Normally I'm completely against threads like these because no one knows where the money will end up. I've seen a few come and go on here but this is Amirox who's given more to the GAF community than most of us combined.

Plus he was by far my favorite Mod and I believe he was responsible making the Go Ly Dow thread so awesome.

I don't make much working part time, but I managed to donate 25 bucks.

My mom is my emotional rock and lord knows I'd do whatever I could to help her if she was in this position. Wishing your mom the very best!

When I read that she has Lupus, I immediately decided to donate. My wife was diagnosed last March, and I know how hard it is to deal with that.

I'll be donating when I get off work today.

Just donated as well. I hope you and your family can enjoy some valuable time with your Mom, Ami.

I just lost my Grandmother recently, and it still bothers me that she was so miserable and in pain for her last days. Healthcare in this country is quite cruel at times.

Being on Dialysis can be such a stressful thing. Kidney failure results in so many complications - Hemoglobin levels go down, Calcium, Potassium imbalance, blood pressure problems, and then you need to take additional medications to correct them, etc.

Stay strong, Amir0x. Hope your mom gets well soon. Donating in a bit.

My grandmother has a terminal form of adult onset MD and has been visiting specialists for various treatments 15-20 times a year on top of the care provided by her PSW. I'm glad we are in Canada, because our family would not have been able to afford all of those treatments otherwise. It's horrible that some families are forced to choose between the extended life of their loved ones and the avoidance of financial ruin.

Anyhow, I wish I was in the financial position to contribute more. Hopefully you exceed your goal!

My local bank credit card fails security tests quite a few share of times and it did now so, as soon as I get home and get my other card you will be receiving a nice donation Ami :). GAF has helped me a shitload of times, time to give back to something worth it.

We started a facebook group: PEACE OF MIND FOR MOM, which you can join and also send invites to friends. I've not done this facebook thing before so I might be a bit confused on the mechanics of groups, but I think we should be able to shuffle around that group between friends.

My sister CYNTHIA GOLDBERG (that's her facebook) is the administrator of the group, so you can ask for invites through her if you can't find the group.

Again, a million thanks for all involved. You guys show what it means to be a community.

Well, this is something I can relate to. Got a little choked up actually. Medical debt is such a horrible burden.
