DRIVECLUB new tracks tease for 2016

You know, by this stage I just want a DriveClub 2 now. City tracks and a greater focus on urban areas would've the perfect next step to introduce in a sequel.
I don't see the point, there's a constant update of new cars and tracks, they added bikes, the graphics are still stunning, the multiplayer is still active, there's a 24 hour cycle, tons of weather effects and I don't see how they would make the gameplay any better than it already is.

Best post release support ever (at least for racing game). Evo keeps on giving.
Awesome to hear that there will be city tracks. My main problem with DLC tracks were that all of them looked to similar to base game tracks.

DriceClub is a service now.

You'll get major updates and patches, but I doubt a sequel will happen.

Nor does there need to be a sequel, to be honest. Season Passes are more than enough for a racing game that gets perpetually updated.

Well you're right in a sense but that means the graphics will never ever get an upgrade. If DC2 started development today with all the knowledge, optimizations, quirks, experiences that they have with the engine and PS4 now, it would probably look phenomenaler. I don't have #DC because I don't like racers but having a sequel isn't always bad thing.

The support DC has been getting has been fantastic tho. Props to EVO.

When people talk about DC, many mean, in the same spirit of PGR series, not that they handle the same.

Why though? When I think of PGR I think of city tracks, kudos and their perfected arcade drift driving model. I've been reading the whole "Next PGR" thing for a while on here and I seriously don't get it.

At least it's going to have city tracks now!

Ok, NOW you are allowed to make those PGR comparisons.

Are they still going to give them away for free ?

Can I send them money ? Wine ? Because I started feeling a little uncomfortable accepting all the free stuff they've given us. They're like that one friend that always buys you lots of expensive presents for Christmas.

Are they feeling guilty ? Yeah, DC launch was a little rough, but they more than made up for that a long time ago now, sheesh.

Seriously, this is awkward.
This is the first time I've felt like I'm in debt to a developer.

Fantastic, been waiting fir some year 2 news for what seems like ages. Would have happily bought the season pass blind months ago as the first one was so good.

Good to see some urban tracks making an appearance, it seems they are still listening to what people want.

I can see a DC graphics overhaul happening in the next couple years, where DC 2.0 update is released.

But you're right, a straight-up sequel would likely be easier for updating the game's graphics/engine.

Or forget about the graphical overhaul. If they can improve the graphics via patches and stuff post launch, like The Crew did, they should focus on getting the game to 60 fps.

The graphics are amazing, they're ok on that department until 2017.

Getting the game to 60fps sounds like it would require some serious changes to be made to the existing engine.

I'm not sure if that's something patches can accomplish.

Has there even been a precedent of a game this complex doubling it's FPS through patches/updates?

It's fine. I don't want to derail the thread. But yeah, city tracks is huge.

What are the chances of this some day getting off road racing added to it so I can scratch that Motorstorm itch?

I think I prefer the service model for a racing game. It keeps me coming back. This is the only racing game other than GT2 that has had me hooked for this long.

I think I've put more hours into Driveclub than any other PS4 game. And it looks like with these new tracks, that trend will continue. :D

Anything can happen, but city tracks were a far more requested feature than off road racing. But then again, I didn't really see many requests for Bikes but they did that. So seeing as this is evo, and they liked offroad enough to do 3 Motorstorm games. Unless they're secretly working on a new motorstorm game, I think it's probable we'll see off-road racing at some time. Either way, it'll be a win win for you.

Locked 30FPS means it doesn't necessarily have to be doubled. It could run at 40FPS minimum and Evo realized (correctly) that a constant 30 is better than 40-60 in this game.

The time has long since past to buy this game or Bikes and yet I haven't (not a big racing fan). The improvements in this game now compared to launch are staggering, and I want to support it.

I hope they do an off-road expansion. Rally games have always caught my attention more than standard racing.

I assume when people say 60fps they mean locked.

I think what he's trying to say is, that while the framerate is currently locked at 30, the game if unlocked could be running above 40fps at all times or in the low 50s. So to get it past the 60fps barrier, it wouldn't necessarily be a thing of "doubling" as they'd need 10-20 extra frames per second instead of 30.

But yeah, this kind of talk is just baseless speculation. For all we know Evo has pushed it to the limit and the game as it is right now would run at 31 or 33 fps max when unlocked and would pretty much have to double the framerate to get a locked 60.

Can't bloody wait. Evolution have done a fantastic job with this game despite all the issues they had at launch. Kudos and thanks for an amazing game.

Already posted it in the dc OT thread....

Building on the right is BBC Broadcasting House, Portland Pl, W1A 1AA.

Consider the 1st track central London. ;)

I doubt it would happen to. DC VR hit 60 with quite a few compromises. It would take considerable work and time to get there with the level of fidelity that DC has, if not downright impossible.

Personally, I'd rather they focus on improving the visuals at 30 while leaving 60 for the VR version.
