If it's alternate-WWI then I am very excited (need a few guns more similar to WWII to keep the action flowing, imo). If it's completely authentic...then I'm worried it will be like Battlefront in that it is too simple.

Battlefield formula and BF4 dont go together. The true Battlefield formula can only be found in Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield 2. You can find signs of it in Bad Company 2. The rest is trash, its not Battlefield after 2 really. They tried to hard to go after COD. I hope this changes things. I have been playing the series from the launch of 1942, it's time to bring back the real Battlefield formula.

Okay sorry I took your opinion seriously because what you just described is absolutely not what made BF2 great. It was the emphasis on strategy, classes being specialized. The importance of the Commander role. Taking out AA, radio, structures that have a direct impact on the flow of battle.

WWI is an......interesting choice. That was a grizzly war with much of it spent in trenches waiting out the opposition. People got trench foot from being in them for so long, and let's not even get started on mustard gas. Even horses sound like a cool mechanic but were terribly ineffective in the war and many countries discontinued the use of them in battle.

Setting and tech sound like cool ideas but I imagine they will have to veer far away from what actual WWI warfare was like, which at that point just change it to WWII.

Zeppelin were used for bomb all throughout the war! One happened quite early, in fact. 2 German zeppelin's bombed Edinburgh, Scotland in like 1916.

There's a ton more than the trenches. Not saying you didn't know that, but that's contributing to a lot of the unhappiness. There's a ton of different battle locations, including the Alps, which will make great missions.
