US PSN Flash Sale 1/20 incoming

The driving in Sleeping Dogs is abysmally bad, and gets in the way of an otherwise pretty fun action game. I'm not anywhere near finished with it as I've only logged in about 3 hours or so, but damn does it make me want to quit. The other aspects they've introduced are pretty decent though.

You get used to it and it gets better. Ride a bike.

the car jacking is fun lol

I bought SD for XB1 a while back and haven't touched it. I'm playing far more on my PS4 and would rather play it on there. It might finally be time. :)

I thought about getting it (and may still do so) but then I looked at my backlog and decided against it. Like, I have so many high-quality games to go through (and replay!) that I really want to add a "eh, it's not bad for $5"-level game to it? At $5 it's not about the money, it's about the time I would invest in a game that I'm unlikely to enjoy given all the criticism I've read about it.
It looks nice enough to at least spend an hour or two with I think. When you consider you could pay more to see a movie that's all about looking nice it's really not so bad.

Rogue Galaxy worth playing?

Yes and no. It many ways, it's A tier PS2 jrpg. It's got absolutely fantastic atmosphere, solid characters, solid story, very good combat, and cool upgrade systems.

On the other hand, it's also got everything else and the kitchen sink. You've got optional hunter licenses where you need to kill X of every creature, meaning you need to find specific obscure map corners where certain rare creatures reside and run in circles trying to spawn combat with them till you kill 10 or 20. You've got crafting and weapon upgrades up the kazoo. You'll eventually have access to an entire factory where you create crafting parts.

It's burnout city for me. I've literally tried to beat the game 4 times, and always burn out on the road there. There's just too much to do, too much running around, etc. Most of it is technically 'optional' but who doesn't want to, say, finish hunting licenses?

Buy Sleeping Dogs my friends, or else you're going to be lonely.

Sleeping Dogs is a gem. Really fun. I plat'd it on PS3 and have rebought it on ps4. Something about the combat just makes the game really work.

Buy Assault Android Cactus. It's a steal at $4.99.

The best game here, imo. If you like dual stick shooters, this is AAA tier.

Don't believe the people that are saying The Order is not worth $5. It's one of the best looking games on the PS4 (and an easy platinum ;)

Yup. I'll never understand the hate. The game has a couple issues, but overall is a beautifully crafted game with interesting and unique weapons in a stunningly designed environment. Even pausing the game results in stunning art. It's a bit too short, there aren't enough combat encounters, and there is some qte nonsense... but overall? It's so much better than most games on shelves and for it to get the hate it did makes zero sense to me. I'm not saying it's a great game, necessarily, but it's solidly good and the idea that it might not be worth $5 when people spend more on stuff like Homefront blows my mind.

I only played gat out of hell, was fun, but short and really content lacking, how is it 4? what are the main differences with gat?

i can't decide between Saint Row or Sleeping Dogs

SR4 is basically the same as Gat, except bigger. There's more of everything. Different main character, lots more story missions, more abilities, and just way more content in every way.

Well.....I should have waited a day before buying what I bought. Sony decided to send me $10 for free this morning, doh!

If only I had known, I wouldn't have bought a gift card yesterday.

First impressions of The Order.

Indoor areas look very nice.

Mirror reflections aren't real time at all. They're just 2D faked reflections that look awful up close.

Haha

Have yet to shoot anything.

Edit* So far, now that I've shot things, this is also the easiest shooter ever...

Child of Light worth it I guess, but I wonder if it would be free at some point.

I didn't like it. Was like playing RPG lite. About 2 hours and I gave up

how is Psychonauts on PS4?

looks janky/ps2ish. I have a 52" tv and it looks fuzzy. I don't think it's aged too well

Re: Risk of Rain.
I bought this on Steam and I rebought for PS4 and playing it on the big screen tv is everything. Fun game.

Knack
Great visuals. Played about 2 hours. At chapter 2.2 and I think it's pretty good. Some curious 1 hit kills but I'm loving how it looks ( Big PLUS, its got a high frame rate mode for PS4pro)

Saint's Row 4 was so much fun. Absolutely ridiculous but was a total blast to play through. A lot of game in it too. buy it.

I'm tempted to pull the trigger on "Guns, Gore, and Connoli". What is the general consensus on this game?
It's not the best 2D shooter ever but it's far from bad. It has a lot in common with Metal Slug and looks pretty good (if you tolerate *great flash animation) while running @60fps.
It's worth it at that price!

Picked up Skullgirls and Korra. For Platinum, that game has issues. It's fun but I'm disappointed. Worth the $5. Skullgirls is great as always.

I got Knack, The Order 1886, and Rogue Galaxy. Great deal for $15 total. I've only played an hour of Knack so far, but I'm having fun and it's well worth five bucks.

This was a great deal; ended up getting the following for 20$
  • Risk of Rain
  • MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune vs. Zombies
  • Dustforce
  • Borderlands 2
  • Hitman GO Definitive Edition
This plus games I'm still playing through (Axiom Verge, Severed, Ray Gigant, etc) means I will be very busy using my Vita for great gaming :).

I'm just starting it also

Cinematic->QT-->Free Movement for a few feet-->Cinematic-->QT.....

I agree that the game looks great, but I was laughing at loud ad the first shooting sequence with identical looking escapees who crumple down in the exact same animation when shot.

Of course it's worth the 5 buck but wow

Ten minutes into MegaTagmension and all I can think is:

"I've made a huge mistake."

That's money that could've gone towards Skullgirls instead.

Thinking about The Order and The Wolf Among Us (big Fables fan)

For $5 each both seem worth it.

Is Wolf Among Us at least playable on PS4?

As someone who did not enjoy Gat out of Hell, might I enjoy Saints Row 4? I didn't like that there wasn't much of a story path and I didn't think the side stuff was any fun. I also didn't enjoy flying around much. I enjoyed Saints Row 2 a lot and thought 3 was okay.

Yeah, I'm still undecided, but continue to lean towards no. I actually bought Lords of the Fallen and right before downloading I decided against it and asked for a refund. I have such a large backlog right now that I can't really afford to add average stuff to it.

I played a bunch of two player Assault Android Cactus tonight and it was amazing, up there with the best coop gaming I've ever experienced. There's some legit strategy when choosing androids, some of them really compliment each other and have almost puzzle-like uses for the bosses. Top tier coop and a must buy at $5.

I just want to say that Super Mega Baseball is very fun and addictive. Crank up the difficulty a bit and it's some good arcade baseball (that tracks somewhat-advanced stats!)

You know what makes me doubt the most?

More than half of the games have been on PS+ already, and the other ones are really most likely to become free in a not far future.

Thanks Sony

What time is it?

Aside from Baseball Stars, it's the most fun I've had with a baseball game since the NES era. The only thin that would stop me from recommending is that the sequel is due out this year.
