Geez, you're pretty vindictive. I can tell you take these things very personally.
HAH! Ok sure whatever you say. Couldn't just be that it was a particularly ridiculous argument that went on for pages. Nah. Couldn't be that.

What do most people think the PS4 will end up at? Will it pass the PS1? Will it pass the GB/GBC combo? Will it pass the PS2?
Also the PS4 already sold ~1/3 of what the PS3 did in just over two years. that's impressive.
So, yes, it's very likely somewhere between 14-16 million but right now all we know is MAUs. Which is surely a much better business KPI than miles driven in Forza 6 btw.
I always thought number of zombies killed in Dead Rising was the de-facto measure of success in console launches
More catty or a snide then....I think you might want to look up what passive aggressive means...
Talking about vindictive, weren't you one of the guys that necroed one of Crackdown 3 tech threads when MS released a tech demo on Gamescom? xD
Yup. That was well deserved and a long time coming though.
No it wasn't. I made a post and people decided to focus on ONE sentence of it, instead of the rest of the post, which was about the lineup next year compared to this year.
But yeah, RexNovis seems to be really focused on this. Probably due to an earlier run-in we had, I guess.
Pre-season got extended.Nah. Since pre season ended it has defaulted to number of bullets fired in Halo 5.
I still think the PS4 will sell 120 million at the very end of its life, so passing PS1 but behind PS2. It's still kinda hard to tell, honestly. Many of us are expecting 2016 to be the peak year for the PS4, but 2017 could also be a massive year. Or sales could drop off significantly. No one can really tell just yet. What do most people think the PS4 will end up at? Will it pass the PS1? Will it pass the GB/GBC combo? Will it pass the PS2?

Good sales for PS4. Were there any salty posts BTW?
Didn't EA say they expect 50 million consoles until the end of the year?
Let's say PS4 get's to 34-35 million this year. That would mean XB1 would be at 15-16 million at the end of the year.
I wonder if the data EA had was outdated and PS4 sold more than they expected since 50 million seems to low when PS4 alone is 35 million this year.
Well when someone says something dumb people are gonna mention that it's dumb. I don't know how my responding to a post asking what they missed by citing the carnival of stupid that happened for three pages is being focused on you and I have no idea whatsoever what "earlier run-in" you are talking about. But if it makes you feel better to think that I'm targeting you instead of you just saying incredibly dumb things that people think are dumb sure you go right ahead.
To be fair, here we are three years later and it seems all that matters to him now are the games:This one in particular is beautiful.
I got both. I honestly just use the XBO purely for exclusives. The only multi-platform games I have for are from GWG and EA Access. Everything else I instantly buy for PS4 instead. Hasn't failed me so far.
wii u, sure. xb1, i don't think so? like last gen saw the ps3 and 360 doing pretty comparable numbers while offering pretty much the same thing. now microsoft is doing maybe 40%-50% of what sony does in a year. it's a pretty huge decline from last gen that i don't think can be explained by the poor xb1 announcement in may. or maybe there were a lot of people who owned both a 360 and a ps3 and now they're choosing one or the other. that doesn't explain declines in software sales though.
i'd say this is more akin to the ps2 when it was basically the de facto video game platform of its time, although the xb1 is going to wind up doing a lot better than the original xbox. the problem is that the overall base seems a lot smaller now. it's good for sony though.
You don't think they made mistakes with the XBO, that resulted with lesser sales? The online DRM tactics they had in place, and the US-centric services, turned a lot of European customers away from the brand. The PS3 had none of those, although it was also more expensive and offered a lesser 3rd party experience, like the XBO. It was a sum of several screw ups, that lead to today's situation.

The Xbox One would probably be in the top spot in the U.S. and U.K. if the system had better PR before its launch.
But yeah, the gen was decided when we knew the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 would release at the same time. PlayStation has a lock on European audiences (as the PS3 showed) therefore greatly helping it in terms of worldwide sales.
It could have all the positive PR in the world but it would have still trailed behind because consumers will opt for the cheaper box.

Lol this is bullshit.
So long as the Xbone was more expensive and had inferior hardware it would have sold LESS than the PS4.
Testament to this is the fact that even after NUMEROUS price-drops it continuously loses out the PS4 which is MORE expensive than the Xbone.
I wouldn't call it being out of touch. It was more a reflection of the state of things back in 2012, before the new consoles were announced.
huh? How was NeoGAF out of teach?. Based on how 360 and PS3 were doing in 2012, everyone predicted Microsoft will again nail it in next gen given the money and how Sony as a company itself was struggling in every division.
No one saw it coming how Microsoft manage to fuck up. It was next level disaster. Bigger than RROD tbh. This is what I love about this industry. Anything can happen. I very much looking forward to next cycle. Whenever it happens.
Back then, no one knew that Microsoft would royally fuck up the Xbox One as much as they did. I could see the PS4 still being in first place but you think the gap would be this big had the Xbox One matched the PS4 in both price and hardware and with none of the bad rap?
People do that a lot in GAF, but it's just reacting to what you currently know.
A few months before the PS4 came out, people thought it was going to be as strong as high-end PC's of the time.
I bet a few people now think it's going to sell more than the PS2 did due to this thread. It's all about reacting to the current news and not really thinking in the long term.

i don't think that the direction of their may 2013 reveal was so damaging when the system launched that it's still a factor. instead, i think there are fewer buyers of dedicated hardware this gen period. otherwise, i think ps4 sales would be a bit higher to better offset the place microsoft finds themselves in right now.

You're forgetting ps4 doesn't have Halo ;p
Neither did Xbone when it launched.
It had Titanfall hype though. /s

You assume that people put off by the XB1's original DRM scheme would have went to PS4 because of that when they very well could've chosen to instead become PC Gamers. Maybe these people were okay with going all-digital and only disliked the DRM because it required online. Not everyone has a stable enough connection to always be online even if they have a stable enough connection to download a game from Steam. Even my connection flakes out from time to time and I have a ton of Steam games.
The PS4 has been kicking ass for a while now and rightfully so if you ask me. It has a nice lineup of games, multi-platform games usually run at 1080p and Sony made some brilliant marketing decisions since its announcement. Although I do miss the days where Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all had consoles out on the market at or around the same time, it feels as if back then there was more competition and therefore more creative diversity and must-own exclusives per-platform. Let's hope the NX can spice things up again soon.

I have one question sorry if it's a bit off topic but I do game on pc but mostly through GOG is it possible to play your steam games even without internet access?
You can play Steam games offline, and it doesn't require you to sign in daily like the pre-180 Xbox One did. Naturally, you can't use any online feature while offline of course, but Steam games can be played offline.
I disagree.i don't think that the direction of their may 2013 reveal was so damaging when the system launched that it's still a factor.
Im going through some PS4 reveal articles, alot of people were making a big deal out of the fact that Sony didnt show what the PS4 looked like at the reveal. Man that really came back to haunt Sony didnt it?
People are way to reactionary, just let things play out.
40% of all households has one or more gaming consoles, of which:
13% has a PS4
5% has an Xbox One
5% has a Wii U
I've edited it in.
I guess compared to other european markets, that's still an acceptable split for Xbox, and a good one for WiiU.
You said you could give us something to compare with last gen. This would be very kind of you.
You're forgetting ps4 doesn't have Halo ;p
Have you seen Titanfall?
Or 90% digital sales.
Console meme of this gen?
It's already overused, to be honest.
