I don't think PS4 Pro is supply constrained. PS VR on the other hand..
Because it's much more pricey than the base PS4.That actually sounds bad, why wouldn't people by the latest PS?
Serves them right, hope Scorpio will share the same fate. Those ingen upgrades need to burn in hell.
Scorpio's performance depends on it's price. It can only go up. It won't do as bad as this with the marketing and it being a more polished product.

If it's as cheap as the pro, it could easily outperform it.
If it's $500 or more, it could be a disaster.

In terms of sales? No, price matters a lot in this market. No, I still believe its all about the games no matter the price.

Not a crazy idea that lil Timmy with a PS4 from 2015 doesn't have his parents upgrade him to a Pro.
I love my ps4, I have no interest in a Pro. It doesn't offer much over the launch system.
Or that little Tommy's parents see a $249 amateur and a $400 pro and make the only sensible decision in those circumstances.
I don't believe the chances are great. The yearly updated phones basically always sell more than last year's model, even being more expensive. This is just selling a fraction of it, so it doesn't quite mimic the success.
Way highter than what I expected. I was thinking 100k out of every 1 million ps4's were Pro's.
For new ps4 owners it's not far off, 120k per million, the other 80k being upgrades for existing owners.
Honestly I was expecting the balance to be even heavier towards existing owners, and the quantity to be much higher overall.
Need actual numbers 1 in 5 doesn't mean shit to me. Could be 20 putta 100 or 5000 outta 25000. Spin it all you want Sony.
1 in 5 is great considering the average consumer would go for the cheapest unit, as long as it does the job.
Could've been 2 in 5 had Sony not dropped the ball on features like 4K Blu-ray.
I'm disappointed that the Pro came out too weak to make 1080p60 a reality, but still went for it
Also, if they didn't have supply issues, I think they should have phased out old spec altogether

E3 price drop and could move to 40%
PSVR could not sold double the amount because they could not make double the amount.
Also just because it's in your area does not mean it does not have supply problems .
I don't buy this narrative of "is above expectations". Sony clearly released the PS4 Pro with a replacement mindset.
It was only a few months ago that Sony was saying that PS4 Pros were selling more than PS4 Slim so I guess the OG 500 GB model is still the reigning king?
Pro could have replaced the original wholly, say if it also came with a 500GB 299€ versionWhat do you mean?
GPU computation and filtering capability was more than doubled, just the slightly upclocked CPU can't keep upOléGunner;239342994 said:The next Playstation won't do 1080p60 either for graphically demanding games.
Good numbers. Like others, I trust Mat's take on this (not to mention Sony's own statements).
The part that surprises me is that 40% were PS4 owners, upgrading. I expected that percentage to be much higher -- more in the 70% range. There were a lot more people buying the Pro as their first PS4 system than I expected.
I wonder what the ratio will be for Scorpio. I thought it would be mostly hardcore Xbox guys upgrading -- but that's what I thought about the Pro, and it only turned out to be 40%. Maybe a majority of people will be buying Scorpio as their first Xbox system. Hmm.

It seems that the internet is excited for Scorpio. Not just here but on Reddit etc people just seem more and more excited each day. But then again so the the PS4 Pro crowd including myself.I've been thinking about this and I'm sure this number will be higher on the Xbox...at least 50% higher.
I see the Scorpio as a much nicher product than the pro, so most sells will be the hardcore base upgrading. But we'll have a much better base for predictions after E3 (price, games etc)
Makes you wonder whether Sony will announce the PS5 and PS5 Pro at the same time? PS5 for $349 and PS5 Pro for $499. Doubt it though as it kind of defeats the point.20% of new PS4s isn't bad but when you consider the overall percentage (compared to PS4 lifespan) its probably going to be less than 5%?
With numbers that low it's no wonder developers are putting minimal effort into Pro features.

Even if that's a good ratio, it kinda confirms that making meaningful use of the extra power will continue to not be a priority.
Unless something changes, I'll hold out for PS5 (or whatever the equivalent upgrade is called.)

I think it's going to be hard to judge but I honestly think that the PS4 Pro has helped to sell the Scorpio to the masses. After seeing what the Pro could do in regards to CB4k and HDR, those fans seem even more excited due to their console being more powerful. So yeah I think Scorpio will sell more.
I disagree with the storage comment because Apple has long proved that 100 could be charged for much much lessSorry but that makes no sense.
For one, the difference between a 500Gb and 1Tb hdd is not $100.
Secondly, they did replaced the original wholly, with a 299 version...it's called the Slim?
In my opinion it is. It's constantly on sale where I live and still only one out of five PlayStations is a pro?
But I kinda understand, the upgrade you get with the pro is underwhelming. It cannot even get 1080p games to 60fps nor will it consistently render at 4k.
I don't think sony is happy about that and that's a good thing. Ingen upgrades are anti consumer I want them to go away.
It's a great number. The PS4 Pro targets a core gamer niche that owns a 4k set with a significantly higher price point. It's actually quite fantastic.
You must be living in fantasy land because nothing you have said matches the reality of the situation.

Of course Sony didn't go all Pro and now we know that the Pro supply chain couldn't have supported this, even if imho it would have made sense
