Puyo Puyo Tetris coming to Americas and Europe

Is this game really beloved or something? Never played it.

Very, it's one of the only games I've imported due to how good everyone made it sound. It's basically the best Tetris game crossed with another great series. Puyo is hard though so I usually would play the Tetris stuff :p

It's the best version of Tetris on this generation of consoles, one of the other best puzzle games in Puyo Puyo, and some fun variants that mix the two. If you love Tetris, give it a shot. If nothing else clicks you have a good version of Tetris as opposed to the abomination Ubisoft put out a couple years back.

It's generally held up as one of the best releases for both of the games featured. With Puyo Puyo not having a release for a while outside of Japan and Ubisoft's digital Tetris game being complete shit, this is a pretty big deal.

Will you be able to play with other regions? I'm double if not triple dipping, but it would be nice to polish the trophies for the import version off and more online players would certainly help.

Again, I would LIKE to get the Switch version but I'm probably going to get the PS4 version because of Share (gameplay video capture).

Edit
Just read PS4 version is Physical only, sooooo Switch it is... :|

ahahahaha

if they didn't bring the Xbox One version over, what makes you think they'd do the Vita

I'd argue that the Vita version would sell just as much if not more than the X1 version. There might not be a lot of Vitas in the wild but this is a really niche game that lends itself well to portable systems. I'd probably double dip if it released over here.

Switch actually has sharing features, we don't know the extent yet though!

So basically this game came out on every system under the sun in Japan but over on the west its coming to Switch and PS4 only?

I usually am a physical version first and digital only if there's no option but I'd rather have this one on PS4 digitally or otherwise I fear I'll be too lazy to change discs just for a quick match.

I'll have to buy the physical disc it seems.

I would've bought this shit in a second on Vita too. I need Tetris in my portables.

If it would sell as much as one that isn't deemed worthy of releasing then why would they release the vita one and not the xbone one?

The 3DS version would be more likely than either to make it over, and it didn't either.

The 3DS version deserves more love, it really did feel like Sonic Team spent most of their time on it, probably because it was the version that would (and did) end up selling the most. I had this to say about it last year:

I would definitely recommend 3DS Puyo Tetris to anyone considering it, it's a great example of a bespoke version of a multiplatform game built for specialised hardware. They didn't just shrink down the console image to a smaller upper screen, instead everything about the game was rethought and redesigned around the dual screens, right down to the menus and interface, and it feels really special as a result.

And the 3D is phenomenal, as the visuals are actually rendered in 3D space, rather than as fixed layers. Big Bang mode looks a treat.

It's such a damn great version of the game, the menus, interface and 3D effect are superbly implemented, and the online mode is still very active. I wish the Vita version had the same attention to detail - instead it's the console interface shrunken down to the 5" screen with the resolution quartered, I'm guessing the same is true of the Switch version too. But I wonder if the Switch version allows for online play with 3DS/Wii U players.

I've heard great things about this game so I'm exctied, but it's baffling why there is no XB1 version, even a digital only version would have sufficed and I'm pretty sure it was on XB1 in Japan.

I'll grab a PS4 copy although I wish I could get it digitally there as well.

Guess I need to post this again since there are some people who seem to have already forgotten after 2 page. Wow, how the mind slips!

Ubisoft. EA had the license last generation. A lot of the EA licenses went to Ubisoft. Tetris and practically anything based on Hasbro properties (i.e. Monopoly, Risk, Boggle, etc.)

Ubisoft is the one that made Tetris have frame rate problems on the PS4, right? I feel like that is one of the all time lows in gaming.

I last purchased Tetris Party on the Wii and the really good Tetris on DS. This game might replace both of them.

Gives all the fucks
It should be mentioned that in Japan, PS3 & Vita got digital releases, but not PS4, I'm sure for the same reason. X1 version also didn't have a digital version, only physical. Tetris Company rules are weird.

Anyone know the download size of this game? Seems like a game I'd always want to have on the Switch.
Not sure how much it helps, but Vita was 973MB while PS3 was 2.4GB. I have no idea how big the Wii U version was (I doubt the 3DS version is worth comparing to).

I have the JP version for Xbox. I'd only double triple dip if I'm getting the Switch version, I guess.

It would be interesting if the JP version on PS4 plays in English based on your System settings.

Did anyone in here import the PS4 and Vita Version from Japan? I am wondering whether there is a cross save feature between those 2 versions. I want to buy both versions, but if there is no Cross save feature I might get the localized PS4 version and the JP Vita version.

Nah, they're actually a little different.

Does anyone know how the vita version is. If I import it can it be set to english or is it atleast simple to understand the menus (and no rp elements with loads of texts)?

Because the minimum order for physical release is highest on Xbox One by a big margin (I've heard 75k or 50k a few times and a few people saying 200k) compared to other platforms. PS4 they can do whatever print run they want and it will no doubt sell more than Xbox One would. On Xbox if they were confident they could sell that many, they would do it. Vita they could've done if they wanted becasue you can do a smaller print run. Licensing was for physical only.

For Switch since it is a new license (I assume) they could add digital and it is digital also on Switch.

See this thread

There's not much you need to know, honestly. The story in this game is non-existent. It doesn't need to be in English.

Vita d-pad is really good for this game. DS4, not so much.

Like, the DLC isn't included in the Vita version etc. menu selection is difference too. Gameplay should be exactly the same though.

AFAIK, gameplay actually isn't the same.

This game had two releases in Japan. The first was on PS3/Vita/WiiU/3DS, and the second was on PS4/XB1.

The second release reportedly rebalanced how garbage functions in Puyo vs. Tetris.

Really?

I thought it was the same when patched. I guess I don't know what I'm talking about.
