PUBG @ 4k at 40-60 fps with a single 980 TI? LOL good one homie. There are streamers who run the game @ 1440p on 1080 TI SLI (Lirik) and he has to even turn down his settings to get high fps. Its common knowledge that the game has optimization issues.
You might be the exception and not the rule here.
PUBG is really REALLY badly optimized.
Edit: I didnt even see "all max 4k". Holy fuck LOL. Seriously?
I don't want to detract from the thread, but I don't want to be accused of hyperbole when I accused another of the same thing, so...
Dunno what to tell you guys.
i7 3770 + 980ti runs the game just fine.
My roommate's 2600k + 980ti runs the game just fine.
My other roommate's 6500k + 1060 runs the game well over 60fps at 1080p.
His girlfriend's 7700k + 1080ti runs the game at 144fps at 1080p and well over 60fps at 4k.
It's not some perfectly-crafted specimen, but it's far from the horrible mess people make it out to be. The textures definitely take a while to load (like, Halo 2 style), the animations are bad, once every 15 matches or so the framerate can occasionally run anywhere from 200fps to 20fps (especially on non-US servers), and many other things. None of us stream, either, so I dunno how much of a hit that has on framerates. But to say that 1080ti's in SLI can't pull it off means there's something wrong on their end, not the game's. To be fair, I doubt the game benefits much from SLI, so that probably doesn't help, but even a single 1080ti should be able to run it just fine in 4k.
I'd be happy to show you guys, but I've asked before about proper recording software, and nobody has answered. FRAPS is the best choice I've found for 1-to-1 lossless recording, but it murders framerates. Bandicam and Shadowplay have terrible bitrates, so they defeat the purpose. I also just tried to record with Shadowplay for the hell of it, and it doesn't seem to be able to record properly at 4k resolutions, at least in PUBG.
Anyway, downloading Fortnite now. I can't stand the art style, so that's already detracting from the game, but I'll try to keep an open mind. I'll give the ole five-hour-ish test and see what I think.
Fake edit: Downloading at 22megs/second??? Not too shabby, Epic. Not too shabby. I remember downloading UT2k4 on my buddy's brand new 'broadband' at 500kbps and thinking that was impressive. I haven't played an Epic game on pc since then, so this should be quite an upgrade.
I'll post glorious 4k+ screenshots when it's installed. Maybe even some video if FRAPS will cooperate.
More edit: Eh... this game is significantly more arcadey than I expected, and changing the graphics doesn't seem to do anything at all. I can't even enable vsync. Think I'm gonna pass on this one, unfortunately.
