Horizon Zero Dawn PSX 2016 Trailer. It Still Looks Absolutely Amazing!

Not feeling the trailer at all. The voice over acting and writing is low quality, and the gameplay looked like a bunch of semi-automated actions.

I really want this to be good.

Going by that shot of these two going at it, it looks like one of them has been infected by the corrupter machine.

On a random site note we can see one of the robotic birds picking up a dead watcher, looks like a spear in its side. Its interesting in I guess the machines will clean up the dead in the environment.

Ok, here's a theory...the dead Watcher gets taken to somewhere similar to the cave/dungeon we see the Shellwalkers marching to in the latest trailer, where the materials can be recycled.

Where did we see this? I can't remember a scene like that.

It's in one of the E3 trailers in the canyon environment at about 2:13.

There's also some human-on-human melee with her spear in the E3 trailer at 2:09...and a cutscene at 2:34 where Aloy is being attacked by a member of the tribe who control the Scorpion droids.

We still don´t know if there is a fighting versus other humans system in the game?.

In the story trailer from before E3 it showed Aloy struggling with a guy in a cutscene. I expect the final game will feature combat against other humans (enemy tribes), but to be honest I'd rather it didn't because I'd like to play it with my daughter (who will be 7 at the time) and if there's violence against people that will make me reluctant.

To be fair the GTA series has never been ahead of the curve when it comes to visual fidelity.

Sure, but the GTA games have a lot more going on than most games. Vehicle physics, lots of characters on screen with their own AI systems, an open world with little or no loading, long viewing distance, and so on. It's a heck of a lot more demanding than visually top-tier games like Uncharted or Gears.

You must be watching something different to everybody else or you should have went to Specsavers.

GTA games also have budgets most AAA games can only dream of.

"semi-automated actions" is the new "janky enough" jargon on RPG.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

What exactly is a semi-automated action? This isn't some QTE fest from everything we've seen and you have full control of your character with a variety of responsive moves and actions.

But man, in addition to the graphics, the animation was just top notch, from the way each dino moves to the way Aloy crawls through the bushes or slides down a hill. The controls just all felt right from the responsiveness to the aiming to the movement. This was the one demo at PSX where I felt sad when the staff told me the time was up.

I was also surprised how the AI was sometimes pretty relentless. I had run into a small pack of the dino that Sony has an actor dressed up as, and once they aggroed me they would not relent for a long time. Three of them teamed up on me kind of like the raptors in Jurassic park, and even after I had jumped off this sort of cliff like boulder they had followed me but not by jumping down but running down the side around to the bottom.

this is the type of stuff i like to read. hype intensifying.

For the booth with all the demo stations, I asked the staff there and they said they were all normal ones not the Pro. They said in the Pro booth with all the sofas, Horizon was running on Pro.

That's freaking amazing! Exactly the type of AI I want in my games. Smart and relentless. Can't wait to play it come March!

I still don't see what all the fuss is about with this game. Yes it looks gorgeous but every trailer before this one has consisted of the exact same thing. Track a robot dinosaur, take down a robot dinosaur. Rinse and repeat. The game just looks boring to me. Is there any variety? Puzzles? Dungeons? Anything besides hunting dinosaurs and resource gathering?

This game looks so good, I'm just scared that there might be performance issues with the original PS4. It's Guerilla though and they've always had rock solid tech so I'm optimistic, I just don't want to have a distinctly worse experience for not playing on a Pro.

It's because it looks to succeed at what it sets out to do. I've got a long write up comparing the game to Zelda: BoTW and there seems to be quite a nice amount deliberate combat design in this game.

Enemy design in particular looks top notch. So even if you're just fighting foes, the game still seems pretty engaging because of that apparent complexity in foes.

Not sure where else to post this but after watching the psx panel on horizon I've gotta say John Gonzalez is a really exceptional interviewee and speaker. His passion comes through and he's really well spoken. It sounds like he was a really good get for Guerilla. And in case anyone was wondering, it's spoiler free and really wets your appetite

Grr stop bumping this

Didn't you just bump it?

*self referential bump*

:p
Point taken. Yeah from all interviews I've seen of him, john gonzales seems pretty passionate about this project. Hopefully his writing/work from new vegas transfer to horizon. Btw you went to psx right? Got any impressions of the game

Yeah I only got to try it once but I was pretty impressed. The controls feel pretty solid. The enemy types are a good mix. There are different techniques that will give you more success. The level layout was nice, it allowed for different tactics but the biggest takeaway for me was the intensity and overall mechanics of the combat. I think they nailed it which is important, given that it's what you'll be doing a good amount of the time. And I expect no less from guerilla.

One nice touch I noticed was
I hacked one beast and was able to ride and shoot from it. If you left it alone, the feral machines would see it as an outsider and attack it

So my only concern for the full game is the story. In my eyes it's always been guerilla's Achilles heel. But shadow fall at least had a real ending and they've seem to put a lot into the lore so there's hope.

Anyone know if Cambridge is assisting development?

Well the thread is bumped ,so why not post this

Horizon Zero Dawn Uses New GPU-based Run-time Procedural Technology

"GPU based procedural placement system that dynamically creates the world of ‘Horizon: Zero Dawn’ around the player. Not limited to just rocks and trees, the procedural system assembles fully-fledged environments while the player walks through them, complete with sounds, effects, wildlife and game-play elements"

I hope people don't take this the wrong way. This is a developer tool (that looks pretty neat frankly) to make game worlds easier and focus design. This process could lead to Death Stranding coming out earlier than expected.

I only watched this trailer once on the PSX live stream and didn't revisit due to the news-reign happening otherwise. This looks off the hook.

It's made from the demo content but it's new afaik.

Either someone who played the demo captured some footage and is master at editing them or this is an early leak of a tutorial trailer that will come soon.
I guess it's old since the hand sliding hasn't been fixed. Also, that tutorial video is pretty lame to be official.

4Chan Rumor , Ending of the Game leaked Spoilers Ahead , Proceed Cautiously.

The story twist is that this is the second cycle in this world. The main character, Aloy, discovers by visiting the Ancient Ruins of civilization at the end of the game that the 'humans' you see walking around, including you, are simply bio-machines from the first cycle that used biomatter to replicate, like humans reproduce. Humanity has been gone EVEN LONGER than we, the players, think at first. The corruption is never fully explained, it's just established that it's from an unknown source within the ruins, but there's a hint it might have more importance in a sequel. The ending has Aloy basically choose between wiping out the robots or the bio-machines, since the robots were initially programmed by the original humans to wipe out the living creatures the bio-machines that yearned to live like humans hundreds of thousands of years ago feed off.

Zero Dawn is the name of the software found in a huge building in the Ancient Ruins that can shut off the beings roaming the world or your own race

I think this leak happens to be at the right time,as the internal reviews is completed as suggested by Shinobi. What are your thoughts?

it's probably the ending everyone feared. I'm.... I'm.....a robot? And a bit of a franchise ending. But I'm a bit glass half empty on this one.

Everyone feared about, only Alloy being the bio-machine . Not that the rest of the living beings are machines too!!(if the above rumour is true). Also matrix kinda Storyline makes it interesting.
