Ok. The fidelity is far beyond what anything but commerical grade 3d printers can do and to make a fake of this level of quailty would be prohibitively expensive.

Better?

There is some good high end stuff out there but I was talking about finishing.
I'm not saying it is real, though it probably is, but 3D printers are not printing perfect PS2/PS3/PS4 matte/gloss finishes.

The NX was different because it was a prototype and didn't have to sand/paint to mimick and particular finish.

Oh, okay. Show me.

Unless the creator of this has access to an actual fab line, which i'd bet are molds, they're not getting the finishes this perfect.

Fair enough but you can get pretty close to a finish like this.

I'm not a fan of the PS4's angled parallelogram look, but rounding the corners makes it look much, much worse. It compromises the entire intention of the design.

I mean part of me does like it, I like the texture and color alot, but it really does look like the cheaper smaller counterpart more than a refined update (tends to be the point with slim models duh, but still)

It feels like original PS4 is designed by the PS3 slim team whilst the PS4 slim is designed by the PS3 super slim team

Just give it up, its not that serious.

Chillax and let up.

Huh? This is the first post I made in this thread about it being fake/real. My only other post was towards the beginning of the thread when I said it was not ugly, but looked cheap.

Don't get your response at all. It is not like I am posting on every page about this.

MS usually has a $50 pricecut around the holidays. Many peeps will be buying 4K tvs this christmas. Not saying it'll outsell, but they have a good reason why peeps may buy XBS over this.
They have an even bigger reason not to buy an XboneS to go with their UHD TV. The large quantity of 720-900p games like Call of Duty, Battlefield and Titanfall.

Can someone photoshop this this to have the MGSV red/gold/black color scheme? I want to see the LE console potential here

That's pretty good but you can tell that is still a fair bit from this:

This is the exact quality you'd expect from any matte black from Sony at this point.

If it's hand made, and they managed to sand it perfectly, I'd love to know how they kept the PS sign looking so well.

The bolded is what making me think that potentially this can be a fake. Anyone and everyone that has as PS4 or knows about it knows it can be loud. If you got your hands on a redesigned PS4 you would be posting video's of it running and telling people how loud it is compared to the original model. The pics make it look real, but again, not one video or pic or comment about how it runs just seems/sounds odd to me.

I'm sad the light bar is gone. I might get one if this doesn't sound like a jet engine when my room gets hot.

Newer PS4s are much quieter than launch units. I bought my 2nd PS4 about a year or so ago and it's night and day.

I am not sure if the general public knows about this or cares, not everyone reads digital foundry and have a 20 page discussion on how the tessellation works and how the 900p is affecting the dithering and what not

By that logic people who bought HDTVs for their PS3s made the same erroneous choice with the sub-hd games compared to 360.

Granted I do think this PS4 slim will keep the One S from changing the game. The trend will stay the same.

Tomorrow should be a bit interesting. No doubt gaming outlets will reiterate this news.

That reminds me, has Sony ever faced a leak that is this..... complete? While the PS event is happening soon in two weeks, something tells me they are not just going to sit idly by.

PS3 Slim was leaked way before they announced it (first leaks were during late spring 2009....). They will not do anything. It's not that long before the conference.,

The Ps3 slim was leaked about the same length of time before reveal.

But like this shit is out in the wild. I mean as far as we know it can be obtained and purchased. I mean illegally of course.

That's what I think the poster you quoted means. Like this isn't just a picture of a box. Someone has bought this off of someone and took pictures of it in their house.

The super slim PS3 was leaked prior to its announcement. It's not that uncommon. If it's not an FCC or regulatory pictures, a retailer slips up, or factory worker manages to swipe one or take a few pictures.

Actually looking back, we knew what the slim looked like in May of that year.

It was revealed in august.

Well that changes things a lot then, I had a lot of discussions about the validity of the slim for the past few weeks but it seems like it was there all along, I must develop my forum reading skills better.

I think Sony rounds the corners on their slim versions because they want to make extra sure that the consumers don't mistake the old for the new. If you differentiate them just enough there won't be any chance of mistaking the two.

Even if it's overboard it could just be Sony corporate tradition trickling down.

Nothing unusual in today's day and age. I'm not even convinced it was stolen. All you need is a supplier that releases stock bit earlier to a retailer who in turn sells it to a friend and bingo. Grey market console.

I guess. But I also feel in this day and age 2.5 weeks until the conference is like an eternity lol.

Product unveils has lost its wow factor long ago, the smartphone business is a great example for this just by the sheer amount of devices getting leaked pretty much everyday.

I think people need to move away from expecting to be surprised by these products anyway. They are hunks of plastic and electronic chips, there to be consumed for profit for corperations and their shareholders.

The way the gaming community treats console reveals like Santa bringing them a puppy for Christmas is juvenile and naïve.

Not sure how long PSVR has been in the works but its the newest thing since the console itself. It doesn't have the beveled edge but its still got corners and the segmented and split accents.
I guess they are trying to differentiate the slim from Neo? If there trying to make the slim look cheap then its working. Between the lazy box, the rounded corners, and reduced ports id say $199. Hopefully this new design language doesn't carry over to Neo.
Please dont let this be Neo...

Hahaha, that's quite the way to describe it, and I agree

This almost makes me think that PS4 Select or Neo or whatever it's final name is will be the near-future replacement for all PS4 models. Think about it: Slim is likely designed and released only to be able to manufacture the OG PS4 at a lower cost, with cheaper parts. Which makes me think then that PS4 Select/ Neo may well be more expensive than I originally thought. Could conceivably be more than $399. So, depending on how it sells at the $399 price point or whatever they hit, if sales are good enough, Sony's gonna want as many people as possible to have the higher-spec PS4, especially when exclusive games start being released for it, or developers simply can't get certain high-end games to run well on OG PS4/ Xbox One. So, if sales are high enough, if it reaches mass popularity like OG PS4, then Sony has no reason to keep Slim on the market. They could discontinue Slim a year from now, only have the new upgraded system on sale, lower that price to $349, and then eventually the install base will reach a point where more than half of all PS4 owners have the higher-spec machine, and of the total population of all PS4 owners worldwide, the data point shows that most people are not playing the old version anymore, all the sudden it becomes like a last-gen console, and there's no reason to give it full first-party/ third-party support. In 2018, start treating it like they treated PS3 in 2013/ 2014 before completely dropping support for it.

That honestly looks nasty compared to the ogPS4.

So assuming this thing is real, is this the Neo or something else? And if it's something else, what makes us think it's not the Neo?

Packaging doesn't distinguish it from the regular PS4, and given that it seems significantly thinner and has seen size reductions in other dimensions, it seems unlikely that this console could also be more than 2x the power of the PS4. It also looks like it is made with cheaper parts, is potentially missing a port, and does not have a UHD BD drive, which all suggests this would not be the "premium" PS4 that the Neo is supposedly going to be.

If real, this is almost certainly a cheaper redesign of the main console that will launch alongside a price cut and replace the existing PS4 SKU, while the Neo will assume the PS4's current price or its launch price as the premium option.

I actually quite like it. Looks sleek and it sits in a cupboard under my tv anyway.

If they have improved power/wifi/stability - then i'll sell my OG PS4, buy the slim for my upstairs study and the Neo as my main console & PSVR machine.

Done, take my money Sony.
