I really hope they just name it Xbox.
Or really just screw with people and name it Original Xbox.
I think eventually that will happen.
Would kill for that old green X appearing on black in the original Xbox ads as a boot logo. Hype.
I really hope they just name it Xbox.

Hopefully they can figure out how to get rid of the power brick.
Nintendo invented it 20 years ago with their handhelds.
I really hope they just name it Xbox.

Maybe in the future. But this one is still gonna be called Xbox One (something)
Will otherwise be way to confusing.
Speculation or inside info?
Not in the slightest. All he said was PR bull on how they wanted to market such a thing as a significant difference. They will be doing the same as Sony and they will release a new iteration of the Xbox One.didn't they recently say they have no interest in a .5 system mid gen?
True enough. I have to admit, it is pretty sweet but at that price, i just cant afford it for what id do with it.
Phil could have been overruledthe rumors and the statements are in conflict.
strange that Phil is the one who started this whole "upgraded console" thing and then goes back and says he is not a fan of an Xbox 1.5. so what's the deal here?
Phil could have been overruled
Phil could have been overruled
Or Xbox 10
Maybe a crazy thought. Would MS just take a loss and really make sure to beat the Neo spec wise and keep the same price as the Neo. I know MS has alot of money and just take that loss in the beginning?
Didn't Phil Spencer say he doesn't like the idea of an Xbox 1.5?
then again he seems to say whatever people want to hear at the time
yes, he said that right after he hinted at an xbox 1.5
it was pretty clear he was trying to say their new hardware would be better than a "half step".
Perhaps it may be better on Xbox but looking at PC I would say whole heatedly no. UWP is a disaster on PC in its current form.

It's not a crazy thought. I think they are going to take a bigger hit on hardware than they initially did with XBO. Just look at how fast they started dropping the price of XBO. Since the start of this gen digital sales have skyrocketed and continue to grow, this means that each user is worth a lot more now than in the past. On top of that with the melding of their Windows 10 ecosystem they have even more reason to get as many users as possible. Didn't you say Zen would make it more expensive? I think Microsoft would at least match the 4tf.Brainedstormed some nexbox devices:
Xbox TV:
2 core Puma / Zen at 1.8 ghz.
2 cu cpu, 128:16:8 GPU at 600 mhz.
4GB of LDDR4 on 64 bit bus. 32 gb/s.
Comes with gesture enabled remote with in built microphone.
Kinect sold separately. Controller sold separately. Works with any KB&M.
$199
Xbox Slim:
8 core Puma / Zen at 2.1 ghz
12 CU Polaris gpu, 768:48:16 GPU at 1050 mhz. 1.6 teraflops.
32mb esram.
12GB of LPDDR4 on 128 bit bus. 68 gb/s.
Comes with controller.
OS runs smoother.
Old xbox one games run in BC mode. New Xbox one games run in UWP mode, with ability to use up to 8GB of ram, the increased cpu and gpu power.
$299.
Xbox Two:
8 core Zen at 2.1 ghz
24 CU gpu, 1536:96:32 at 1050 mhz. 3.2 teraflops.
32mb of Esram.
16GB of DDR4 on 256 bit bus. 100 gb/s
$399
Xbox Three:
8 core Zen at 2.1 ghz
32 CU gpu at 1050 mhz. 4.8 teraflops
Some amounts of HBM2 on the APU.
16GB of DDR4 on 256 bit bus. 100 gb/s
$499
Xbox Four (in a few years time):
16 core CPU at 2.4 ghz
64 CU gpu at 1.2 ghz. ~10 teraflops
64GB of HBM2.
$399

I must've misread then, either way. I think it'll be Jaguar at 2.1ghz with at least a 4tf Gpu. The RAM is the only thing I'm not sure of.No? I don't see how it would be that much more pricer than Jaguar / Puma.
I could very well see that too. Part of me thinks the $500 Elite bundle was testing the waters for a configuration that they could sell at $500. A $500 box without kinect that is close to breaking even on BOM would actually be pretty damn solid. Then they could sell a slim XBO at $250 this holiday. If they introduce several configurations like the ones I listed before, they might want to take a hit only on the most popular and mainstream configuration, while make profits on the less popular ones.

I'm torn n on if they would reconfigure the XBO APU for a slim. Using 14nm they could easily OC what is already there and even add a few CUs to the GPU while still greatly shrinking the die. This would allow them to cut costs and match or exceed the standard PS4 in power at a mainstream price. The problem then becomes asking developers to support three different configurations at the same time since OG XBO would still need to be supported. I suppose it all hinges on how easy UWP makes all of this cross device development.
No? I don't see how it would be that much more pricer than Jaguar / Puma.
That is more or less how I see it happening as well, I guess I just want to learn more about the full capabilities of UWP. Developers at the very least would have to include settings profiles for each hardware configuration, and I fear that too many configurations would lead to all of the profiles being slapped together. I also feel like more than two configurations at any given time would just create confusion on the market.Imo it'll be two configuration.
1 configuration would be Xbox 1 mode.
2nd configuration would be UWP. Less to the metal so less efficient, but the binaries can target a variety of hardware, including the new Xboxes and W10 PCs.
All the Xbow devices that I listed, the slim, the two, three, etc will be run legacy Xb1 games in the Xb1 VM on the hypervisor.
For newer Xb1 games, they'll ship with capability to run on two VMs, legacy and UWP vm.
Legacy will be fixed and to the metal, while UWP will be scaleable, essentially the PC version.
Didn't Phil Spencer say he doesn't like the idea of an Xbox 1.5?

I think I mentioned this in the other thread but I think voice control will be built in somehow.
They've abandoned Kinect but Cortana will still be pushed.
On the name, my bet is on one of:
Xbox One S (remember there was a 360 S and E)
Xbox
Xbox 4K
