Yay for 3D Sonic 2 finally hitting next week. Might have to wait on Freedom Planet, depending how long I'll have the discount for having the demo for.

Where can I get chibi robo+amiibo bundle for cheap?

Also currently playing Project X Zone
It's not bad, but I do hope to finish it within the next few days so I can trade it off.
That or I get bored down the line and put it in the 'trade pile' anyways :V

You'll probably trade it as it's on the long end.
I enjoyed it for what it was, but it did become drudge to get through by the last quarter.

I ain't sellin' PXZ2 though, IT HAS SEGATA SANSHIRO.
I don't care if I get bored of that in time, Segata Sanshiro fo lyfe!

Xeodrifter and Mutant Mudds from Renegade Kid are on sale until 8:59 a.m. PT on Oct. 1.

I guess I will pick up Xeodrifter while it's still on sale. I watched some playthroughs, and it looked like a pretty decent game.

Happy October everyone!

New. Thread. Smell. Ahhh!!!

Maybe we'll get Chibi-Robo Park Patrol on DS VC since Zip Lash is coming out. Not many people played that, being a Wal-Mart exclusive, and it was a good follow-on to the GCN game!

You can never finish Project x Zone, always will come new stages with the same enemies. Until, one day, enemies will tire of be defeated.

Even so, I enjoyed thanks to fanservice (OST included)

Quoting from the September thread:

No idea if you've seen this already but NintenDaan had a 40 minute look at the game.

I hadn't seen this before so thanks! I hadn't paid very close attention to the game but it looks like my suspicion was justified: This doesn't only look like a sequel to 7th Dragon 2020 in the setting but also gameplay. There's still only 3 party members over the 4 in the original. It looks pretty good otherwise but I can't say that I'm not a little bit disappointed. I generally prefer the original 7th Dragon over the grid-based Etrian Odyssey games because of free movement but I feel 3 party members are incredibly limiting in these types of games. Oh well...

I'm hyped! It's my most anticipated 3DS game for the rest of the year :D

hopefully it sells ok so that he doesn't die... and so he can get into Smash!
Same, preordered the game + amiibo pack (the amiibo is too cute).

Apparently Chronus Arc releases today in NA. Looks slightly better than the average Kemco mobile JRPG port.

Everyone is hyped for Chibi-Robo right?! right..? :(

Chibi-Robo for Sm4sh ;_;

Not to go against the grain here but what I've seen of the game honestly doesn't grab me at all similar to how Photo Finder/Let's Go, Photo! went into a direction that doesn't appeal to me. The style of the first game always seemed like the most interesting tbh.

Money's tight at the start of the month (thanks rent) but I'll definitely pick up Freedom Planet during the discount period. Toto Temple Deluxe I'm lucky enough to be reviewing (so far, pretty good), and River City Ransom will get upgraded.

I wonder how soon Nova-111 will go on sale. I know it just came out but I feel like Curve games go on sale quite often.

Freedom Planet, Rivers of Alice and maybe the Kemco RPG for me. I'm buying Legend of Legacy this month so I don't want to get burnt out on RPGs.

Chibi Robo will be my first physical retail game for 3DS since 2013. Might just buy it, trade the game in and pay to difference for the download version.

Played the first level of freedom planet so far, it was pretty fun and longer than I expected.
The opening for the game had some pretty cringy voicework though.

Also upgraded my river city ransom for a dollar, and plan to get chronus arc at some point today.

So Freedom Planet being 15% off = $12.75, right? How long do I have to buy the game at that price?

Alright, so end of Oct., that's good to know. My backlog is big enough thanks to Sept., Oct. is just gonna add on to it. Might wait on Freedom Planet until a future paycheck &/or when I clear out some of my backlog.

The voices in Freedom Planet could really use some work. I can deal with the kinda cringey acting, but what bothers me more is that the volume on the voices is all over the place. They really need to go through and normalize that.

Yes, that shelled duck guy Torque is clearly using a much different mike than everyone else. It sounds like he was added in by a fan after the game was finished or something.

Not to go against the grain here but what I've seen of the game honestly doesn't grab me at all similar to how Photo Finder/Let's Go, Photo! went into a direction that doesn't appeal to me. The style of the first game always seemed like the most interesting tbh.

While I find the direction of the original CR most appealing, I welcome drastic changes in a series. The idea behind Photo Finder pretty neat, the problem was that I could never get a proper picture and the time it takes between mini games is pretty long, problems mainly caused by the 3DS hardware.

BTW I've played CR for the first time recently after replaying Park Patrol, and I thought its amazing how such a cute game targeted towards kids made me genuinely laugh, smile, and feel sad more than any recent AAA title, I really don't want this series to die.

Previews for Zip Lash seem to be extremely positive, so I'm even more hyped now than ever for probably my most anticipated game this year.

Might be the last Chibi-Robo product I buy, RIP :(

This doesn't only look like a sequel to 7th Dragon 2020 in the setting but also gameplay.
I don't know about the other part since I haven't had a chance to play the PSP games, but you're partially wrong about the settings bit. There's three "worlds" in this game: the 2020 setting, the one from the first game, and a new one. So... you get that at least, I guess ^^u

Didn't I read that you can disable the VO? That's the first thing I'd do in the game after booting it up.

From what I've heard, there's a mode that basically skips most, if not all the cutscenes to closer emulate a Genesis-era game, so it goes from stage to stage without interruptions, similar to, say, Sonic 2.

Sounds like the best way to experience this. Not sure why they even bothered with VO but then again I'm completely baffled by people who invest anything into the craptacular Sonic lore and stories, too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it looks bad, it just doesn't excite me that much, especially when I haven't even bought the newest Yoshi and Kirby games to quench my thirst for 2D games yet.

Oh, alright. Didn't know that, thanks. Wonder how they're going to tie them together. The 2020 setting doesn't bother me that much tbh but all of this is moot anyway if we don't get a localization :p

Having spent several hours with chronus arc I can say that it is the best kemco/rpg maker game on the 3ds.
The characters and enemies have good animation, there is the best sprite work from mobile ported games I have seen, and there is some real effort put into the battle-system/story.
I was only planning on playing the game for an hour, but I'm having a lot of fun with it that I'll probably play through it. It definitely has the feel of a super nintendo rpg.

Looks like the Freedom Planet devs missed a bug: https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHkfjvup7g

Stevie said:
We've recently discovered that the game may freeze on some consoles in one specific cutscene. It happens after Fortune Night when Syntax the robot says "Hello sir. Have you beheaded the intruders yet?"

If the game freezes at this point, here are some solutions you can try to avoid it and continue with the game:

1. When Syntax starts saying this line, press any button immediately to skip to the next line.
2. Pause the game at the beginning of the cutscene and select Skip Scene from the menu.
3. Transfer the game from the Wii U console to an external hard drive and play it from there. You can find information on external devices through Nintendo's web site.

We will patch the game as soon as we can to fix this, but in the meantime, we hope these suggestions help. Thank you for playing!!

Interesting that they suggest moving the game to an external HDD to fix it. Usually these types of bugs are caused by assets not loading fast enough, but this suggests that they're actually loading too fast. Sounds like they may have a race condition on their hands.

Not sure if this is significant enough for its own thread.

Going too fast is a pretty appropriate bug for a Sonic homage
