I really enjoyed playing this with random peeps online. Oh' well. Had to end sometime.

A little last minute, but Ni no Kuni DS definitely has some stuff. You seem to grab it all automatically by connecting online at least so it seems to be easy (I played the first five minutes up to a save and then grabbed it all, so hopefully it's fine like it seems to be).

IIRC Fire Emblem 12 (New Mystery of the Emblem) also has some downloadable content to be grabbed, but I believe I did that a while ago.

Been trying to find a match in Sonic Rush Adventure and Sonic Colors DS to no avail. No one wants to log on for the final 2 days of the service.

I'll keep trying on and off today and tomorrow, if anyone logs on, feel free to kick my ass in the game.

Playing the last bit of bomberman blitz online :(

After this, there will no longer be ANY online bomberman games on a Nintendo system. Presumably ever. Think about that

Cutting it down to the wire here, but I just now opened up Segal's Social Club in Prof Layton and the Last Specter.

EDIT: And finished.

Oh shit, is this Layton Life? I'm probably boned there, but I can check later into what needs to be done.

I microwave steaks.
Played some games of Tatsunoko, Mario Strikers, and Brawl with my good friend hyperfludd. Mario Strikers charged online is still as great as I remembered it was, 7 years ago. man

Guys, I think it's finally gone. I can't seem to connect to GTS. I got the error code 52011 twice. I will attempt to reconnect just to be sure serves aren't busy.

EDIT: was able to connect but got a communication error

Played my first TvC match online after owning it for a couple of years....Got rocked. Netcode is great though, I was amazed at how fluidly my ass was handed to me.

Still getting junk in Last Story. But maybe that's a Halo 2 situation where if you're on you're staying on.

So I bought Fire Emblem and totally forgot to start playing it for the WFC weapons...if I went crazy tonight would I be able to get it, or should I consider it a lost cause at this point?
You have to connect every time you want to use the shop. So its a pretty lost cause in any case. Besides there is nothing good scheduled for today. The 21st has the Falcoknight promotion item and the weekends have Brave weapons.

The game is perfectly playable without there. Its more of a big deal in New Mystery of the Emblem where there were a few bonus maps as well a few items that they were super useful (the translation patch comes with saves unlocking these though)

Man, it does make Nintendo's DS DLC the worst in a way. It's ALL there, arbitrarily locked away, and now it'll just vanish with WFC vanishing. The fact it's all free anyway was a boon but now just makes it more of a slap to the face.

Unless that's connected to the eShop servers and they sucked at telling anyone. Was that ever specified actually?

Well that was it for me. Celebrated the end of Wifi with two matches of Goldeneye Wii. Lost the first match, but absolutely beasted the second match with a 11:1 kill/death ratio.

I loved this game so much and it makes my heart ache to know that Eurocom was killed with it's semi sequel so Activision could shit out a Bond game for the movie.

Good memories but now I'll have to run off for work.

I have been trying to get onto the Beatles Rockband music store, it keeps saying it can't and to try again later. I tried yesterday and today, that shouldn't be affected right now anyway right?

On the one hand, I have class tomorrow. On the other hand, I should play some more Mario Kart before the service is down forever.

This is making me surprisingly sad

Oh boy, just had my first race with someone who obviously cheated, blue shells, big mushrooms and lightnings everywhere. This makes me glad that the WiiU side isn't hacked yet (that region-lock, though...). Still came in 2nd out of 9, but it was not a fun experience.

My first and last Brawl online game I played just now was kinda strange. Is it normal that people are just standing around most of the time and hardly fight? It was incredibly boring.

Yup. Taunt parties. Attack and it'll become 3 vs 1 lol

Homebrew always finds a way:

Wasn't GameSpy bought out which is why this is happening.

Shame I'm at work during the switch off.

Yes. GameSpy's new owners are supposedly asking a ridiculous amount of money to continue the service, basically forcing everyone who uses it to shutdown. I believe Nintendo is the last remaining one, as a whole lot of PC games lost their only a few months ago due to this.

This is bullshit. Game companies should feel pressure and should work with their consumers, the game communities and all players, to create legacy solutions for games that people care about continuing to play online.

I was the 8th to last player in the world on Halo 2, and I can tell you, there are always people passionate and dedicated to games, years after the masses have moved on and sequels have been released. Their passion and dedication and community is eradicated simply because the numbers aren't there to push the businesses in control to do right by providing solutions to these special customers. We have the power to make them change attitudes.

I want to play Tetris DS online tomorrow. It is a great game. I will be writing Nintendo and I encourage all of you, each one of you, to do the same, not for one game, or one console, or one company, but for the industry to improve to the benefit of game players everywhere in the future.

Got in one last Brawl and everyone actually fought. Went out on top with PT; felt right. Ivysaur B-special vs. DK = lulz.

Meant to play a few rounds of Battle Revolution last night. Oh well. So long, Nintendo wi-fi connection. It was (kinda) fun.

Well they certainly should provide a solution for the content that is already in the game but cannot be unlocked without going online.

Crap! An hour and a half? I wanted to record a final jaunt in Goldeneye. Oh well.
Maybe it wasn't the best service, but I put tons of time into Mario Kart, Brawl and Goldeneye, all eclipsed easily by about 1000 hours in Monster Hunter. Fare well friend codes.

I'm not sure there's anything they can do. Their games were set up to work with Game Spy servers. Game Spy is no more and the company that bought them are not offering to host game servers anymore. Nintendo cannot patch DS or Wii games.

They were kind of stuck. I don't imagine they wanted to take any of these games down, many are still very popular and probably still making some bit or money (Mario Kart, Smash Bros and old Pokemon games mostly)
