Ah, well it does say CUH-XXXXA (CECH is PS3 from what I can tell) for sure, probably 2016. That could just mean they're changing their naming scheme since they're also changing the whole philosophy of console releases in general. Does this mean PS4k gets a different XXX- scheme, or will it be CUH-2017X?

That has to be fake. If not then Microsoft has jumped ahead in the hardware design department. The Xbox One S is way sleeker and more beautiful than this.

There's no reason to stop supporting 2.0 PCM out of optical or 5.1 DTS or DD.

Casuals/price sensitive customers will buy PS4 S.
Fanboys/enthusiasts will buy NEO.
Its as simple as that.
The point is to reduce cost so they can sell the console at a lower price without hurting their margins.

Sorry, man, optical is a thing of the past. Uncompressed audio over HDMI is where the future's heading. Most TVs and receivers support HDMI audio now, and for everyone else they can get a simple HDMI audio extractor.
I do. I have absolutely no intention of replacing my current TV, so have no use whatsoever for 4k, nor can I afford the likely price of the Neo over this.
They are no longer selling OG PS4. So Slim PS4 will be the new normal PS4, and NEO will be the higher tier one

Dropped the ball here. AT least it will still play games better than the bone S, but I feel this is a missed opportunity here.
If it's cheaper than bone S, I can see this do very well, but the bone S is going to tap into a market that assumingly the Neo will come at a steep price at tapping itself.

Here's a very rough size comparison.
Eww look at all that matte finish on the OG PS4. Looks cheap, and those sharp angles will probably get scuffed up.

Haha, what a weird coincidence.
I had to resort to an optical audio cable for hooking up my sound bar today. My 4k TV kept flipping out when I attempted to use the three HDMI inputs on my sound bar and output their sources to my TV's ARC input with CEC.
In short, optical saved my day and I would be sad to see it gone.

Seconded. I'll get it if the price is right. I want a PS4 to play The Last Guardian and Rez Infinite, and I won't shell out for a Neo if there's a major price difference between the two systems. However, if a Neo is only $100 more, I'd have to reconsider.

At first I thought this is odd as well, given that XBOX One S supports UHD. Then again, from a positioning perspective, it makes perfectly sense to offer a cheap as fuck / stripped-down entry-level SKU for the masses out there who just want to play PS4 games and a second one with full 4k support.
I mean, why offer a "PS4K" which basically isn't powerful enough to render games like UC4 in native 4k resolution in the first place and then offer a cheap UHD enabled SKU at the very same time? From a sheer marketing perspective, it's easier to separate those two via 4k as USP of the Neo.
Three points of ready will be more stable than 6.

Go back to the leak thread. The ps3 slim could be bought on (black) market (near a factory) but the guy who made the pics didn't do it.
Overall, i think it's probably better looking in real life. People said the same about the first slim and at the end it looked way better than the OG PS3.

I'm in a different camp. I find the XB1 S to largely have the same design tendencies as the XB1 but smaller, so I'm not really a fan of the design at all.
I think the PS4 slim looks much better, but lacks a couple of things to really give it that oomph. Either a finish or even just the blue light at the front of the PS4 to complete the whole picture.
OG PS4 is still the clear winner for me, by a considerable margin.
