hilarious.

Her outfit aside, Cindy is a good npc. She goes out of her way to help the bros and they do go into her background if you listen to their banter. She isn't complete fanservice like Chocolina.

The point people are trying to make is that her stupid outfit/design unfortunately undermined a character that was actually a lot better than people thought she would be. More developed than Luna at any rate, I liked her well enough. And as others have said, she's not a real person, so this whole argument of "she can dress how she wants" is definitely not the same thing as an actual living person wearing her attire.

Using Luna as a frame of reference, Cindy is a fully fleshed out and realized character. When compared to any game with stronger fleshed out characters, she is extremely weak. Hell, the entire cast of Final Fantasy XV is underdeveloped outside of the core four and Ardyn.

Cindy goes for a hike every morning. She's proud of her body and doesn't mind wearing sexy clothing to help bring in customers to the out of the way location of Hammerhead. Her costume is a cross between a mechanic outfit and a grid girl outfit from race tracks. It makes since as she does lots of racing style decals and mods to your car. In a world where demons walk around 100 feet away from their garage every night, is her outfit really so out of place? There's also hints at something, Holly from the power plant wants you to tell Cindy to call her to go out for a drink sometime. How much more character development do you need for a mechanic/sidequest npc?

All we said, or at least I said, is she that was more developed than Luna, and that I liked her character well enough if I ignore her design. That's a pretty low bar. I don't see anyone acting as if she's some masterfully crafted character, but rather, the character development in general in this game was so lacking that Cindy of all people proved to several of us that she wasn't terrible as we initially thought we'd be.

I was talking more about their personality/outfit dissonance. Cidney's "makes sense" for a mechanic, too, insofar as that it's got goggles and a mechanic jacket and the like. Yes, hers is more egregiously offensive, but the point I was trying to make was that the character and the character design seem to function almost as two different people in both cases. Shy and sweet childhood friend Tifa and girl genius, granddaughter of a famous mechanic Cidney feel very disconnected from Boobs McMiniskirt and Porn Mechanic. At least that was how I saw it while playing the games.

Apparently she was meant to have a new design in the world of ruin where she'd be wearing a full bicycle suit, and it was meant to be to alleviate the concerns regarding her design.

Finished the story yesterday.

I think if you put all puzzle pieces together, the story and what it wants to tell us is great. I watched the anime, I watched the movie, I spent 25 hours with the guys in the open world doing stuff and I was looking up several story details in this thread. But actually the game expects you to do all this, because it fails to tell the story in a way which is worthy for such a AAA game.

I strongly disagree with just about everything he said.I think its alarming when someone in his position says that about a game like this.

FFXV is staunchly in the past in everything but tech.The writing is deplorable,the characters are shallow archtypes and it adds nothing to FF's storied narrative history.

If this game becomes representative of what FF/JRPG means,then maybe its really time for me to complete disengage and move on from this series.

I wonder if there were plans at one time to let her join your party without a glitch. Cuz im getting photos of her doing special poses even in places where you couldn't take Iris. At this point with the dlc cheat items they might as well let you recruit Aranea, Iris and Cor on a post game save or new game+. Also 150 pics is not enough

I disagree, if the central theme of brotherhood was the game, it was still poorly done. The fact that you had to watch a mediocre anime for any semblance of a back story on these characters is already a major fault. If this was incorporated INTO the game we'd have a good starting point. And it was sorely needed as the current story is light as hell.

I constantly felt like I was forced to like these guys. But was given very little to actually care.

There are events in the main game that COULD lead to building a stronger bond with your brothers but are done so in such a terrible way that cheapened the entire premise.

Gladio going off somewhere for no explanation. Ignis going blind off screen in an event that made zero sense to break up the group. Prompto suddenly being a clone/mt stage one whatever and brushed aside.

If the world of Ruin had me re-recruiting these brothers like in FFVI, helping them solve their current issues that would be amazing. Instead of we get a terrible reunion at a convenient railroaded section of the world.

Hell if some events from the anime concluded in the game, like Ignis's search for his recreated recipe, it would be good.

Even the last fight of the game, your bro's are knocked unconcious for whatever reason, oh never mind it was so they could do another cheap ass DBZ fight.

They couldn't even commit to having Noct say "I love you guys."

I guess the whole sense of "brotherhood" only happened to these that waited 10 years watching material with the characters and before the release devoured every single game media like movie, anime, novel, etc... you create the sense of "brotherhood" before start the game.

Because the game itself do shame to create that... the begin is pretty useless because didn't hold any power to relationship between characters and after the open world part you have a group that is supposed to have big ties with each other but the game didn't try to show that to you.

Even the well talked roadtrip is flawed because the ideia of a real roadtrip is complete different from what the game does.

I'm still trying to understand what accomplishment the game tried to do with the characters.

I don't think places have anything to do with poses. She had poses done for Ch.7, and the game can use those poses everywhere.

I agree that they should do a quick job to add these secondary characters, even if half assed like the Aranea glitch, it could be fun to mess around in postgame. But I also see why they don't do it, everyone would complain for the lack of good integration like "why Aranea is silent when running around" or stuff like that.

Ardyn is definitely my highlight of the game. He's a great villain.

It's a big big shame, because with more fleshing out of his history and events in the game I think he would have been my favorite of the series.
