Wonder if it keeps the internal SATA II to USB bridge that may have been a limit to how much SSDs improved load times.
SSDs don't operate with full SATA II bandwidth so that's not even the bottleneck, it's soft-capped. SATA II is already more than any magnetic 2.5" drive requires.

Oh shit this is real! Thought it looked legit on the first page! Excellent. Looks incredible. The Xbox Ine S looked sleek but now the PS4 is absolutely tiny in comparison even to that.. ooft.

I'm all aboard the Neo train though, can't wait for the 7th.

I'm just catching up here...the first page seems to have deduced it as fake, what did the latter 58 pages figure out?
People said it was fake mostly because OP started with posting pictures of the box only. Pictures of the console itself placed against a PS4 later surfaced. Looks real to me.

I'm calling fake. The playstation symbols as base stoppers, while a cool idea is a design sin. What's the point of having them there if you never see them?

I kinda feel like they are leaving everyone who can't afford or won't buy a PS Neo behind with that move. A UHD player is pretty important if you own a 4K TV. I still used the PS3 as a blu ray player for a long time back in the days. I know lots of people who uses it in another room with a smaller tv or in their vacation home. Even when i got my PS4. Pretty lame place to save money, when it isn't like the Xbox One S is super expensive.

I really think they should give us a UHD player in the slim. That no one left behind thing should have been used here...

That would be nice, but from a business perspective they made a better case for getting Neo. Besides if you can't afford a Neo, then you probably don't have a 4K HDR television that would benefit from UHD Blu-ray.

Well, someone bought it and took it home. This person has uploaded photos to his twitter(https://mobile.twitter.com/shortmaneighty2/media).

However, given that he bought it a few hours ago and we have yet to see it plugged in, i'm personally in club elaborate hoax.

I don't get the people who want to see it turned on. What do they expect to see that is different than the regular PS4? Even if you were needing that as proof it was real, how would you tell it was what was being shown on screen compared to a regular PS4?

I guess they wanna hear sound coming directly from it or seeing the buttons light up.

I think it comes down to Sony getting enough developers to have Neo mode ready by holiday launch. If not it's getting pushed to early 2017

lol I wish people would stop saying this. It makes me nervous. I saved my ass off to afford the Neo this year. It'll piss me right off If I'm made to wait now.

The Master Chief is also on the belly of the console I think, and on the vertical stand. The one inside is for people that do end up opening it.

I understand what your saying, but i would say that businesswise it makes sense to prop up their immediate priority product far more, and if that means locking off features, i would say it is a sound strategy from Sony's perspective.

Especially if they are trying to get the price down to impulse, mass market adoption levels. At a certain price, having the latest and greatest doesn't really matter as long as the base gaming device and basic features are there.

They did the same with some screw inside the original PS4, you know?
And some people will use a vertical stand, so these symbols which are part of the PlayStation identity, may be visible.

A video of it starting up would be fine. As it stands it's too easy to believe i'm looking at an empty plastic case.

It might do a better job confirming this console is real. More importantly, I think people want it turned on so they can go into the system menu and see if the hardware is any different as in UHD and HDR support.

It will be $299 and it will sell really well (mostly because of price drop). The lack of UHD drive is not gonna matter much for a gaming console.

This Black Friday when stores have 4K HDR TVs for $500 there will be two $299 consoles on the shelf. One will stream 4K Netflix and play 4K Blu-Rays, the other won't. If the PS4 Slim really doesn't support 4K Netflix and Blu-Rays this fall is a really dumb time to make that mistake.

If the 1200 model was not proof enough that the gloss had been sent back into the fiery pits of hell where it belonged, this is.

Looks nice but I'm fine with the phat model. I'm guessing it will be $299 (maybe even $249) and will support 4K video playback through services like Netflix but won't have an UHD Blu-Ray drive.

I give no fucks how a console looks - I have the super slim cheap as chips sliding door PS3 because my good old phat 60GB Backwards Compatible PS3 sounds like 4 jet engines fighting inside a hurricane simulator. Also my launch PS4 does that delightful thing of thinking there is a disc made of hot lava inside it and engages the hyper eject function. It also does the beep concerto every now and then and you can only stop it by pulling the power and hitting the power and eject buttons until all stored up energy is excised by the will of Satan himself.

I for on am down for a cheaper PS4 model. Don't care how it looks. That said this leak if true looks alright :D

I understand... But why? Why would this happen?

We basically saw: the box, the inside box, the wrapping, the manual and controllers, and the console in all kinds of angles. So again, why would this be a fake? And even further, if this is indeed a fake, then they could just set up a tiny 2 bucks LED lamp in there you know.

Took some creative liberty in those descriptions, didn't you.

It's a lot easier to 3D print that thing than it is to put individual LED lights inside it. As has been said we could also see if it had different hardware options or any 4K streaming support.

These are the best descriptions of console faults I have ever heard.

Hot air exhaust appears to be limited to this area on the back, so it should be pushing a lower volume of air.

That looks really ugly and cheesy to me.

I also hated how the PS3 slim looked and thought the original was super sexy (I'm not a *super* fan of the base PS4 but I think it looks better than this), so maybe I don't know, but with the X1 slim looking really good, not sure how I feel about this.

Will probably hold out for Neo over this.

Its funny because I don't think we really appreciate how thin this thing is. The PS4 is Slim already. The original seems more elegant and this seems more minimalist - which is something I also appreciate. In the states I think we can expect to see it bundles with GT or something like Uncharted 4. Does it support UHD BluRay?

New tweet from shortman:

Hi guys, I will be honest. I am currently arranging for someone to do a full breakdown and video/pictures of the slim so watch this space :)
